I am researching the Girouard family who lived in West Warren around 1900. I have Anthanase Girouard married to Marie Lapierre. Marie died in 1908 and is buried in St. Paul's cemetery in Warren, but Anthanase is not buried with her. Do you have the ages of Anthanase and Emilie at the time of their marriage and do you know if this was Anthanase's second marriage? I would like to check to see if this is the same Anathanse. The family I am researching also had connections to Grafton, MA.

M. Marin Girouard est mort vendredi soir, a l'age avance de 100 ans, chez son fils a Ste. Marie. Il est le grand-pere de M. Edouard Girouard avocat de Moncton.

Le defunt etait un des derniers survivants de la guerre de 1812-14. Son grand-pere, Gervais Girouard, fut fait prisonnier politique a Halifax, quelque temps apres la dispersion des Acadiens de Port Royal. Apres sa delivrance, il alla s'etablir pres Fredericton et demeura dans la environs de cette ville assez long temps. Enfin, il vint habiter le comte de Kent, ou naquit Marin Girouard en 1794.

La defunt s'enrola dans l'armee britannique a l'age de 18 ans, et il aimait a raconter les emouvantes aventures auxquelles il avait ete mele dans cette campagne. Pendant 18 ans il recut une pension du gouvernement d"Ottawa. M. Marin Girouard etait un homme tres sociable, parlant beaucoup du "bon vieux temps." La gangrene qui s'etait mise dans ses jambes, il y a quelques semaines a ete la cause de sa mort.

Le venerable centenaire dont nous pleurons la perte avait conserve toute sa lucidite d'esprit. Causeur enjoue, sa conversation etait un veritable jeu d'esprit que tout le monde recherchait avec avidite.

Best source for any Girouard family history is Bill Gerrior. He has written 5 books on the family history and lives in Nova Scotia. His web site for the books is Acadianawakenings. He has done extensive work. My line also goes back to Francois and Jeanne.

Best source of Girouard family history is Bill Gerrior who lives in Nova Scotia. He has written 5 books on the family, his web side is Acadianawakenings.com for the books. I met him when I was in Nova Scotia, being a Girouard descendent myself. Though his name is spelled different it is still the same line and his work is extensive.

Trying to locate Valerie GIROUARD married I believe in
Milwaukee on either Oct 12 1922 or Dec 10 1922 depending on how one notes dates. IE: d/m/yr or m/d/yr. Her husbands name was Egbert (Eggbert) he apparently had made a name change from this birth name of van den HEUVEL. Maybe he might have taken his wifes name? He had a sister Pauline who lived in Milwaukee. Thoughts suggestions are all welcomed.

In response to your query on Genevieve Girouard and Raphael Arsenault, Genevieve is my half-great-grandaunt. Her parents are Fabien Girouard and his first wife Marcelline Allain. Fabien was born on October 6, 1818 and he died on September 26, 1900. Marcelline was born on March 8, 1820 and she died on January 14, 1857. Fabien and Marcelline married on October 26, 1840. I hope this information helps. I just happen to be looking for information on Genevieve's descendants. Can you please provide me with as much info as you have for I am currently working on transforming our family tree into a website. With her descendant report, please highlight your direct line. I have found that parents of Julie Girouard was Joseph Girouard and Josephte Deslauriers Normandeau and they got married 2 fev 1790 in Gentilly de Nicolet. Her grandparents was Michel Girouard and Marguerite Haché Gallant(m: in Beaubassin, Acadie). Michel Girouard parents was Germain Girouard and Marie Doucet(m: port-Royal, Acadie). Germain parents was Jacob Jacques Girouard and Marguerite Gauterot. And the first French ancestor was François Girouard who was married to Jeanne Anne Aucoin from Anjou, France.

My grandfather, Philias Girourd, was married to Grace Brauner. My grandfathers ancestry came from france. The family Moved to Montreal and farmed there until the English captured them and sold them as Slaves in Louisiana. Relatives escaped and got as far as Rhode Island were my grandfather wasd born. He grew up very poor. He became Chief Officer at thr Bureau of Ordinance, Navy Dept. in Wa. D.C. There he was decorated by Harry S. Truman And Eisenhower. He recieved the highest medal of honor that a civilian can recieve. He adopted my mother who was his brothers daughter. philias Girourd had another brother,Paul, who was Bishop of Madegascar.

The marriage for Nepthali is recorded in Palmer but took place in Belchertown. October 18, 1887 in Belchertown, NEPTHALI GIROUARD, residence: Palmer, age 26, occupation:operative, born: Palmer, Parents: Jeremie Esther, his second marriage. to WINNIE LANGELIER, residence: Palmer, age 18, occupation:operative, born: Canada, parents: Isacc Theresa, her first marriage. Thanks. I'm going to check this out and see if it is the same family. The information I have on John (Jean)B. Girouard is from his death certificate and the 1900 census. Jean B. was born Sept.1854 in Canada, married Cordelia Renaud, date and location unknown, died Dec., 1902 in Warren, MA. The census shows his occupation is loom fixer. He had three children; Stanislaus born 1874 in Canada, Aurore born 1887 in Warren, MA and the third child I haven't found yet. His death certificate shows his parents as Francois Girouard and Analette Guertin, both born in Canada. I would appreciate any information you have on Francois Girouard and Anaclette Guertin.

92, peacefully passed into the Lord’s arms on Sunday, December 30th, 2007. Born in New Bedford, MA, she was the daughter of the late Maxime and Elizabeth (Boudreau) Girouard. She was the beloved wife of the late Theodore L. Marchand and lived most of her life in Pawtucket until retiring in Matunuck, RI. Irene was employed for many years as a proof reader for the Pawtucket Times newspaper. She was an avid reader, card player and athlete with a great appreciation for music and dancing. She was the caring and devoted mother of Marilyn Stebenne and her husband Russell of Cumberland, Carolyn DelFino and her husband Ronald of Cranston and Sr. Elaine Marchand, RSM of Pawtucket. She was greatly cherished and admired by her grandchildren Russell Stebenne II, David Stebenne, Gina Tocco and Jonathan DelFino. Her four great grandsons affectionately called her “Memee”. Irene was very happy to have enjoyed a very special circle of friends and caretakers at Victoria Court Assisted Living where she spent her last years. She will be sadly missed by all. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME 1278 Park Avenue Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church, Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston at 10:00am.
