They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The **** family is one of those missing.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating these families.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
Indian Gibson family from Charles City Couty

The 'Indian' Gibson family below may descend from the 'old' Thomas and George Gibson who was in Charles City County early. Testimony below shows there were Indian slaves name Gibson in Charles City County who ended up in New Kent/Hanover. Apparently the case was never settled. The attorney for the Gibson/Evans family had a nervous breakdown and I assume these families were not freed.

There are some Charles County mentions at this website link below.

Does anyone have anything else on these Gibson/Evans familiesl? Joanne

The Slaves Held by Lewis Allen to the Superior Court, Richmond, Virginia, 1805 To the honorable, the judge of the superior court of chancery directed by law to be holden in the city of Richmond Humbly complaining shew unto your honor your orators and oratrixes Charles Evans, Amey Evans, Sukey Evans, Siras Evans, Solomon Evans, Frankey Evans, Sally Evans, Milly Evans, Adam Evans and Hannah Evans holden in slavery by Lewis Allen and permitted by this court to sue together here in forma pauperum as well as in their own behalf as in behalf of others in their family whose names are unknown to your orators and oratrixes and in whose cases are hereinafter stated. That your orators and oratrixes are children of a free woman of colour named Amey; who was daughter of another free woman named Sarah Colley, who was daughter of another woman of free colour named Jane Gibson; that from the document, depositions, and copies from records hereto annexed, it will appear that Thomas Gibson, alias Mingo Jackson, who is a son of Hannah, a sister by the mother's side to the aforesaid Amey; recovered his freedom from David Ross as well as various other descendants from the said Francis Evans, by the name of Evans; that your orators and oratrixes have just reason to fear and do fear that the aforesaid Lewis Allen who holds them in slavery, will sell them, as slaves with out the limits of this commonwealth; as he has already sold several of the family aforesaid in North Carolina whose names are unknown to your orators and oratrixes ....

Edm: Randolph begs leaves to certify to the judge, that the complainant Charles Evans is now tied and confined to be sent from Richmond and probably out of the country by the order of Lewis Allen; who cannot be served with a subpoena, a prohibition is therefore prayed against Allen and all other persons.

May 7, 1805

Deposition of Robert Wills in the suit Thomas Gibson alias Mingo Jackson plt. against David Ross deft. taken in presence of the plt & Mr. Vannerson agent for Mr. Ross by consent, at the house of the said Wills this 25th day of June 1791, who being first duly sworn deposeth and saith; That about seventy years ago he was well acquainted with Jane Gibson and George Gibson her brother who were dark mulattoes who lived in the County of Charles City and were
free people;

that the said Jane Gibson had two children named Jane and George Gibson and they were also free; That the said Jane Gibson the younger intermarried with a certain ---- Evans of the said county, by whom she had several children on of whom named Francis Evans granddaughter of the Jane Gibson above named, that the said Francis Evans removed to New Kent county, where she lived and had several children, two of whom, as Francis Evans informed this deponent were named Tom and Francis Evans who were bound to one Lightfoot of New Kent. This information was made to this Depont. by the said Frances Evans the elder when she was on a visit to her friends in this County, who were neighbours to this deponent. This deponent further saith that after the great
grandchildren viz; Tom and Francis were bound to the said Lightfoot he never heard anything more relative to them. That many of the descendants of the said Gibsons and Evans now in this deponents knowledge are alive, and enjoying their freedom unmolested and have remained so since this deponents first acquaintance with *the first Jane Gibson the elder; that some of them are black, some nearly white, and others dark mulattoes which this deponent supposes proceeded from a promiscuous intercourse with different colours*. . . .

SOURCE: Petition of the Slaves Held by Lewis Allen to the Superior Court of Richmond, Virginia May 7, 1805

http://www.geocities.com/ourmelungeons/gibsontl.html
http://www.lva.lib.va.us/whoweare/exhibits/destiny/public_op...

Western PA Gibsons - Levi Gibson line

My Gibson line begins with Della C. Gibson, born 30 January, 1872 in Armstrong County, PA. Married Reuben H. Barger, also of Armstrong County. Della died on 9 November, 1939 in Kittanning, PA.

Daughter of Houston Gibson, born 1822 in Armstrong County, PA and Mary Jane Jordan, born 1835 in PA. I do not have dates of death for either. Houston's first wife was Elizabeth Reddick Gibson, daughter of Gideon Gibson.

Houston Gibson was the son of James Gibson, born 1779 in Ireland and Rebecca Knox, also of Ireland.

James was the son of Levi Gibson, of Ireland and Sidney Jane Abercrombie.

********************************
Levi Gibson Born in Ireland. Came with wife and four sons (believed to be James, John, Alexander and Hugh) to Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania in 1797. Married Sidney (Jane?) Abercrombie abt. 1775; she was of Scotch ancestry and Revolutionary stock. He was a pioneer who lived on the "Duchess Farm" in Parker Township, Butler County.
Children were:
John B. (b.ca.1776)
Alexander (b.ca.1777)
James (b.ca.1779, mar. Rebecca Knox)
Hugh (b.ca.1782, mar. Elinor McCall)
Levi (b.ca.1780)
William (b.ca.1784)
Elizabeth (b.ca.1786)
Samuel (b.ca.1788)
Jane (b.ca.1790)
Esther (b.ca.1792)
***"Levi Gibson and his wife, Sidney (Abercrombie), settled on
Scrubgrass, in Allegheny Township, about 1799, coming from the
Eastern part of this State. Their children, John, Alexander, James,
Samuel, Levi, Hugh, William, Betsey (Sloan), Jane (Redick), and
Esther (Dutchess), all lived to rear families except Alexander and
William, who died single. Nearly all resided in this county. James
settled in Parker Township. His wife was Rebecca Knox. Their
children numbered eleven--Betsey, Sidney, Levi, George, Esther,
Samuel, John, Rebecca, James, Houston and Eleanor." [From The
History of Butler County Pennsylvania, Waterman, Watkins & Co.,
Chicago, 1883.]

I'm looking for more detail on Houston Gibson (birth and death dates)
and Mary Jane Jordan(lineage)as well as James Gibson and Rebecca Knox.

Bill Barger
My ggg grandparents were Joseph Gibson and Ann Elliot who were married in Eglingham in 1809. I am trying to find their parents names. One of their sons Joseph with his nephew David McKenzie(son of David McKenzie and Elizabeth Gibson) emigrated to Australia. I believe that Joseph and Ann were in Berwick on Tweed. Any information on any of the above named would be great as I have hit the proverbial "brick wall", and I have discovered that they are common names in the area.
Thanks in anticipation

Parents of Martha Gibson of Hopkinton, Massachusetts

I am searching for the correct parents of Martha Gibson who was born 27 Mar 1753 in Hopington, Massachusetts (Hopkinton). She married 30 June 1779 in Holliston, MA to Jesse Forestall. She died 3 Mar 1844 in Holliston, MA.

Now, it is claimed that she was the daughter of William Gibson who was born 1 Apr 1735 in Boston, Massachusetts. And that her mother was Martha Wear. But, if Martha Wear was born 7 May 1744 in Sherborne, Mass. , It is very unlikely that she could be the mother as she would have been about 9 years old at the time Martha Gibson was born. Now, either Martha Wear is not the mother or her date of birth is incorrect.

Does anyone have the correct information with proof of this?
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Respectfully Yours,
Angie

Compiled by Virginia Haley Davis 1944
From loose records Williamson Co., TN., archives:
" A bill of complaint made by Sarah A. Gibson, Elijah R. Parrish and wife Catherine Parrish [Kate Gibson/?Catherine Gibson in above document transcript], Margaret Giles, Thomas Sappington and Elizabeth Sappington [Betsy Gibson/?Elizabeth Sappington in above document transcript], of Williamson County against Gabrial Faulks and Stephen Chapman, defts.
On 27 August 1825 Sarah Gibson, Catherine Parrish, Elizabeth Sappington and Mary E. Giles as heirs of _______ Gibson were entitled to a certain tract of land containing 100 acres lying on the south side of Big Harpeth on the west side of Overalls Creek and being a part of Clendenings survey.
On 27 Aug. 1827 Sarah Gibson, Josiah E. Giles the husband of Mary M. Giles , Elijah R. Parrish and Elizabeth Sappington, Snr., Elizabeth Gibson contracted to sell the tract of land for $600 with 1/3 to be paid on 25 Dec. 182_ and the remaining balance in the next two years. Josiah E. Giles is now dead and he delivered a title to said land to the defts.
Payments were not made and suit commenced. Defts. found to be insolvent and have removed to parts unknown."

The above listed Gibson girls are dau. of Patrick Gibson. Can anyone tell me abt. Patrick.
James A. Gibson at Coeur d' Alene, Spokane, WA

Greetings,
I'm seeking information on a relative, James A. Gibson, who was the Chief Musician at Fort Coeur d' Alene/Fort Sherman, Idaho from 1876-1886. His first wife, Emily Gifford Gibson apparently passed away in 1882, and he remarried to his second wife Annie J. (Wright) Gibson in 1885. After the expiration of his enlistment we believe he may have remained in the Coeur d' Alene / Spokane, Washington, area. His widow, Annie J. Gibson applied for a widow's pension with the Army in 1905. If anyone has information on James A. Gibson or Annie J. Gibson in the Spokane / Coeur d' Alene area, I would appreciate hearing from you!!!
Best wishes,
Steve Toigo
stoigo@aol.com / stoigo@ora.fda.gov

John Gibson & Agnes Adair

I have seen many times that John Gibson, husband of Agnes Adair, was killed by Indians near Nashville and Agnes went on to Mississippi with Samuel Gibson and families.

This narrative clearly says the John Gibson who was killed in 1791 was married a month before to Margaret Mayfield, widow of Sutherland Mayfield -- and then she married a third time after John Gibson was killed. Either Agnes Adair Gibson died before 1791 and never went to Mississippi or there is another John Gibson? Margaret --- Mayfield Gibson Lemons may have went south as it says that her third husband was killed around New Orleans in 1812.

In this narrative John Davis recalls he met the widow, Mrs. Mayfield, and John Gibson on their way to get married.

Anyone know who the other John Gibson might have been?

http://books.google.com/books?id=1LcRAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA212&a...

another deposition;

Deposition of John Marion of Bedford County, aged 64 years, dated 22 June 1824:

"I knew Sutherland Mayfield upwards of 2 years before his death in 1789. Her grandmother, Louisa Catherine Ramsey was a sister to my gggrandfather, Henry Edwin Ramsey. I have some letters that she wrote to my grandfather (Leo Wayne Gear) in the 1960's which indicate that she was actively tracing our Ramsey and Wingo ancestors. I would be interested in obtaining copies of any research she had as well as any family trees she may have completed.

Lorie Sullivan Williams

I have tried every resource I can think of and am wondering if there might be someone out there that can help me find him. I am also wanting to find out who Winfield and Susan's parents were . . .

Hi all! I have a Lost and Found on my website, where I post items that MAY be possible for people to link to their families. Since I've come across a GIBSON, I thought I'd post and try to find it a home.

The item is a postcard addressed to Addressed to Mrs Phebe GIBSON, Berkeley, Calif., 2320 Hilgard Avenue. I cannot read the postmark, but the stamp might provide a clue to date it by. :-)

I AM trying to sell it, but only for the price I paid for it plus shipping - and if you don't want to buy it, you can still take a copy of it from the site, free. You can see it at http://annalovesbooks.com/lostfound21.html and the entire Lost and Found at http://annalovesbooks.com/genealogy.html

Thanks!
Anna

The officer refuses to make public the details of the confession.
