I am not sure this is quite right. But as you say it is confusing.
So my grandfather was William Lawton Glover, and maybe the same one who is on the 1911 census at just the address my mother said she sometimes visited as a child and doing just what she said he did.
My grandmother was called Annie, and, it may appear, was not the first wife of William Lawton.
In 1911, William Lawton Glover (57) is living with wife Mary Ann, length of marriage 34 years, number of children born 9; number living 6, and one called Ellis is with them (aged 26) who I cannot find on any of the other lists. Also Harold, Beatrice and Francis. I think this Harold may have died at Ypres.
In 1911 at a different address Mynors Street? is living a younger William Lawton, (flautist, enmployed) with wife Mary Ann (not helpful this repetition of names) and children Phyllis, William and Harold, all relatively young.
There is information on some web site about this family owing a cinema, but though they may have been linked to one, I think this is possibly a bit far fetched. The census entries make it unlikely.
Anyway, they all seemed to me musical, and so am I (a bit) so it's an ill wind that blows nobody any good.
Nice to find relatives on line, if strange!
