Re: Needing info. about Mrs. Olgam M. Gimson

Mrs Olga (sic) M. Gimson (nee Harvey) was my grandmother - she was born around 1885 and died around 1965. She lived in Leicester all her life - most notable aspects of her life were (1) she was captain of the England (field) hockey team, (2) she was a county level golfer until well into her 60's, (3) she never worked, but volunteered instead with the Red Cross. Undoubtedly the nedal you describe was presented to her as a result of her service.

Guy Gimson

Lucy Gimson/Andrew Geddes

A relative had an old list written by the father of Andrew Geddes (1844-1921) that said Andrew married Lucy Gimson. We have found he married Florence or Elizabeth Towers in about 1868. Can't find anything else about Lucy Gimson. Andrew was born in Canada and his family moved to Iowa when Andrew was 14.
