Hi. My name is Jesica Darr (York) I believe E. Lahoma Girty may be my great grandmother. It is a long story and I unfortunately don't have alot of information to work with except a few names and a few pieces of knowledge. My grandfather Bill was born on a Cherokee Reservation in Tahlequah, OK. I'm from Arkansas. His mother's name was Lahoma Girty. From what I know she was half white half Cherokee. Her father was Cherokee and mother was White. I wonder if you could help me identify if I may actually be related or not ???

Prideaux - Son Thomas - GSon Peter

I'm looking to confirm the lineage between these guys in the Girty line (of Simon Girty fame).

I can't find records in Ontario of Prideax (son of Simon Girty & Catherine Malotte) being born, although I believe there are 'accounts'. Then there was a Thomas who was a son of Prideaux's (spouse/mother unknown).

Ideally, I'm looking for corroboration of the son Thomas' relationship to Prideaux (and so Simon). Furthermore, to connect Thomas as the father to Peter-b.1854 (later married to Annie Cook) from Ontario Canada.

All men apparently resided in Ontario Canada, but I am having touble finding documentation here, so I thought maybe there was something in the states... I can live in hope! ;-)

Anyway, if these connections can be confirmed, then I will have established my relationship to Simon Girty as his great(x5)grand-daughter.

hi, debi,
I am mainly interested in finding out how I am related to Simon Girty. It is hard to find literature about him in my library's genealogy room in Ohio. So, are you related to him in any particular way, aside from you sister-in-law?

Sincerely,
Andrea

Mr. Sellars,

Russell Girty here. My interest in my family tree has been sparked of late so I started browsing the internet for info and come across this correspondence. I had read info on Simon Girty and was kinda hoping to not have come from that line as I had always been told growing up that I had true Indian heritage. I grew up in Spiro, Ok and frequently visited relatives in Webbers Falls and yearly went to the Girty cemetary there for Memorial Day. Have you any further info since this email? Any would be greatly appreciated.

Russell Girty

Have an Aunt Truelove who was a Girty. Her mom's name was Susan. Don't see a Henry in the records, but the Trulove attracted my attention. It might only be a coincidence. Never knew how Aunt Trulove got her name. Any information you can offer would be interesting. Thanks

Re: GIRTY of Dublin/Charleston

Dear Mr. Nichols,

I'm the one who has the table. The table was made by a Girty in Charleston, SC, in 1853. I have since found out that the Girty family was well known in Charleston at the time and all of their tables were custom built. My suggestion is that you find a good antique dealer in Charleston. He may be able to provide some information for you.

Good luck!

Robert Sharpe
Chapel Hill, NC
