The name Giddings may derive from the Middle Saxon name Geddingas (I do not know what the "as" suffix means, but it's on other Saxon names too). Geddingas are associated with Yeading, which still exists in Middlesex (and which may be synonymous with Geddinges of Saxon documents). Does anyone knows of any Giddings/ Geddings links - or are they too far in the past?
If you've any information on the origin of the Giddings name I'd be real interested!
Thanks, Glynis.
