Hi I believe I have a copy of your grandfather's baptism record. I found an Antonio Domenico Leopoldo Giannotti son of Raffaello Giannotti of Domenico Giannotti and Rosa daughter of Antonio Baldacci baptised on July 17 1878. He had a sister named Maria Anna Agnese born in 1873 and a brother named Pietro Giuseppe Giovanni born in 1866. I did not see any Rosa but it is still probable that this Antonio is your grandfather. Send me you email and I can forward the record to you. I will be away a few weeks and may not answer your for a while. Look at http://barga.homedns.org:81/.

Ciao

Pete

She has not been seen since she was 17 or 18 years old. Her name was Alice Antonette Giannotti. I understand they may have spelled Giannotti with a J instead. Maybe jianoti or something similar.
Hi Pete, I don't know nothing else about Assunta Dante, but i'm going to investigate it, and then i will answer you. Judging the place and both surnames (Giannotti and Dante), is probably our ancestors were relatives. (Sorry if my english is poor).

Her grandfather was Vittorio Vincenzo Giuseppe (Giannotti) and he was born in Barga (Lucca) in 1869, then he emigrated to Argentina over 1900. His parents were Giovanni and Assunta Dante. I don't know if he had brothers or sisters. Maybe we have some relation.

Hi i am writing this from Austria. During the search for our relatives in USA - which we have found now - now we would like to search them in Paraguay. So I am very pleased having read your posting. My great grandmother was Anna Gianotti born 10.01.1856 in Faedo/San Michele - Adige Trentino. Three of their sons were emigrated.
Her parents: Gianot Bortolo born 4.7.1827 and his wife Brugnara Domenica born 1.3.1835 - date of marriage: 17.2.1855. They had 4 children.
1) Gianot(ti) Lucia ANNA Marianna born 10.1.1856
2) Gianotti CESARE Michele born 18.12.1857
3) Gianotti Lino Maria ANTONIO born 23.9.1862
4) Gianotti Giovanni born 15.12.1871

CESARE died 3. (or 9.) 10. 1911. His wifes name was Rosario. They had 2 children.
1) Gianotti Antonio
2) Gianotti Laudelina

We have letters with the following addresses: one of them date: 3.2.1911

Cesare Giannotti
Aserradero Y TORNERIA À/VAPOR DE CÉSAR Gianotti

2 do(a) NUEVA(O)
BARIOS/SALINARES
ASUNCION

CAPOTAS/BARACA
Guillermoviel
Trinida/Paraguay

one head of the letter: CALLE Venezuela esq.S.

HI I am writing this from Paraguay. My greatgrandfather came here from Italy and was born about 1855 in Trento Italy, his father name is Bartolomeo, and he got a son named Antonio Manuel Gianotti who is my grandfather. As they told me Cesare came with one brother to work at the new raildroad station here in Paraguay about 1900, and his name is Giovanni. That´s what the Societa Italiana di Mutuo Soccorso told me about the two GIANNOTTI that was registered there. and my great grandfather was a member too when he died in May 3, 1963. but his last name is with one n and not double n.

My mother and sister are currently corresponding with Giannott's in Luca.
Hi Roberta and Carolyn, this is Chris and Barbara (daughter of Michael Angelo Langone and Barbara Rose Gianotti)! We've been working on the family tree as well though trying to get Uncle George to cough up information is tough! Our tree is available on the web through Ancestory Tree. We'd love to trade whatever info you've come up with as well. Please keep in touch (which is tough when you're in Mass and we're in VA.) Ciao, Chris & Barb

My father, Lorenzo Giannotti, was born in Altopascio, Lucca, Italy. His father's name was Lodovico and his mother's maiden name was Maria Bulleri. He emigrated to the USA in l906, and came to California. He had a watchmaking and jewelry shop in Pittsburg, California. He had one sister who was named Eletta that married a man named Giuntoli, and they later emigrated to Chicago. We lost touch with all of them. He also had six other brother & sisters who stayed in Italy. I would love to get in touch with any relatives, either here or in Italy.

Hi I am a Giannotti born in Wales UK. MY grandfather Antonio came from Italy ate 1800's - he was present on UK 1901 census. He was born around 1878. We think in the Barga Lucca area. he married my grandmothr Winifred Dughan in 1906 in England. My dad used to tell us that his aunt (antonios sister)?Rosa became a nun and their brother emigrated to USA ?NYS - may have been named Guiseppe. I ahve nothing else to go on and sadly me dad died 25 years ago before we were of an age to make use of the information and all his siblings were already dead. As far as I know there was no contact with any relatives in Italy from the late 1940's as war in Europe made it difficult although my dad used to go to Italy a lot as a child. Any of this ring any bells with anyone. Any starting point to find Antonio's background would be a hlep.

GIANNOTTI Family Name

I am looking for more info. on my Giannotti family. My grandfather, Raymond (Remo), was from Faicchio, Benevento, Italy. He and most of his 10 brothers and one of his two sisters came to America in the early 1900's. They were in the shoemaking trade. Most of the family settled in Connecticut. New Haven and Wallingford. My grandpa and his brother, Fred, came to the Chicago area. Grandpa married Lucy (Lucia)Parenti and had 4 children: Vincent, Raymond Jr., Eugene and Virginia. All deceased except Eugene, who is now 70 years old and lives in Forest Park, IL. I am having trouble finding out more for vs. reasons. Some of Grandpa's brother's names were: Angelo, Matthew(Matteo), Ralph (Raffaele). Any info. on the Connecticut Giannotti's would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, Vince. Thanks for responding. I am pretty sure we are related. Just the fact of the "falling out" and not speaking for many years is a BIG clue. My Grandpa, Raymond (Remo) and another brother, Fred (Federico) settled in Chicago and each of them hadn't spoken to brothers in CT all of their lives. Even to each other.......and they ran a business together!
There were MANY brothers and 2 or 3 sisters. My father and I became reacquainted after 20 years and I am learning more. I have some info on file at home and will send more when I get a chance. I do know that the brothers in CT sent my grandpa to IL because of some trouble he got into there.
We are related to the Giannotti that has a school named after them, there.
They both stayed in Italy. Keep in touch.
Janice

I noticed your post. My grandfather, Alphonse Giannotti was also from Benevento. He would have come to the U.S. around 1910. We are all from Bridgeport, CT. My grandmother's maiden name was Angelina Portanova. They met here in the U.S. I heard that my grandfather, who passed away in 1967 at the age of 74, came over with his brother, but they had some kind of falling out and never spoke again the rest of their lives. That's all I know - I don't even know the brother's first name. My grandparents had two sons, my father Vincent A. Giannotti and his brother, Michael J. Giannotti. They were both WW II veterans. My father died in 1971, and I am not sure about my uncle who I haven't spoken to since 1975. We are probably all related somehow! I moved from Bridgeport to Burke, Virginia in 1993. Any info would be appreciated.
