I am looking for research sources to prove that James is the son of John. I have a copy of James Glen(n) and Martha Craig Boyd Glen(n)'s family bible that says James was born 22 Jul 1759 in Berkeley County, Virginia, but does not list information about his parents. James's pension application states that he served in the Revolution from North Carolina and that his early service was when he served as a substitute for his father. He also states that he knew where he was born from his father's family record book. Unfortunately, he does not name his father here either. James would move to York Co., SC where he died in 1843.

John Glen(n) was born in 1728 in Londonderry, Ireland, emigrated to Pennsylvania about 1755, moved to Virginia, and was in Lincoln Co (then Tyron Co), NC by 1775. John was married 3 times (1) Jane Elizabeth Spratt (James's mother), (2) Mary Polly Grissom, and (3) Jane McLean. His died 24 Sep 1828 in Gaston and his will appears to only name the children from his 3rd union.

Any suggestions on where to look for proof would be greatly appreciated.
