I just ran across your old message from 2000. I hope this reaches you. While you were (still are?) looking for descendents of George Michie Glennie, I am trying to figure out the puzzle of the Glennies and Michies in Montana.
My grandfather's aunt, Mary Michie, immigrated to Harlowton in 1908 to be with her son, George M Glennie, after the death of her husband, James Glennie, in Scotland.
I have everything on her but the 1910 census as she is not in the household of her son, George M Glennie who is single and appears with brother(??) George and hired man John Glennie in the Meagher County census. Thereafter Mary (nee Michie) Glennie appears in the 1920 & 1930 Meagher Co MT census as a wife's widowed grandmother in the household of John and Mary Duncan.
Said son, George M Glennie was born 5 Jun 1870 in Insch, Aberdeenshire, Scotland and died according to the Montana death index 12 May 1917. I have not found a marriage for him.
Could this George M Glennie be, perhaps, the father of your George Michie Glennie, b. 23 Jan 1918, as it is well within the realm of possibility that he was "on the way" when his father died?
Mary Michie Glennie had a brother, Adam Michie, who immigrated to Ft. Collins, CO, in about 1886. His descendents still live in the area. Mary and Adam were aunt and uncle to my grandfather, William Michie, who immigrated in 1887 - first to Ft. Collins and then on to California.
Kind regards, Barry Michie
