Hey there,

I am a direct descendant from Eleanor and Thomas Gillispie. My name is Tina Kinder. My grandma Esther Davis's mom was a Gillispie from that family line. I believe her name was "Molly" Louvenia Gillispie from West Virgina who married Jim Davis from West Virgina. My parents just recently went back there for a family reunion from the Davis side.

The Gillespies, along with the Radfords, Janneys, Underwoods, Gustlers, and Smiths were all neighbors on top of the Blue Ridge Mountains shortly after the Revolutionary War. Over the past twenty-five years I have been trying to collect and make available as many of the descendants of those six families as possible. Regularly I receive e-mails from across the country from cousins who use my research, and then add what they can to the bottom of the descendant chains, mostly from the late 1800's and forward. This is a way we can provide an electronic memorial for those who long ago made our existences possible now. Thanks for any help that anyone can provide.

Chiptser: I am Bernie Radford, Lastradford@yahoo.com. Gracy Brogan was the daughter of John Brogan (b. 1809) and Francis (b. 1825). John was the son of Robert Brogan and Grace Allen (probably where Gracy's name came from). John and Francis lived in the same neighborhood, Longbranch District of Franklin County Virginia, were the Gillespies (Galaspys, an earlier of many spellings for this family name.). Their children can be found in the 1860, 1870, and 1880 Franklin County cenus records. I also have many of the earlier Gillespies. I would be happy to help in whatever way I can.
I am also looking for the children and grandchilren of Thomas Jackson and Grace Brogan Gillespie, would appreciate any help you can provide. It is better to give than receive. Bernie Radford

Hello,
Do you have a William Gillispie in your tree? I am trying to find some info on him. He would be my GGrandfather. I am not certain on who he actually married except that I have my Grandmothers info saying her mother was Florence Wolf, but I cannot find anymore info on her either. My Grandmothers name is Lula Ann Gillispie Taylor. She married James Albert Taylor. If you would like to see my Web Site, it is www.tribalpages.com/tribes/drmcatcher1974. Thank you.

Mine was born in 1901 (+ or-), and was Jr., not Sr. I am not sure about Sr.'s birth date. I do know that my Grandmother was supposed to have been born in/around 1890, but I did find her and her brother, Elder, living with their Aunt whom was a Hill in 1900 Census in Teays Valley District in WV. That is the only proof I have so far with her in it, but it does show that she was born in 1893 instead of 1890. I do know that her other brother, William McKinley Jr. is burried around the Coal River area and was married to Ruth, but I do not know her maden name. She was from Californina. He was also called "Wild Bill". I was told many years ago that William Sr. had land in/around Winfield, WV and someone told him if he turned the land over to someone else, he would be able to get "old age pension", so he did turn it over to someone, but of course they lied to him, and he lost the land. I am not sure exactly what land he had.

Actually, James and Lula was married so I guess they wrote it in wrong, but it sounds like that may be them. I assume that they lived with William and Susan Gillispie whom is Lula's parents. that is more info that I have found by myself. Thank you so much! Would there be any more info with any of them?
I am sure that the first and second set are not the ones I am looking for, but I doubt that the third one is the ones I am looking for eventhough the birthdate of William could be close and I have never heard anything about them going to Oklahoma. I do know that William's wife (Florence or Susan) is burried at the Mount Tabor Church in St. Albans, WV. I do have a 1900 census showing that my Grandmother, Lula Ann and her brother, Elder, living with their Aunt whom is a Hill. Does that help any?

We would appreciate any help identifying photos of the members of the Toney or Gillispie families which appear in the WHAT’S NEW section at our website http://forneyclarkgenealogy.com These 15 scans of tintypes originally appeared in a photo album owned by Mary Jane Gillispie Toney (1851-1907). Specific names associated with these pictures are John Edward Toney (1851-1932) and Mary Jane Gillispie Toney (1851-1907) of the Poindexter Toney II (b. 1818) and Elizabeth Jarrett Toney (b. 1824) line. Thank you for info, for opinions, or for just taking a look.

Gillispie, Gillespie, Glasbie

Am looking for information on Sylvenus Gillispie who lived in Pitkin ( Pitcarin ) NY. This is now part of Fort Drum, NY.

He married Angeline Peck and they had a son Andrew Jackson Gillispie born in 1857, who moved to Ellisburg NY. I found a Sylvenus Glasbie married to Angeline in a census and it indicated he was born in Rhode Island. This could be the same person as the census was from the Northern NY area near Pitkin.
Any information anyone has on Gillispie, Gillespies from Rhode Island would be greatly appreciated.
