That is great you plan on joinging the project. We now have ten participants. You will need to persuade a male Gillit relative to give up some of his DNA since the yDNA is not passed on to daughters--only to sons. So I hope you have someone. Sorry about the web address: it is www.ftdna.com
We currently have these surnames in the project: Gillette, Gillett, Gillet, Gellett, Jellett.

I have the maiden name Gillit through my father. The link you put in didn't work. I would like to participate with the DNA test to see it is possible.

Gillit yDNA Surname Project

I'm the co-administrator of the Gillett/Gillette DNA surname project hosted by Family Tree DNA found at www.ftdna.com
We have five participants so far: three Gillett, one Gillette, and one Gillet. But no Gillit participants yet. This project is useful in determining genetic relationship and finding out if people of the same surname have a common ancestor. Thus one can sort out the different family lines and also discover if any of the spelling variants are related to each other. Please visit our website and get more information. Our website is at http://www.familytreedna.com/(b3vrbvaniygbfvrkgbzfkb21)/publ...
