Who has info on GIFTs employed as cigar makers? I am doing local history research on cigar manufacturing in North Manchester, Indiana, and the surrounding communities. According to advertising circa 1888 in North Manchester, GIFT BROS cigars were locally produced. Based on my research, Francis Marion GIFT (Frank M. Gift) was involved in making cigars in both Wabash and Kosciusko counties. This GIFT family came from Eaton, Preble Co., Ohio, and at least one of Frank's brothers (Charles Calvin)- also made cigars for a living. Does anyone have info on the possible involvement of other GIFT families in the tobacco culture of North Carolina, Ohio, Indiana or elsewhere? What about the GIFTs in Huntington and Grant counties in Indiana? Or in other states such as Missouri and Illinois? I am not a GIFT descendant (my wife is a ROYER)...just a researcher and former owner of a building in our local community known as the "cigar factory".
