Not sure exactly how it works, but a male GLOVER desendant did a DNA test.
His markers/numbers etc, match to that of my brother, a male MILLS, on the 12, 25 Y 37 Test.
Coincidentally, GLOVER - BUCKLEY -ASHLEY - MILLS all match to each other.
Means we share a MRCA, Most Recent Common Ancestor.
Am curious if it is a MILLS that we share, or another different ancestor surname??
Jessie/Jesse J or James GLOVER - Mary MIXON, their ancestors, going up line, ends on a branch of ELizabeth MILLS who married Theopolis or Robert WHALEY. Elizabeth B: 1645 listed by some as dau of John MILLS of VA.

Know that aJohn MILLS - Mary SEELEY/SEELY descendant married a PADGETT. They were in and around Salem, now Cumberland Co NJ USA.

Maybe will help to sort out your search.

If you are researching the Weathers or Laurence families that married into this family and have more info, would really like to hear from you. Regards Sue

About 40 years ago I found a picture in an old wardrobe closet freestanding. it was in FL. (we lived in the house). there was a secret compartment underneath the bottom --inside it. there I found an old picture of a man looked to be civil war era (not in uniform but his clothes were this period). on the back it read send picture to Wilson NC. it also had another name on it Miss Lennie Godwin , Mr. John Godwin. there were other names on the picture ( lots of scribbling couldn't make it out) --Just wanted to see if he belonged to anyone --I adopted him all these years, not wanting to throw it out, & not knowing what to do with it --he seemed like such a nice man . It may help someone now if they search for him.

I'm working with several other Glover researchers. We have two perfect DNA matches and a close match. The two exact DNA matches are from folks who probably are from the line of William Glover/Mary Norwood of Virginia/Granville District, NC/ and SC. However there is another DNA project participant who claims lineage from that same line.
Their DNA doesn't match the first two. What we need is more DNA samples from men who claim to descend from the William Glover/Mary Norwood line. Come on folks, rally up! We can solve some mysteries here with your participation.

Where are are you Marengo Co., AL folks? We need you.

See familytreedna.com for the Glover project.

Thank you very much for sharing that photo. I have had such a time locating my Glover line before 1860 in AL. I will check out the Newton CT records. I have a great-great uncle Newton L. Glover. With no other Newton in the family that I can find anywhere. Maybe some memory remained of the the town-- though I know that is a stretch.

Do you have any Williamson Glover's in your lines?

Thanks,
Dianna

Patricia,

Thanks for your quick response. Upon further reflection, I think my great grandfather may be a different William H. Glover. From Census records he was born in 1847 and not 1840 though he was born in Newtown, CT. Since it is just a scanned image, I would be glad to have it as this William is most likely a relative whom I have just not discovered yet. Newtown in the mid-1800s seems chock-full of Glovers. How did you come by the photo and do you have any relationship to it?

My email is lglover@charter.net.

Thank you again for your reply.

Sincerely,

Lori

The family has no photographs of him, so I do not know him by sight. My research would indicate that based on only the name and place that he is the same person. You can see my research in my family tree titled Glover-MacGregor Family Tree here on Ancestry.
Relatives of African American Randall Glover and Wife Susan Jenkins Glover

I am interested in any information regarding the children of Randall b1825 and Susan Glover b.1840. They had 15 children total. Dock Glover, their oldest son, was my great grandfather. I believe my mother told me that he was an Indian. I can find no records of his death, although I am sure it was before 1900.There was also a son, Zebedee who was an invalid and died around 1925. Susan was still living at that time. My guess from additional documents is that she died around 1930. With the exception of an early move to Florida, where Dock was born, Randall and Susan stayed in the Anderson, Greenviile areas of South Carolina. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I have hit a brick wall. Please feel free to email me at hafertoo@yahoo.com.
POW/MIA Korean War

I am searching for the families of two soldiers with the surname GLOVER that were lost in the Korean War. At this time the government has no family contact. At the time they were lost their remains were not recovered. Family DNA is needed to identify remains if and when they are recovered. At the time they entered service they gave their Home of Record as posted below

Soldier: THOMAS GLOVER, JR
Born: 1932
Date of loss: July 31, 1951 MIA
Home of Record: Montgomery County, AL

Soldier: CARNESE GLOVER
Born: 1932
Date of loss: November 27, 1950 MIA
Home of Record: Hampton Copunty, SC

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. Our government has no family contact for the men listed.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (79 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find these families. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating these families.

Harold Davis
517 Mohican Trail
Wilmington, NC 28409

40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
Hello Pamela,

My gg-grandfather was Wiley Washington Glover b 1855 in NC, married Dora Bird, d 1945 in Faulkner Co, buried Copperas Springs cemetery Faulkner County. He appears in 1860 Census GA Whitfield, Dalton as "D.D." under W.W. Glover (42) b 1818, Agnes (30) b 1830. It seems unlikely WW & Agness would name 2 sons Wiley Washington, so possibly WW 1865 is a grandson, left behind w Agness when sons John J, Henry P and WW 1855 came to Ark with uncles & cousins from GA in 1870s. I also saw Agness & WW 1865 in the 1880 census, although histories say that she died in ARK. Agness' sister was Eveline Bagley Glover 1825 married to Augustus Glover 1823 (bro of WW 1822) who also came to ARK in 1870s (1880 Census Faulkner Co ARK).

Glover in UTAH

I have traced a family (James and Mary Glover, both born circa 1823) from Kingsbury Episcopi in Somerset (England) to various places around Salt Lake City. I'd like to make contact with anyone else researching this family (even better a descendant), I have identified some 70 family members, mostly from Census data. Sadly, there seem to be few birth or marriage records on the internet for Utah, so I only have the bare outline of the family.

You and I have the same basic information.

I was wondering where to find additional information about Wiley and his imprisonment as well as how Agnes could die in the 1870's and still be listed on the 1880 census.

I feel the "DD" listed on the census refers to Dwight Samuel "Doc" Glover who was born in 1857 and would have been 3 in the 1860 census. The Dwight Samuel "Doc" Glover is my line.

Hopefully we will soon be able to find our answers.

Laurie

Re: FRANKLIN GLOVER DESCENDANTS

We already have the full and complete facts on Franklin Glover, and his going aboard the CSS SHENANDOAH, which details would cover a couple of pages, at least. What we have shown online, and what is available elsewhere is not the full story on Glover. Our work on just about all these veterans covers a massive amount of files, to ensure that these veterans' details are known to the full extreme, before we ever take any final steps.
We definitely know, as of this date, of two persons who are being touted as Civil War veterans buried in Australia, but who never served in the Civil War. We will wait until VA grave markers have been applied for, and installed, before revealing the full details to show that they were definitely NOT Civil War veterans, and to show the incompetent "research" conducted on these, and other persons.

Curious to know what part of Arkansas your GLOVERs resided. I had a Caroline Glover who died at a very early age, six or seven yrs. The family was in and around Logan County. The SPRINGER surname pops up with this line also. RGreg2080@aol.com
