Hi there, My aunt Hazel and my cousin Joyce Johnson is interested in anything at all on the Girault family. Please send whatever you think would be of interest to them. I will ask my aunt by letter about Edward although she was the youngest born of Ethel Girault so I am not sure she knows anything but you never know. You and my Aunt Hazel would be second cousins. She knew none of her mothers family at all. She didnt know anything about the Girault family until I found the information on Steve Giraults website.I remember hearing my aunts sisters talk about how they had never even seen a photo of their mom. Maybe seeing a photo of her grandmother Anna Unger will give her some idea of what Ethel looked like. I will ask my Aunt about the Surname Shirley. Maybe it will ring a bell with her.
My mother is Hazels Stepsister and was the child of Sams second wife Edith. My mom was raised with them though just the same as their own biological sister. If you send me your email address I will send you the word file I have on Ethel Giraults family with a photo of Sam and all the children. Thanks again,
Jayson

I HAVE COPIES OF PAPERS ON EDWARD, THAT THE NAVAL ACAD GAVE TO US. WHERE HE WAS TRYING TO GET HIS PENSION. DO YOU WANT ME TO SEND THAT INFO ALSO ? IS SHE ONLY INTERESTED IN EDWARD ? AS SOON AS I GET A DAY OFF FROM WORK, I WILL GET IT MAILED OUT. IS THERE ANYTHING SHE CAN REMEMBER ABOUT THAT FAMILY ? YOUR AUNT MUST BE A DISTANT COUSIN TO ME. MY GRANDFATHER ARSENE #2. WAS A BROTHER TO ETHEL. AS CHILDREN MY FATHER WOULD TAKE US DOWN TO BERKLEY SPRINGS TO VISIT. BUT WE CAN'T REMEMBER WHO THEY WERE. I THINK THE SURNAME SHIRLEY WAS ONE. THEY TALKED ABOUT A FARM WHERE MY MOM AN DAD STAYED WITH RELATIVES WHEN THEY GOT MARRIED. THAT WAS IN 1932.

Hi and thanks very much. Buela Butts was my Aunt and her husband James was my fathers first cousin. We really loved Buela very much. I worked for her husband James one summer He owned and operated Butts Tree service in Martinsburg for many years. Hazel Kackley is my aunt that is still living. She lives on Thompson Street in Martinsburg. She is the last of the 11 children of Ethel Girault.I would LOVE to have a photo of Phoebe Unger to give to my Aunt. She would LOVE that I know. I have a photo of the Arsenes I got from Steve Giraults site. I will see if anyone in her family knows anything about Edward. The ones that may have known him are all passed on now. If you can email me Phobes photo that would be great. My email is jayse_71@yahoo.com I will be sure and tell my Aunt the story of Edward being in the military prison. I hope somone can someday come up with a picture of Edward. I dont know why my aunts family had no photos of the Giraults. I had searched a long time for information on Edward Girault and always came to a dead end. I dont even know what he did for a living maybe a farmer. He was well educated so he could have been anything I suppose. Its a shame there is no tombstone for Edward. I got a bunch of tin ones from Browns a few years ago and went around to relatives graves and placed them there I check every couple of years to see if they are still there. They only cost a couple of dollars each.
Well thanks and I look forward to the photo of Phobe
Jayson Myers

I did read Steve Giraults website. I contacted him several months ago he said he was going to continue and update the site eventually. I have a picture of Ethel Giraults husband and all the children circa 1940 Ethel was dead by then. The census list Edward living with Samuel and Ethel Gantt.
Steves site lists Ethel Giraults husband as Samuel Grant but in fact it is Gantt. It also said that Edward died in Sleepy Creek District of Maryland when in fact this is in Morgan County W.Va. as well as the Crossroads Church.I will ask my aunt if she was ever told anything about Edward, She is the only one living the rest are all deceased. I will write her a letter

Thanks Jay

They lived in Berkeley County West Virginia Near the Virginia state line.
Ethel was born in 1882 so I would guess her father was born around 1860.There are no records of any other Giraults in the area and I could not find a death certificate for Edward Girault..
thanks Jay

Hi and thanks for answering my rootsweb post. My aunt who is still
living was the daughter of Ethel Girault who was the daughter of Edward
Girault. Ethel married Samuel Gantt in Berkeley County W.Va. Edward lived
with Samuel and Ethel before his death but little was known about him
by his grandchildren. Ethel died when my aunt was a baby and she has no
memories of her at all. The family doesnt even have a photograph of
their mother. My aunt is the last of 11 children born of Ethel Girault
Gantt. Do you have ANY photos of any of the Girault family you would be
willing to share. It would make my aunt very happy to see them. I
found a book on ebay dated 1835. It was put together by Arsene Girault It
was a french book and I sent it to my Aunt. She was very glad to
receive it. She still lives in Berkeley County W.Va. She is really a great
lady.
Thanks again for the information. I hope you can find Phobes burial
place, May be there is no stone to mark her burial.
I look forward to hearing from you again

Hi Christian,

It is me, Elizabeth Kusterer. I am sorry I lost touch w/ you. I have been dealing w/ cancer and divorce.

Allen Wheatly was Eugene's son-in-law. He married Ella and they had a daughter, Helen. I have been told that Ella died of Spanish Flu. Allen gave his daughter to his sister-in-law to raise and went to work as a line man out west.
This account is owned by by step-dad, who graciously lets me use it.

Please email me at elizabethkunkel@yahoo.com
Regards,
Beth
Hi Steve,

The web site isn't working. Do you have information about the Girault family in Quebec or France? I am trying to track down information about Anne Girault who married Mathurin Gaultier. I have no dates or places except for their daughter: Marie Louise Gaultier who was born on Sept. 29, 1678 in Quebec. She married Jean Casse in Detroit in 1707.
Thanks!

Lynn Allard
Lynnallard@aol.com
