do you happen to know other children from giuseppe? i believe my great grandfather anthony giardino might have been one. the timing is right and the names work. anthony married mary macdonald and they had four children. the oldest is evelyn giardino born february 5, 1910. she is my great aunt and she is still alive. she'll be 100 next february! her next younger sister is also still alive and her name is alice. she married arthur batson. she is 97 years old born in 1912 but i don't have the exact date right now. the next youngest was hazel giardino but she passed away quite a long time ago. she married into the donovan family. the youngest was my grandfather edward giardino born in 1920 and passed away in 1992. edward was married to katherin hallisey and they had six children; my father and my aunts and uncles. my great aunt evelyn has a lot of old family documents including the marriage license for her parents. i'll have to see if there is more information there.

Thanks so much for answering my post.

I don't know that we are comparing the same Joseph Giardino. I don't know when or where my great-grandfather arrived in the USA or when he was married. But, he would have been born around the same time as your grandfather. I only know that in 1920 and 1930 he was living in Paterson, NJ. His wife's name was Rose (Rosa.) I especially don't know Rose's maiden name. Of course, I would love to find out.

Perhaps there is a kinship here somehow, cousins, etc.
That would be a fantastic realization, to get to know family. Like you, I would love to hear from you if you learn more. I can be reached at cathie_lobpries@yahoo.com.

Blessings, Cathie

Hello, My name is Catherine (Cathie) Lobpries, and I hope you read this email. My grandmother was Carmela Giardino, and her parents were Joseph and Rose. They lived in Paterson, NJ, and my grandmother married my grandfather Michael Cannella. I hope this is a connection. My mother Rose (Cannella) married my father Anthony John Mezzapella in 1948.

I have been doing research on my family, and just found your posting. I do have a picture of my great-grandfather Joseph.

Please let me know if this is a valid connection or not. I appreciate your reply.
Cathie

Don't know if we're somehow related, but my greatgrandparents are Giardinos from Ariano and they moved here around 1907 or 1910...somewhere in there. They were Nicola Giardino and Maria Grasso (Grayso?), who settled in Schenectady, but there was some connection to the Bronx, I believe, during the '30s, when my grandparents Pat Carrara (Pasqualina Giardino) and her husband Anthony Carrara lived near NYC for a brief period. Any immediate connections to upstate NY?

Hi- you might want to check the 7 volume set "Italians to America"
It is a compilation of passenger lists of Italian Immigrants
from 1879-1899. I would bet you would find Vincent in there.
This is a list of New York Immigrations however if he was in Texas
don't for get to check the port of New Orleans as about 10% of the Italians
came in through other ports then New York.

My grandmother was born Grace Giardino (~1915 in TX, I believe) to Italian immigrants Vincent Giardino and Catherine Mosely. Catherine died and Vince moved to CA. Grace was sent to Sutter Creek, CA, to live with her grandmother (sorry, don't know the name) and soon sent off to a convent in San Francisco when Vince remarried. Grace moved to Vacaville, CA, after meeting and marrying John Rico, also from an Italian immigrant family. John became publisher of the Vacaville Reporter (www.TheReporter.com) Both live in Vacaville, CA.
