Hi, I also have some sketchy Giard Lineage from the Worcester and Northern Rhode Island area. My Great grand mother was Emma Giard , married (for a while) to Alphonse Laplante. Emma was born in Canada around 1868 and had 4 brothers (Arthur (b1878), Joseph (b1879), Alfred/Freddie (b 1881) and Rudolph (b 1890)) all born in Canada. Their parents were Alexis Giard (b1841) and Mary L (Elise) xx (b1848) (don't know surname). According to 1910 US Federal census Alexis/Elise Immigrated to Worcester in 1890

Delia GIARD -- ca 1863 QC to 1945 Montreal, QC

I am looking for more information about Delia GIARD.

She was born in QC in about 1863. I first located her in a Census in 1881, living in Iberville, QC, with her husband Stanislas-Emmanuel HIRBOUR. They married sometime between Jun 1880 and Mar 1881, and in May 1881, had a daughter.

Shortly after the 1881 Census, the family moved to the US and setted in Butte, Montana. They are believed to have had 6 children.

Stanislas died in Butte in 1899, but Delia lived until 1945, when she died in Montreal. For the first few years after Stanislas' death, it seems that Delia traveled between the US and Canada. Her last mention in Butte is in the 1919 Directory, but she was known to live in Montreal before that.

Can anyone please help with more info on Delia or this family?

Thank you!

I did some research on your query. Emma, widow of Alphonse LaPlante, can be found in the 1904 and 1907 Worcester Directories. She is also found in the 1910 Census living in the home of her parents Alexis and Elise Giard with her three children in Worcester, MA.

My grandmother, Malvina GIARD Hamelin (1870-1959) has been a brick wall in my research. Anyone reading this query who can provide assistance in tracing her line back would be greatly appreciated.

Aug. 1860, who married FELIX GATINEAU June 20, 1882.
In a 1920 newspaper article noting the 50th anniversary of Daniel and Mary (Marie) Dumas of Southbridge, Mary refers to Odille Gatineau as her sister. But Mary's parents were Joseph Bourassa/Burrows and Celestia 'Sally' (Potvin) Bourassa/Burrows. Mary was born 1852, and her father passed away in 1854. My father's father was Charles Henry Giard and I have Charles Henry Giard's death certificate (dated March 15, 1946). It shows he died in in Cranston, RI state hospital and his residence is listed as Whipple Ave, Oakland, RI. His age is given as 69 (born 1877. His profession is listed as a weaver in local mill. His parents are listed as Clement Giard from Canada(no location) and mis mother is Mathilda Jarvis also from Canada. My father, Edward Henry Giard, had three brothers: Charles, Joseph and Raymond and one sister, Gladys(married to Charlie Cross). On a trip to Mass. and R.I. in 1992 I met with Louise Giard, Joseph's wife. All his brothers and sister have died. Louise has one son "Joe Joe" who is still living in the area. I'm interested in any additionall information you may have, especially with regard as to where in Canada my great great grandparents (Clement Giard and Mathilda Jarvis came from.

My ggrandfather, Timothy Giard, was living at the home of Mrs. Marie Crepeau of
l328 Logan Ave. N., Minneapolis, MN at the time of his death
in l9l4. His wife - Clarisse Bourgeois whose mother's maiden
name was Dupont. A MARRIAGE ENTRY Request For Proxy Marriage Sealing showed Pierre Bilodeau marrying a
Louise Crepeau 23 Nov l879 in Mpls MN and a Louis Crepeau
marrying a Florence Hohler 20 Jun l9l6 in Mpls MN along with
my ggrandparents Timothy Giard marrying Clarisse Bourgeois
30 Aug l857 also in Mpls MN. This information was requested
by a Vernadeen Lee Selden of Seattle, WA at least l7 years ago. The Giard-Bourgeois and the Crepeau-Hohler info found in
The Church of St Anthony Parish Records. Louis Crepeau born l880. Do any of these appear in you family history search?

I am looking for information for the Giard family from Granby Quebec, mainly the family of David Giard and Palmire Surette.
They had children named Diana and Ovila. Diana married Albert St Laurent and lived in Hull, Quebec. She died in 1972.

Giard family ancestors

i just did a report on my family last year in school, and from what i learned about our family name, nobody can find anything on it for two reasons:
(1) your looking for "Giard", yet it wasnt spelled OR pronounced that in france. i dont remember completely, but it was along the lines of "zyhar"
(2) the giard family was once a french royal family. they were very wealthy, and had a rather large kingdom for their time. they were also very powerful. during a war, their castle was besieged, and the only living member of the family that survived and made it to safety was the prince, at that time around 21 years of age. he lived in secrecy, never telling anybody of his heritage because of the obvious threat it held to his life, and he started a family, and hence, here we all are today. he also changed his name to the current family name: Giard. now this may not relate to ALL giards, but most of us did derive from this matter.

that also comes back to the question "why dont we have any information on our history?" and that comes to the fact he lived the life of a peasant and never told anybody of his heritage except for his wife, and their children,a nd that secret was passed from generation to generation, and as always when too many people know a secret: it got word out that this was the history of the giard family. that is why information on our history is VERY hard to find, as 99.5% of places have none. i was lucky and my teacher had alot of connections to higher-ups in various places, and i regret that she does not teach at my school anymore. hopefully this has shed light on us, and be happy to know that the true blooded giards ALL have royal blood, though now-a-days it means nothing. lol. but you can feel proud to have our family name now more than before. i am at least. ^_^

Edward Giard passed away many years ago. If you have any information on Edward Giard in Sterling, MASS. Please let me know.

Looking for information on Henri/Henry Giard and Alice Unknown/Giard. They had two children. My grandmother, Blanche and a son, Rupert, who died as a child. Henri may have came from Quebec. Family history says that Alice may have been part Iriquois. Family was living in Cohoes, NY when my grandmother was born in 1874. I have a baptism certificate that has the name of Blanche Marie Edesse Giard baptized in Cohoes, NY. (My baby book has Alice as my g grandmothers name, I don't understand the name Edesse on the baptism certificate.) The next line has: From Henry Giard and Edesse Giard. The sponsors were Edward Giard (grandfather???) and Marie Bessette. The minister was named Robitaille. See attachment for baptism certificate.
