I am looking for any information on Claude Elmer Gideon. He was born in Pueblo Co in about 1891. His Father was Rufas A. Gideon. He was the Grandson of Francis M Gideon.He was my great Grandfather,He and my Great Grandmother Emma J Finley. divorced around 1918. I think he moved to California but I really don't know.

Looking for the parents of Henry Gideon – b. 25 Sep 1810 in Erie County, Pennsylvania, married to Lydia Bevelheimer (various spellings) in 1934/35 in Mauch Chunk, Pennsylvania, and d. 17 Dec 1868 in Root Township, Adams, Indiana. I have three leads: 1) In a biography of Henry’s sons, Francis E. “Frank” and John M., their grandparents are noted as having lived an died in Erie County, Pennsylvania, 2) In the same biography a note mentions that Frank had two uncles that served in the civil war. These uncles might be Gideon and thus brothers to Henry; and 3) I found a Silis [sic] Gideon in the 1820 McKean, Erie, Pennsylvania census – I have found no other Gideons in early Pennsylvania censi. Any help would be appreciated. Erie County is not on my beaten path. Perhaps there is a researcher out there that would trade for some Southern California research. I have the history to present day for Henry Gideon. I would be happy to help anyone with details.

DoD Identifies Army Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Pfc. Nicolas H. J. Gideon, 20, of Murrieta, Calif., died July 6 at Forward Operating Base Salerno, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered earlier that day in Paktya, Afghanistan, when insurgents attacked his unit using small arms and rocket-propelled grenade fires. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska.

Jacqueline Gideon born 1933 in Montgomery TX, daughter of Joseph P. Gideon and Lillie Biggs, both buried in a cemetery outside Montgomery...Jackie married Gayle Senour Oliver in 1953 or 1954, had a son Eddie/Eddy (Edward Senour Oliver, born 1954) who we haven't seen since the early 1960's and are trying to locate him. Any help appreciated. Jackie likely remarried in the 60's, perhaps still living around Houston. Eddie/Eddy may be in Houston still. Thanks.

I don't know what you do know or don't know, but this is what I have.

John "Calvin" GIDEON born about 1822 in Alabama, I have no death date either.
I have him married to Artemesia Artamisa Auitimeecy Artimissa MATKIN.
There is a Calvin GIDEON who sho up on land records in 1848 Iron Co,MO. also. ( see 1860 census below )

From what little I have been able to gather, I believe this family was in Texas in the 1920-30.s
Do you have any more information on this Lorine Pedigo-Gideon. I am unable to place her in the Pedigo line at this time.

I have John as being born to James Gideon and Mary Brock around 1846 in Kentucky and that they were married abt. 1842,and I found a James Gideon and wife Mary on the 1850 census in Casey< Ky. but the age of the children wouldn't match up with the date of marriage for James and Mary. When I next find him he was living in Mt. Auburn with Martha and Lafayette Igou with his son Charles age 8. According to family members Martha raised Charles as he dad remarried to a Alice Harrison in 1880. From their I lose him. I did find all of the children but one from his marriage to Naomi Caroline Williams. On the marriage license of his and Caroline's it list his parents as James Gideon and Mary Brock.

As I told you before John gave his girls away to neighbors. His 3rd daughter Justa was the last child born in 1878 and Caroline died a few days after her birth. She was given to the next door neighbors. His other daughter Leota was living with a Milligan at the time of her marriage to Charles Milligan and was given permission to marry by Charles' mother. The other girl has not been found so it might be that she died or was taken out of state. And his son Charles ended up with Martha.

I have all kinds of information on John's first wife's family and a little on his second wife's. But as far as his parents I don't have a lot. John still has 3 great grandchildren that are living in the Mt. Auburn and Springfield, Illinois area, one great grandchild in Missouri.

I have the marriage register page with the entry of Martha Gideon and Wm. F. Igou on August 25, 1875, license 3809 in Sangamon Co., IL.

There is also a James Gideon listed with his wife Sarah in 1880 also in Christian Co.

My goodness I am so glad to hear from you. I have information on John and his first wife and their children. When his first wife died he gave the girls away and I assume Martha and her husband raised Charles. Will gladly share what I have you can e-mail me direct.

Dear Norman, I wish we could have connected but my Gideon's came out of Tennessee and Kentucky and settled in Illinois and Missouri. Now I am not saying that some didn't go on to Idaho but I don't have any records on those who might have traveled farther west. Sorry I couldn't help you but will keep you on file in case I run across something.

I am looking for information on Theodore Gideon who was born in abt 1841 in Fulton Co., Ohio, married Mary Elizabeth Garrison on 13 Feb 1859 in Van Buren Co., Iowa. He died from disease during the Civil War near Springfield, MO where he is buried in the National Cemetery there. Anything would be greatly appreciated. I recently purchased a bunch of old photos. Two of the photos shows two young woman. On the reverse is written "Terry Bauer and Allie (unreadable - maybe Gideon)". The photographs were taken at a photo studio in Ft. Wayne Indiana. The photographs were taken during the 1890-1900 timeframe. Maybe someone will recogize their ancestors.

I am the great grandson of Elmer Gideon.He was married to my Great Grandmother but divorced in around 1920. I am looking for information on him. I know he lived in Granada Colorado at the time when my Grandmother was born Edith Gideon.I was told he moved to California and was a police man. I think he was born in Pueblo Colo and His father was Rufas and Mother was Belle Davis. But I would like conformation on this.

I got a reply yesterday from Mark Gideon. H said that Z Ashuell Gideon is the grandson of Henry Gideon who was a brother to George Gideon who is his gggg grandfather. I haven't gone into this yet, but I thought I would send you the names just in case you run into them. If I can get more information I will let you know

I am from a line of Gideon that I am having difficulty tracing. My sisters and I are the last of our Gideon branch. Maybe a distant cousin could help me find our common ancestor link.

John W Gideon married Harriet York (my great-great-great grandfather).

James Madison Gideon married Mary Jane Manes (my great-great grandfather).

Ernest Wesley Gideon married Daisy Baker (my great grandfather).

William James Gideon Senior married Eilleene Faye Randolph (my grandfather).

William James Gideon Junior married Mercedes Galindo (my father).

I would deeply appreciate anyone who would be willing to help me go past the generation of John W Gideon. I have come to a barricade and wish to proceed searching my maiden name for as far back as I can go.

He was born in Fairplay, South Carolina. He was first married to Ms. Rosetta M. Sanders they had 14 children and Ms. Sanders died in 1938. He was then married to Ms. Allie Lindsey. By the time of his death at age 79 he was only survived by his wife Ms. Allie Lindsey and 9 of his children and of course a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and at that time 1 great-great-grandchild. He was an ordained Presbyterian minister as of 1898. He taught school in Homer, GA and pastored and or helped to start many churches.
