Below is the basic reason why Crawford Fullarton GLOVER migrated to PA.

"I have found the birth of a second son to Jane Glover (née Hunter ) registered as follows:-
“Hunter alias Glover, Alexander Murdoch.

Born August 4, 1855, 7 am, at Halfway Street [Dundonald] To Jane Glover, maiden surname Hunter, wife of Captain Crawford Fullarton Glover who the informant states was about twenty months absent in India immediately before the birth of the child.

Her 2nd child,

Mother 28 years born Troon"
Signed Jane Glover, Mother on 24 August 1855 at Irvine. 45"

This is taken from the registration of the birth, available on ScotlandsPeople.

This is the same GLOVER family that you refer to..

I have a fuller story on the GLOVERS in the US extracted from the family history I am writing, this is almost 4 pages and would perhaps be better sent to an email address. Please let me know if you are interested. p.strauss@iinet.net.au

I am descended from Crawford Fullarton GLOVER'S brother William Roxburgh GLOVER who came to the gold rush in Australia and then went to the gold rushes on the South Island of New Zealand.
