Gilford / Heap, New Hampshire

William Heap (b.abt 1825, Plymouth, Devon) emigrated to the USA in the 1850s. His brother James was my gr-gr-granfather.
William and his wife Mary had several children and one of them Mary (b. 1857, NH) married Charles Gilford (b. 1858, NH).
I have traced two children Charles (b. 1879, NH) and Frank (b. 1882, NH). Charles had two children, Elenor (b.abt 1897, NH) and Donald (b. 1909, NH).

Does this ring any bells with anyone?

I have discovered that my gr-gr-grandfather James Heap (b. c1827, Plymouth, Devon) had a brother William (b c1825, Portsmouth, Hants) who emigrated to the USA with his wife Mary in the 1850s, settling in Manchester, New Hampshire. They had two children before leaving England, Ann (b c1850, Droylsden, Lancs.) and Henry (b c1851, Lancashire). After settling in New Hamphire they had another four girls, Mary E. (b 1857), Alice (b c1860), Elizabeth (b c1863), Emma J. (b c1864) and Olive (b c1870).

Does this ring a bell with anyone?

The youngest of the girls, Olive (b c 1870), married a John M. Cox (b c1867, NH)and to the best of my knowledge they had no children. The 1900-30 US censuses show them living in Laconia NH.

One of the girls, Mary (b c1857, NH), married a Frank Gilford (b 1858, NH)and they had two sons Charles (b 1879, NH) and Frank (b 1882, NH).
Charles had two daughters, Lenora (b 1908, NH)and Ruth R (b 1914, NH). Frank had a daughter Elenor (b1907, NH) and a son Donald (b1909, NH).

I am related to Gilfords for Alabama. They lived in Barbour County in 1870 and later moved to Georgia. The names in my tree are Sam, Sarah,William,George,Kittie,and Ceala. George married Sylla Powell and they had Judge,Curtis,and Lester.
Do any of these names sound familiar?

I think the family below on the 1880 census in Texas is the one you`re looking for. It includes the only Spencer Gilford on the US census index in 1880. The head of the family is Archer Gilford born in Alabama. The only Gilfords in Alabama on the 1850 & 1860 census Slave Schedules are in Henry Co. They were evidently owned by men named John & Joseph Gilford/Guilford in Hilliardsville & Lawrenceville, Henry Co., AL.

Im searching for George Gilford, b 1878/1871. He lived in Henry County Alabama and married a woman named Silla or Druscilla Powell b 1880. They moved to Early GA and had three sons Judge, Les, Curtis.

POW/MIA Korean War, GILFORD

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Mahoning County Ohio as his home of record. His remains were never recovered.

Soldier: ROBERT JAMES GILFORD
Born: August 28, 1932, Black
Date of loss: November 26, 1950

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Gilford family is one of those missing.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Trying to find information on the parents of Fannie and Sallie Gilford. Mothers name was Elizabeth born abt: 1834. After the death of her husband, name unknown she married Jeremiah V. Mathes of Owen Co., IN. No information available on the internet except the LDS files, which do not give fathers name. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My grandfather James Ammie (Bud) Anderson was the husband of May Gilford - found on Coffee County, Alabama, Peacock Township, 1920 Census. Living with them was May's mother, H.V. Gilford, Age 64. Looking for contacts that can help me locate information on my grandmother (May Gilford) family, parents etc. Grandmother May passed away when my mother was young and my grandfather married the second time to Vester Lolley.

MY GRANDFATHER AND GREAT GRAND FATHER ARE CLARENCE THOMAS SMITH SR. AND JR. HAD DAUGHTER'S WILLIE SUE, AND BLANHE KAY SMITH WHOM MARRIED A PERSON. LIVED IN MICH, AND TENN. I am trying to gather information to show my black seminole ancestry. My great-grandfather was of Black Seminole decent. The most information I could gather from census records is that of his own family from 1900. His name was Julian Gilfore, a black male age of 34 with no known birth date on the report. Both of his parents were born in Texas, they moved to Louisiana were he was born (est. birth year 1866). Julian Gilfore had been married for 13 years to his wife Martha at the time of the 1900 census report and they had 4 children 3 girls and 1 boy ages ranging from 14 to 1(Authur, Cifornia, Ada and Ida). My grandmother (Ida Gilfore) was born in May of 1899. My grandmother later married Clarence Mahoney and moved to Beaumont, Texas had 4 children - Aunt Elna is the last of their family alive now and lives in Orange, Texas.
Our history is not one easily found in records, so if you have any family connection here please let me know where and with whom.

I'm sorry that it was so long for me to answer you back. When I saw it the name of Archie Gilford. About 30 years ago it was a family came to Trinity, Tx. for the Gilford family reuion. They were from Beaumont, Tx. The one I mention was my uncles but with father was Ed Gilford from Trinity.
Now, Ed Gilford father name was Archie Gilford and he had to live in 1800's, cause my grandfather was born in 1897 from the records that I have now.
So what ever you find out. Just e-mail me when you have the time. I'll be watching the e-mail until I hear from you.
Oh yes, send me yours with infromation. There are others in Trinity, Tx. still living.
