By any chance was he buried in Kentucky because I remember my father taking me to a grave site when I was a child with the name Green Gilbert who fought in the civil war and he is supposed to be my Great x3 or 4 Uncle. But I don't remember his middle name it was so long ago...

Hello, there. Thanks for the reply. Yes, I did find out that Sadie Gilbert was the daughter of Lewis Mock. Lewis Mock's sister, Marie Mock Selby, was my maternal great grandmother. I haven't figured out what site you are referring to for Stickler on genealogy.com. Is it on Gilbert or Mock message board sites? Haven't been able to find it.
My email address is gkrockingranny@gmail.com

When Benjamin died 1830 in Putnam County, Georgia, he had a daughter with two young sons living in his household. He did not give their names. He said she had been abandoned by her husband and was dependent on him (Benjamin) for her & her children for a home. One of her sons was about three years old. He may have been my great grandfather James Lamar Gilbert born 23 June 1827 in Putnam Co. GA (Military Records). Any information about her and children would be appreciated.

Hi Kim,

If you'd like to see if anyone here can help you, I'd start a new thread. Put in the subject "William Gilbert of Boston b. xxxx d. xxxx" so people might immediately be able to recognize him. In the post itself, include as much information as you can on him...dates, places, wives, children, etc...

You might also want to search the following website to see if you can find him there.

http://www.familysearch.org

One word of warning, though, you shouldn't believe ANYTHING you find on the Internet without verifying it. There is a lot of bad information out there, and it just keeps getting replicated by people not verifying it first. If you should find something on your William and it comes without sources, just consider it something you can try to prove.

Jane

There's been an even bigger development in this line now.

A descendant of Thomas of Braintree's son John was tested, and he matches the descendants of Thomas' son Obadiah.

So we now have the descendants of sons Jonathan and Thomas with one type of DNA, and the descendants of sons Obadiah and John with another type.

Of course this all assumes the research provided is correct.

More descendants of this line need to be tested. Please contact me if you're interested. The good news here is that a lower marker test is sufficient to determine which of the lines you match. That means the test will cost less than a higher marker test.

http://www.janegilbert.org/gilbertdna/braintreeall.htm

Jane
Gilbert DNA Admin

I've just found and read your reply. I'd love to hear from you.

Please email me at bonnefleur@hotmail.com. Also, I have Claudia "Claudie" Gilbert's death record. It says her maiden name was Richie, although my grandmother always said it was "Reach"..I'm not sure if it's a typo or if it was truly Richie.

Kind regards,

Maggie

Re: James David Gilbert/Cathrine Matilda Birkin-UK

I have been building my family tree - Nunn Family Tree. My mother's mother was Rosetta Nellie Barr - who married James Leslie Loller. My research via another member of Ancestry.com has indicated that James David Gilbert was born in 1830 in Not, Umgebung, Styria, Austria. This intrigues me because I have also found that James Leslie Loller's maternal grandparents, James Everest b. 1830 & Mary (Uln) Everest were also born in Not, Umgeberg, Styria. I do not know whether the members that have offered this info have seen documentation that confirms this, so I do not know whether it is correct. Hope this helps. Leanne

Her Maiden name was probably Parent or Paraunt. There is also a big question of when she was born. Various census, death, and obituary record have conflicting dates for her age. She seems to have had a few different names as well, depending on which records you look at. Additionally, Some of her children were born in NY, and others in MI, and WI, and her oldest son was born in canada. A lot of odd things going on.

The elder William died at sea, and after his wife died, their son, William M.
Good day Jane,
I am replying to this message, however, the question I have for you is not in relation to this post. You seem to have a lot of knowledge of the Gilbert line, and as I am relatively new to this research I hope you can help me. I have been given through my grandfather a lot of research that has my ancestor William Gilbert of Boston, but that is where the research stops. It was/is obviously a small line, as there is not much said about that line in any message board I have encountered. Can you give me some guidance on where to look for more information. Thank you very much in advance for any help you can give me.
Kim Gilbert kimmygilbert@hotmail.com

I am seeking information about John Gilbert who lived in Boddington c1650-1703.

Nothing is known of John apart from the baptism at Boddington St John Baptist of six children. A break in baptismal dates suggests two different mothers; and there is no certainty that father John is the same person for each group of children.

Mother named as Mary: Robert chr 1671 and John chr 1673;
Mother not named: Elizabeth chr 1688, Thomas chr 1690, Alice chr 1692 and John chr 1698 - 1770

In July 1703 the burial is recorded at Boddington St John Baptist of John Gilbert. No other information is known but it is conceivable that he was born in 1650 and died at 53 years of age.

Re: Looking for Louis Gilbert

Not sure if this helps any, but his marriage 2/6/1921 in Mt Clemens MI, Wayne county, gave his birthyear as 1900, parents as Joseph Gilbert and Fannie Goldberg. The 1920 census has his arrival as 1914, and with a possible brother Dav Gilbert 18, also arrived 1914. They are roomers in a home. There is a marriage record for David M Gilbert born 1903 Russia, wed 3/8/1925 to Lillian Weingarten in Detroit. He gives his parents names as Joseph Gilbert and Charlotte Goldberg. Maybe someone in David Gilbert's family could have some clues, if you can track down his family members.
