I am searching for ancestors and descendants of William Franklin Given born 28 April 1868 to Thomas and Elvira Given. William Franklin was born in Charleston, Kanawha County, West Virginia. His family was previously in Pennsylvania. William Franklin Given migrated to Iowa through Streeter, Illinois. He was a union organizer for John L. Lewis in the coal mines. His son, Lloyd Jasper (my grandfather) died in 1929 of black lung.
In William's obituary it lists sisters: Florence Slice of Bowdon, North Dakota; Martha Murphy of Paron Arkansas, and brother Jasper of Bowdon, North Dakota.
William Franklin died in Ottumwa, Iowa in 1939-Wife, Cora (Crandall); daughters, Evelyn Gipson; Leora Weirbach.
Sons: Thomas H of Ottumwa and adopted son Floyd W.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. I am especially interested in the whereabouts of Thomas and Elvira final resting place.
Thanks very much. Pamela
