I am just starting to look into some Glidewell family. I know there was a Henry Glidewell who married a Laura Sullivan in Alabama. I know that they had a daughter Nora born 1896. It is possible that Henry had a son born about this time who could be your relative.

I show Robert Nash was b. 23 Oct 1722 in Virginia and d. abt 1806 in Hamilton Co, Ohio. Sorry, but I have nothing further on him.

I am trying to find the father of Byrd Glidewell, who was in Lincoln Co., TN in 1820 and 1830. He came from VA and was born 1760-1770. I believe he is the son of either Robert, the brother of Nash or Robert, the son of Nash. He is too old to have been the son of John, the younger son of Nash. I have not yet found him before he was in Lincoln Co. He was the father of William, Letha and Stephen. The children's Grandfather was apparently Jonathan Glass, as he made a gift of land to them.

Marge Glidewell

About the Pocohantas info: I believe that story started with my Uncle, James Arthur Glidewell, who did a lot of work on the Glidewells and as I recall the connection was suppose to have been through the Robertson line. I has been years since I checked it but I got, I think it was a microfilm at the LDS Library on Pocohantas. She was connected to another more prominant Robertson family. I concluded that it was not true. You might check at the LDS Library.

I imagine others told the story, as well. I believe William Mark was the son of Robert, the son of Nash, but have no proof.

Are you related to either side or both? Have a great day.

Lisa

Rosetta Amelia Emery Glidewell

I am trying to find the death of Rosetta but have not had any luck. Her husband Arthur Edmund Glidewell died on March 10, 1940 in Walthamstow, Essex. I belive that Rosetta may have died a short time after that. I have checked the civil registration indexs from 1929 to 1949 but have had no luck. The only thing I can think of is that the have spelled her name wrong or some how didn't get in the indexs. I know that on Arthur's death record it shows the informant as his daughter Jessie Rhonda Stone. I would appreciate any help with this. I live in the U.S. and am therefore not able to visit personally.

I have recently obtained a photo of a family reunion of the family of Henry Stephen Glidewell that was probably in the mid to late 1930's at Lincoln, Talladega County, Alabama or nearby Pell City, St Clair County, Alabama. The second wife of Henry Glidewell was Martha Jane Shell Crow Glidewell and she is on this group photo with him and many of his family, whose names I do not know. I would like to know the names of his family pictured.

Thanks,

Daniel Champion

I have a Collins family Bible that shows ? Glidewell is the mother of Jeremiah Collins b 1779 in Laurens District SC. It does not show his father's name. I have another cousin that has a family Bible showing Jeremiah's mother's name is Elizabeth ?. Is it possible that Robert or William had a sister that married a Collins in Laurens District SC or perhaps before they made the move from VA to SC? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Her father was born in Oklahoma and her mother was born in Illinois.
Children:
Violet b: abt 1908 in AR
Henry b: abt 1911 in AR
Arthur b: abt 1913 in AR
Opal b: abt 1916 in AR
James b: abt 1918 in AR
Dollie b: 1920 in AR (this is my grandmother)

I got the above information from the 1920 census.
