I am the last of my Gideon Pedigree.

I am from a line of Gideon that I am having difficulty tracing. My sisters and I are the last of our Gideon branch. Maybe a distant cousin could help me find our common ancestor link.

John W Gideon married Harriet York (my great-great-great grandfather).

James Madison Gideon married Mary Jane Manes (my great-great grandfather).

Ernest Wesley Gideon married Daisy Baker (my great grandfather).

William James Gideon Senior married Eilleene Faye Randolph (my grandfather).

William James Gideon Junior married Mercedes Galindo (my father).

I would deeply appreciate anyone who would be willing to help me go past the generation of John W Gideon. I have come to a barricade and wish to proceed searching my maiden name for as far back as I can go.

Victoria Eileene Gideon

I give! Is anyone missing a John W. Gideon from Missouri from there family tree. Born around 1876 + - a year. His dad was John W. Gideon.

I need help!

I have searched and e-mailed others when I found a John Gideon and they say they have there John. So I am at a road block. This is what I know.

John Wesley Gideon
Birth on death certificate is Jan. 26, 1874. Missouri
Death Aug. 19, 1930 in Colorado Springs, Colorado

He married a Rose Anderson in 1906 in Colorado.
Both there age is listed as 31. I know Rose is older then that at that time. She was born in 1871. If I go by the age on his death certificate then that would be about right. They where married Jan. 1, 1906.

He was born in Missouri as was his parents.
It states on the death certificate that his dad was John W. Gideon. Mother Unknown.

Nothing else is on the death certificate. My grandmother said she went back to Missouri a lot when she was little. My grandmother has since passed so I cannot ask her anything.

I found him in the 1910 and 1920 census in Colorado.

So if you are looking for a John Gideon and this sounds like it might fit. Let me know.
Thanks.

Richard Gideon Revolutionary War Monroe County MS

I have a picture that I took in 1989 of a tombstone of Richard Gideon. This was taken in Monroe County Mississippi, at what I know as "Center" or Senter Cemetery. It's actually very wooded on a side street off of Hwy 8 in Greenwood Springs - what is known as Quincy/Wise Gap. The property near the tombstones was owned by James Taylor (not sure who owns it now), and I have that it was previously owned by the Bookers, Grays, & Wises. Other tombstones there are of Elizabeth Booker Lay and her husband John Lay. There may be a dozen other markers as well. What I can read from the tombstone (before the error of digital cameras) is Richard Gideon, Pvt. Duvales Co., C. Troops Rev. War, November 7, 1834.
What I need to know if this is the Richard Gideon who is the father of Catherine Elizabeth Gideon (married William Wise)? Everytime I search for information, it shows that this is Richard Gidden(s), born in 1765. I'm hoping that birth date is incorrect, as Catherine was born in 1775. Also, I've come across an Elizabeth Gideon trying to collect a pension from the Revolutionary war for her husband Richard of Monroe County - don't know anything about Elizabeth. Would appreciate any information on Richard - please email me direct at KimSprecher@aol.com.

Jesse Elbert GIDEON b. 1883 St. Francois County, Missouri d. 1947 St. Louis

Marcella Janette "Jean" and "Jennie" TAYLOR was married to
Jesse Elbert GIDEON.

In her fathers obit (George W. Taylor ) in 1927 it shows her as
Mrs. Jennie Gideon of Alton, Ill.

I know Marcella Janette "Jean" and "Jennie" TAYLOR had two
daughters named Gladys F. b.December 06, 1911 and
Corrine abt. 1909.

~ From hear say ~ I was told that Gladys F. was born out of wedlock and Marcella "Jennie" brother took her to raise.
Don't have a clue which brother or if that is even true.

On Jesse Elbert GIDEON Draft Card it does show him and his wife's name Jennie.

Then I found Jesse Elbert and Jennie on the 1920 Census in
Alton, Madison County, Illinois with one daughter named Corrine age 11. ....No Gladys!

Now...On the 1930 Census Granite, Madison Co,ILL. I find Jesse Elbert GIDEON living with his brother and his wife Homer and Pearl GIDEON.
Jesse Elbert GIDEON on this 1930 Census shows as widow.
We know he is not a widow.

Then on the obit for JESSE E. GIDEON in 1947 it shows that
Mr. Gideon had never married.

As you can see I'm really have a time with finding info and the correct info. I want to know who is the father of Marcella "Jennie" TAYLOR's daughters? Is Corrine his?
Would also love to find the marriage place and date for both of her marriage I do know about.

No info is to small!
Thank You for reading.

Theresa

I am looking for pictures of my father George William Gideon (Aug 25th, 1935). His mother and father are Mary & George Gideon. He died of pancreas cancer in 1979 when I was just 5 years old. I have no pictures of him and would like to see what my father looked like.
He has two 1/2 brothers Charlie Bday Aug 27th and Jack Meyer. I believe Jack Meyer lives in Germany somewhere and Charlie may be in Indiana right now.
If you have any information, please email me.
tgideon@chiquita.com

I'm trying to find George Gideon, born in KY in 1846, had multiple wives and several children, including my gg-grandfather, Blythe Gideon, born in 1895. I have been told that Andrew Gideon and Matilda Lynch are his parents, but nobody can prove it. I have seen on several censuses that George lists the birthplace of his father to be KY, Andrew Gideon was born in TN. I have info about most of his children and their children/whereabouts, don't hesitate to ask!!!

Thank you, and happy hunting!!

Jonna

Does anyone have any information on Clark Geddings. He was a black man, born in Georgia approx. 1852 and died approx. 1931 in Georgia. He lived in Wilkes county, the city of Washington. He married Louisa Fleming in March of 1872. My oral family history states that they had no biological children of their own, but that they raised my g-grandmother Mary Louise Geddings, as well as Mary's daughter, Mary Louise Pharr. Abram Geddeon is the only other Black person I have been able to locate in living in Wilkes county who might be related.
If any one has any info. on Clark, Louisa or Abram, please let me know.

Thanks
Malinda

JAMES ALEXANDER GIDEON, b. 1854, son of James & Martha Gideon, married ELIZA PARALEE. I've seen Eliza Paralee's surname as Hays, but I've also seen her maiden name as Anderson. Could any of you tell me which information is correct?.

If it helps, my file shows three children for James and Eliza Gideon: Ellen Eliza (b.1877), James William (b. 1879), and Mary.

Also if it helps, I know that after JAMES A. GIDEON died 1880, ELIZA PARALEE married LEVIN GEORGE LANDING 1882. They had 5 children between 1887-1896: Joseph, Benjamin, Mary, Sarah, and Marja.

I'd appreciate any tidbit of information on ELIZA PARALEE HAYS/ANDERSON, wife of JAMES ALEXANDER GIDEON..
Elinore

Joseph F Gideon

I am the Great-Great Grandson of Joseph F. Gideon, born in 1820 or 1821 in Mississippi or Georgia. Came to Texas in 1839 and Married Mitilda Davis first. I come from his second marriage to Lydia Hager. Joseph had six children with Mitilda and four with Lydia Hager. My Great Grandfather was George Washington Gideon who was a twin to Murphy Gideon. They were the last two children born of Joseph. My Grandfather was Emmett Harrison Gideon and my Father was Emmett Eugene Gideon. I found some unvarified info that Joseph's second wife might have been Martha Davis of Georgia. I am trying to follow the Gideon line back to it's orgin in Europe.

GIDEON, HAYS, ANDERSON Franklin Co. MO 1865-1882

Samuel Hays of Franklin Co. MO, who died during the Civil War,was married to Elizabeth Ellen Crockett. They had two daughters, one Mary E. and one S. J. Hays. I have seen these names on the 1880 census for Elizabeth Ellen Crockett Hays and her 2nd husband, Henry Anderson (Elizabeth was Henry's 3rd wife). I think the "S.J." stands for Sarah Jane, but I'm not sure. (The 1880 census, as you know, used too many initials instead of names.

I'm pasting that 1880 census below (I hope it converts to this format). You will see that Elizabeth Ellen's ("E.")daughter "S. J." was named Gideon in 1880. Her husband is not there, but she has two children.

1880 census transcribed FHL Film 1254686 Nat'l Archives Film T9-0686 P. 185A:
H. MO

This is a very complex household. Sorry this has to be so complicated; you can see why I'm confused. I'm just asking if anyone has any information about Samuel Hays and Elizabeth Ellen Crockett's daughter S. J. (1) Who is the Gideon that she married? (2) Also, is she the Sarah Jane Hays who in 1882 married William Anderson, son of Henry & his 2nd wife Martha Bandy?
Elinore

While going through an old Everett family Bible, we found an entry for Thomas Hemphill who married Frances Beasley on November 23, 1841. Does anyone know who these people are and why they are listed in the Everett Bible? We have found no record of these surnames anywhere else in our family. The Everett family was from Barren County, Kentucky.

Anyone heard of Charles Guitean (Gideon) Or the poem?

I have an old poem that is in regards to Charles Guitean.
It is as follows:

Come all ye tender young Christians and listen to what I have to say,
And likewise pay attention to these few words of me,
Tis for the murder of James A. Garfield I am condemned to die,
On the 20th day of June I shall meet my fatal doom,

My name it is Charles Guitean, My name I'll never deny,
I leave my aged parents In sorrow far to die,
And but little did they think while in my youthful bloom,
Would be taken to the scaffold to meet my fatal doom,
Twas down by the railroad station I thought I'd make my escape,
But providence against me Alass it was too late,
They taken me to prison in irons they bound me down,
On the 20th day of June I shall meet my fatal doom.

My sister came to prison to bid her last farewell,
She threw her arms around me and wept most bitterly,
Said she my darling brother tomorrow you must die,
For the murder of James A. Garfield all on the scaffold high.
I thought I'd laugh and sing but I knew that would not do,
The people all against me Alass it was too true,
Judge Cook he read the sentence and the clerk he wrote it down,
On the 20th day of June I shall meet my fatal doom.
___

I'm not sure if this poem was written in my family or if this person and such story did exsist, I am most eager to find out. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
