An ancestral grandfather of mine was Rev. Hugh GLAS, minister of the parish church in Kettle, Fife. His Scottish "Fasti" clergy record indicates he was also a schoolmaster in Markinch, Fife. I have been unable to locate his birth record, however, he is buried in the Kettle churchyard, and based on the Fasti record and the MI, he was born in 1701. I descend through Rev. Hugh GLAS and his second wife, Jean BALFOUR, daughter of Sir Michael BALFOUR of Denmil, Fife. Margaret GLAS, b. in Kettle in 1750, daughter of Hugh & Jean is my 3x-grandmother. Margaret married Robert STARK, writer in Cupar. The couple lived in Cupar where their children were all born.

The first wife of Rev. Glas was Elizabeth Arnot daughter of William Arnot of Dalginch.

I would love to hear from anyone connected to this family, or with anyone having information that may be useful

Thanks much!

Betty in North Carolina
