Rev.Michael Ghormley married Mary A. McCroy in Monroe Co. TN in 1871. Michael's parents were Hugh Ghormley & Nancy Charles. Michael was married previously to an Ethalinda Tedford. He married Mary McCroy after E. died. They had several children, the oldest was Michael D. Ghormley who married first, Georgia Savannah Howard, then Lexie Evans in 1907. Both marriages were in Macon Co. NC. I know of the Cherokee connection with the Ghormleys but cannot determine where the Cherokee blood came from in this line. Rev. Michael Ghormley died in 1902. His gravestone is in the cemetery of the Kyle Baptist Church in NC. as is his eldest son, Michael D. Ghormley. There is no birth nor death date for Michael D. though I know he was born in 1874 or 1875. Mary (McCroy) Ghormley died in 1935. Does anyone know of this family? Was Mary a full-blood Cherokee?
