Hi i'm Cheryl (Australia)
I'm not sure where to go about an item i have in my care.
Bout 20 years ago my brother gave to me a statue to keep in my care.
It's beautiful - 1 male holding anothers legs that has a crown on - monkeys around bottom. Its of marble and very articulate. If you could help me with any information of this item I would appreciate it. It has A. Giannetti etched on the marble at the bottom.
Kind regards,
Cheryl McPhee

hello, Cindy. I'll do my best to check out the data you sent to me. However, as I told you, I've been living the last four years in the Netherlands so that might take a little while. Terracina is a little town some 100 Km South of Rome (about 40.000 inhabitants). I could give you more extensive informations about the town… but that would take while. ciao

Yes, I'm still very interested. Thank you so much. My great grandfathers name was Silviano Giannetti. He came to the US in 1913. His father was Antonio Giannetti and his mother was Maria. I'm told by my aunt that Antonio had been married twice and Maria was the second wife. Silviano was born around June 18, 1861. That is about all I know, but I would love to find out if he had brothers and sisters and more about his parents. Anything would be very much appreciated.
I hear that Terracina is beautiful. I would love to go there someday!!
Thanks,
Cindy Price

I live in Holland already for four years now but my parents still live in Terracina and I go there often. I could look up some things for you if interested. lemme know. ciao

I have Giannetti ancestors from Terracina. My grandmother was Virginia Mary Giannetti she was born in Terracina Jan 28 1952. She immigrated to Canada in 1914. Her father was Silviano Giannetti he came to the USA through Boston Harbor April 9, 1913. He settled in Somerville, Massachusetts. His wife Rosaria Morlani Giannetti and daughter Josephine joined him in 1919. He was born June 1861 in Terracina. Silviano died in 1954 in Massachusetts. His death certificate lists his fathers name as Antonio and his mother as Maria (I don't know her maiden name). Rosaria and Silviano had a son his name was John Robert and he immigrated to Canada.

Do you think we have a possible connection? When I was doing some of my research I noticed that there was a lot of Giannetti's in Terracina. It seems to be a common name.
I was only a child, so sorry, don't remember much about the visit except that he was alot of fun, a very colorful character.
My grandfather was Francesco Giannetti of Terracina, his second oldest son my father Agostino is now 92 yrs old, living in California. Relatives still residing in Terracina have been the best resources in terms of tracing the family history. Especially Cesarina and Rosario Giannetti, my aunt and uncle. There are cousins in Italy in the Rome area who speak english well enough to facilitate translation and might agree to reveal an email address. The Scaffidi name sounds familiar. Was one of your relatives given the nickname "Big Bad John"? If so, I think he came out to visit us in California. Ciao, LG

Guilio & Cindy: Reading your postings and trying to obtain information from my mother (Lauretana Giannetti), there could be a chance that our ancestors are related (including us). My mother's father is Mario Giannetti (born 1892 Terracina & died March 26, 1960) who had 3 brothers, Salvatore, Valentino and Vincenzo. Their father's name was Giovanni Giannetti (my great grandfather). I was in Terracina last summer visiting many of my relatives. It would be great to chat.

My name is Angelo Giannetta and I live in Toronto, Ontario. My parents are Mario and Maria Giannetta. My parents come from Anzano Di Puglia and are children of Angelo and Antonia Giannetta and Giuseppe and Antonia Colella.

I am curious about the other Giannetta's living in the GTA. Specifically, I read of a Paul Giannetta from Scampitella, which is a town within a stone's throw from Anzano Di Puglia.

I'm looking for information about my great grandfather Siliviano Giannetti. His daughter Virginia Mary is my grandmother. She was born in Terracina, Italy 28 Jan 1892. She had one brother John Robert Gianetti, and a sister Josephine. Josephine married Joseph Scaffidi. Silviano's wife was Rosario Morlani, she was born in Terracina. Both Silviano and Rosario died in Somerville, Mass. I would love to talk with others who have Giannetti ancestors from Terracina. Thanks, Cindy

My grandmother, Virginia Giannetti had a brother named John. Isn't that Giovanni in Italian? Uncle John was born in Terracina 1 May 1897 and died in Canada 10 June 1976. The other sibling that I know came to the US was Josphine. She was born in Terracina 19 Dec 1902. Seems like we must be related somehow.
Next week, I'm going to Salt Lake City. The Family History Library there has microfilmed civil records from Terracina. I'm excited to see if I can find any relatives. It will be interesting since I don't read or speak Italian. I will let you know if I find anything.

Silviano Giannetti was my great grandfather, I'm not sure when he arrived, but I know my great grandmother Rosaria Morlani, his wife) followed him there in 1919.
Did you see that Ancestry.com has a probate record listing for an Angelio Giannetti from Somerville, MA. I wonder if this is your ancestor.

I don't remember anyone refering to them as "Big Bad John". But I can ask my aunt. I don't know if either of them ever visited California. I have not yet found any living relatives in Italy. I'm still trying to find out where in Italy Angelo emigrated from. It looks like it say he emigrated in 1893 in the 1900 census.
Don't know if there is a link here but interested in finding out. My Wife's family age Giannetta's from Trevico Italy. Interestingly Her GGGrandfather Pasquale Giannetta b 1860 married a Carmella (Carmina) Regille (Rigillo) b 1864. The close match of the spouses names are what caught my eye. Pasquale immigrated around 1891 and Carmella immigrated in 1898. They had three children Michael, Madeleine and Vito.

Dan Fortier

My wife's family are Giannetta's changed to Jeannette here in the states. They hail from Trevico which looks like it is fairly close to Scampitella. Her great grandfather (Pasquale) came to the states in 1892 and settled in the Boston/Saugus/Medford area. In 1904 an Angelo is listed with Ellis Island as coming to the states to be with his brother Pasquale. Pasquale's wife Carmella Regille (Carmina Regillo in the Ellis Island Records) came over with their three children in 1898. The children were Michele, Magdeleine and Vito. Have not had any luck tracing these folks back any further.
