Hi There,
I didn't find anything but do know that Edward was no good. He was married to my dad's grandmother Emma Jacobs, would go off and leave her with her two kids, come back and eat all the food. She ended up divorcing him. I am sure Myrtle figured that out too. I always came to the conclusion that he was a bigamist as the documents I found on him didn't seem right. I believe there was another female child maybe Alice (then again that is his mother's name). There were two though. I am not on ancestry much as I lost my job and decided to get rid of the extras.

Illinois has a state website where you can search marriage certificates. I don't know about divorce certificates though. let me know what else you need my email is susanfabian331atyahoo (sometimes they don't like email addresses).

Susan,
Have you found the paperwork for Edward and Myrtle (Rice) Goben's marriage and family?? I know you were busy but hope that if you do locate anything, you will let me know what you find. You said that you thought there may have been two children from that union. I only have one, Fred. Also If you find how the marriage ended, I would appreciate that too. I can not find anything about her other than her marriage.

Yes, Myrtle Rice was one of his wifes. I don't know that I have anything on her though. I have more on Jesse Tomkins? She is on his death certificate. I might have something though. I am in the process of cleaning out my garage so I will look for my papers on him and let you know.

Susan, I am sure the Edward Goben married to my grandfather's sister, Myrtle Rice, in Mason County is the same one in your family and would like to connect with you about this. It was Edward's second marriage and Myrtle's first marriage. Darlene

Susan,
Sorry I took so long but changed my e-mail address.
My grandfather was Joesph Rice and his sister Myrtle Rice was married to Edward Goben. It was his 2nd marriage, I believe and her first. Right now I do not have the dates and info but have wondered about whatever happened to her as he remarried a couple years later. They had a son, Fred, who listed Ed's next wife as his mother. In Fred's obit however Myrtle is listed as his mother. Does any of this sound familar to you??? Darlene

Duggan family, Kentucky, Tennessee

I am looking for information on the Duggan family in Bowling Green, KY (Warren County) and Nashville, TN (Davidson County); in particular, I am searching for more information on James P. Duggan (b. approx Oct 1844 in Ireland, married to Mary Ann McAndrew. Besides having information on his children, I have only found that James' father was J.F. Duggan, born approx 1805 in Ireland. As of 1880, the family (including JF) resided in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and within 10 years had moved to Nashville, TN. One of his later descendants (Barbara Duggan) married a Goben in Tennessee.

Any information regarding this line would be greatly appreciated.

Edward Goben

My Great-Grandfather Edward Goben was born in Iowa in 1867 to Joseph and Alice. He married Emma Jacobs in Rock Island County in 1886. Their two children were Elmer and Frank Goben (my grandfather).

I find Joseph was the son of William Goben and Elizabeth Knox. William Goben is the son of Hugh Goben b 1765. Can anyone verify this? Does any one have information on who Hugh Goben's, b 1765 Jamestown VA, parents were?

Thanks for any info.

I seen the genealogy chart that you left at the Little Canada Historical Society. We are related. My great grandmother is Bessie Goben who is a sister to your Joseph. I know that their parents are Louis Goben & Sara Lafortune, married at St. John's in Little Canada, MN. Louis' father is Joseph Goben (mother listed as Chippewa wife) and Sara's parents are Narcisse Lafortune and Eleonore Godin/Gobin (hard to read the writing.
Michele

I am researching the Goben's from Mason County, Illinois. William H. Goben was born there in 1851. He married Nancy Ellen Kirk. They had seven children: Charles, Elmer, Addie, Lawrence, Allie, Pearl and Louis. You mention Indians from a reservation working in Rock Island, Illinois. We believe our Goben family was of Indian descent but have been unable to make any connection to a specific tribe. Would you have any additional information this subject? Would appreciate any help I could receive to get over this brick wall..
