Sarah,

Is your father the only Gibble in Austin?? I believe he called my brother, Steve Gibble, who is currently living there a few months ago. My brother called me right away because I have the Gibble history book from their original entry to the US in about 1740- for at least the Henry Gibble's that settled in Lancaster County.

I was not able to locate anything under Clyde Gibble, but it would be very helpful if you got ahold of his birth certificate. If this is something you would like to apply for and you think he was born in Pennsylvania, I may even have some of the forms tucked in a file. Let me know if I can help-

Stacey

My interest in the GIBBLE/GIBBELs is as a distant ancestor which is where I connect... Since a lot of genealogies go back to Henry GIBBEL (b1717) in Germany, that is the information that I have.
Thanks. What I find confusing is the "DESCENDANCTS OF HENRY GIBBEL" books say that the Jacob (b 1772) who married Barbara Eby, had the parents Jacob Gibbel (b 1747) and Elizabeth Eby. So, his mother's maiden name and his spouse's maiden name were both EBY.... This appears to be room for possible errror. Also, one of Jacob's (1772) son's middle initial is given as "H", and I have frequently found the children's middle name to be the mother's maiden name.

I have a Jacob Gibble born Dec. 26, 1772. Also have Jacob, married to Barbara Eaby. This record is an old family bible, copied by Geneva J. Gall. This was a Henry Gibble bible. The reference to Jacob and Barbara Eaby Gibble is from the History of the Church of the Brethren by Durnbaugh, pp180-181. It is a babtism record of the White Oak church from near Manheim, Lanc. Co., PA (Warwick Twnshp). You can find info on another Jacob Gibble at http://aqua.dev/uga.edu/~lebo/gibble_geno.h This is THE GIBBLE LINE of the ancestors of Richard Alan Lebo. A Jacob Gipple(same name, different German pronunciation into English),born Jan. 16, 1815, died Sep.23, 1862. Buried Jacob's church cemetery, Powell's Valley, Dauphin Co., PA E-maile me directly and I can supply moe. heatwole@jvlnet.com

The Ruhl and Wenger cemeteries are in different parts of Lancaster CO. The Wenger one is located near Chiques Ch. of the Brethren and I believe contains older stones than at Ruhl's. The Wenger/Gibble house is extant and stands near to the Wenger cemetery. The house is protected by the PA Historic Trust and will likely be restored at some point. I have numerous photos of it. If you send me your snail mail(USPS) address, I'll see that you get a photo. I am at 3339 Newcastle Dr., Janesville, WI 608-756-3229. I have photographed the Gibble stones at Ruhl's, but not the ones you need. However, I will be in Lanc. CO. in early May, and if I have time will photo the stones you mentioned. Let me know if you want me to do that. Frank Heatwole

You apparently do not live in Lanc. Co. There are many Eby and Gibble families, as well as other surnames, especially in the earlier generations, with names that repeat in every generation. Following German naming patterns many families' children had the same names in the same generation. It is confusing sometimes.
A reply with your lineage would be helpful to me in sorting out what I might be able to help you with. (As a retired teacher, I ought to know one should never use a preposition to end a sentence with) My connection to Gibble is that my sister married H. Lamar Gibble of Manheim, PA. He and I are trying to make the connection back to Germany. Can you help there?

Now I live in Los Angeles but he contacted me last week and left me his phone number. There's got to be more than one Don Gibble in Northern California so email me back telling me what your father, Don Gibble looks like and does for a living and if it's the same guy I'll email you his phone number. If you've already found him then hip hip hooray. I'm just trying to help you. Let me know.

I'm researching Gibble's, Hummer's and Witmeyer's.
My g-g-g grandparents were David Witmeyer and Elizabeth Hummer, both born about 1800, David in Germany and Elizabeth in Lancaster PA. both died about 1866. One son Aaron Witmeyer my g-g grandfather moved to Indiana and was a watch maker he married Nancy Wittel.
His brother David Witmeyer also a watchmaker stayed in Lancaster and married Susanna Gibble Hummer born 1836, Daughter of John Hummer, born 1810 and Catherine Gibble Hummer born 1808, most likely the daughter of Abraham Gibble and Susan Longenecker.
Gibbles Hummers and Witmeyers are said to be buried in the Gibble cemetery Penn twp. Lancaster, PA
Would anyone have information on the Gibble farm cemetery? Possible pictures?
Thank you, Reann

I am trying to find source documentation for the alleged marriage of Jacob Gibble, b 26 Dec 1772 son of Jacob GIBBLE and Elizabeth EBY. Who is this Jacob Gibble, that could be married around this time frame..... How many Jacob Gibbles could there be in Lancaster County in the 1820 census? ..... I did find a Jacob Gibble buried in a Gibble Cemetary with a wife named Barbara (1779-1837). I had thought this might be her until I purchased the Descendants book, and it lists her name as Barbara EBY.... Where did they get that information?
There are 3 Gibble cemeteries, each located on what was at one time a Gibble farm. So to say one is interested in stones from the Gibble farm cemetery is not much help. Can you be more specific? There is one just south of Manheim, not far from Kreider's Brethren Church, one north of Manheim near Ruhl's picnic grounds, and one near Chiques(not sure of this spelling) Church of the Brethren.
Charles GIBBLE - Kansas City, KS - wounded 1894

"The Kansas City Journal" (Missouri) Thursday, January 4, 1894

SHOT BY A PLAYMATE

Charles GIBBLE Wounded in the Back by a Target Rifle Bullet

Charles GIBBLE, who lives at Eighteenth street and Quindaro boulevard, was shot in the back yesterday by a playmate. The wounded boy and his brother were each given a target rifle by their father Christmas and were yesterday out shooting at a target in a vacant lot near their home.

Young GIBBLE had just shot at the target and had run to see how close he had come to the center of the target. While on his knees examining the impression made by the bullet he was shot by Charles PLATT, another boy, who had picked up one of the guns and shot at the target.

The injured boy was removed to his home near by where he was attended by Dr. BILLINGS. It was found that the bullet had taken a downward course, passed through the hip and lodged in the muscles of the thigh. Dr. BILLINGS says the wound will not prove fatal.

(I have no connection with this family; but, if you found this of value, please let me know.)
neirbo
