Kathleen, my name is Bob Ferguson. I think you talked with my dad in Houston a year or so ago. I am a dentist in Austin and we are very interested to visit our family graveyard on your ranch. My grandmother was a Gerst and we have identified the names on your list as her family. My great uncle who is almost 90 visited the graveyard some 26 years ago. Can you please contact me to let me know when we can schedule a trip to get photos of each of the stones. my email is drbobf@sbcglobal.net and phone is 512-259-0039.
Dorothy Goulet Gerst's father, Peter Goulet, was my great grandfather. Large family from Detroit; Peter the oldest. My grandmother, Josephine, near the youngest. French Canadians.
I have quite a bit of information on the French Canadian line, thanks to others on this site, but trying to bring the information forward has been a challenge.
I have information on Dorothy and 3 sisters; one, Marie, died at about 6 months. I have information on Dorothy and Arthur's 2 sons, but nothing on daughter, Barbara, and only date of death for son, Robert.
Little information on Arthur and Dorothy's grandchildren or those of Dorothy's sisters, except what I've found in St. Louis papers.
Any help appreciated. Thanks for your response. I've not been spending as much time on the genealogy lately, but with winter on the way, my plan is to get into it again.
My family is long gone, so there's been no one to pass down family history. Thanks again.

I am Howard Homer Haynes, formerly of Vanderbilt, Jackson County, TX. I am a descendent of a Christopher Haynes (nicknamed "Kit") whom, I think, was in the CSA when a substantial portion of his estate along the Navidad river was bankrupted and separated. I am sketchy about forebearers and descendents and had no knowledge of a possible forebearer named Margaret, though I am aware of a descendent named Margaret in another branch of the family.

I sent Uncle Hugh a card via the postal service some time ago, but have not heard a thing back. It is very hard to find anything on Gerst. I received some infor on the Rauch surname. But having trouble finding the link. She married a Gerst, Frederick I think but cannot remember right now. Everyone is fine. How is the new grandbaby?
sandy

Hi Debbie,

I got your message. Good to hear from you. Yes I have been trying to dig up some info. Have gotten a little, still searching. Found that "Gerst" may have originally been "Gurst". Gggrandpa Mike Gurst might have been an orphan and came to the US as a lad. Was in the restaraunt business..

Will call you soon. Kids are all fine. Clarice was in hospital w/pneumonia. Albert had appendectomy.

Keep in touch.
Sandy

Hello Sandy,

You know me always going thru the genealogy. Glad to see you are doing some also. I can give you some of the info I have. To the best of my knowledge you still have Uncle Hugh Gerst & Allen Gerst. Also aunt Rosemary in Decature, Ga, if they haven't died and I don't know it. Remember I have some photos of your dad's parents, Michael Gerst & Kathryn Collins Gerst. E-mail me. The kids are all well.

I am working on a friend of mine's genealogy (a Gerst). I was told that there was a possibility that there was the same ancestry on both side of the family. As I was searching for a Anna Molitor, I came across on born to a Vetsch. If indeed both of these families are in fact related, then Regina Vetch (Vetsch) would be from Niederlauterbach in what was Alsace. Since Regina (Vetsch) and Fred were married and brought the eldest two daughters with them from the old country, it would be presumable that the Gerst Family was also from Niederlauterbach or some close village to it. Just thought I would share that information with you.

Mike

PS The Vetsch family that came to Missouri mostly settled in Saint Charles/O'Fallon/etc.

Hello Pat,

Since I last posted my Caroline Gerst message I've found additional facts about Caroline who married Rev. Conrad Borchers. Her full name is Caroline Christiana Elizabeth Gerst. She was born 6/16/1855 in New Albany, IN and died 1/10/1921 in Pennsylvania. Caroline Gerst's parents were Gottlieb Gerst and Christiana Selters. Hope this helps.

Regards,
Carol Movahed
Hi Pat,

I'm related to Caroline Gerst through adoption -- her son Carl Conrad Borchers adopted my mother in the 1920's. I'm in touch with a biological descendant of Caroline E. Gerst and if I get any more details about her from that person I will be glad to pass them on to you. At this point, I know nothing about Caroline Gerst's family other than what I included in my original post.

Blessings,
Carol (Minkel) Movahed

Max Bublies that I knew was born in Germany (Prussia) in 1883 and I think came to U.S. in 1923 and eventually came to California. I recall hearing a name of Alice Bublies.
