anyone heard of orville gobert, he had one brother and one sister, they were from louisiana, around eunice maybe basil. his sister was suppose to be married to henry mosbuger or mosbroker? not sure of the spelling, but they lived in basil, la. I know they had a son, henry , two daughers, one name violet and don't remember the other one. would appreciate any info I can find, most of my relatives that i do know cant find anything on him.

Thank you so much, Hilery. Through your tree I was able to see that I have some of my info wrong. His name is Pierre Achille Gobert (b 20 Dec 1845, d 8 Aug 1934) and his wife is named Ersula Jardoin (b 2 Oct 1887, d 02 Oct 1950). If anyone have any additional information on these two, please let me know.

my name is aaron j gobert from marquette,mi usa...i have always heard from my father that there are belgium ties to our family.i have never heard of the first name Renee in my family...but if it helps my grandfather was Harold Gobert and was married to a Martha DePuyt or something close.i can easily get you whatever family history my father has. Gobert-Joseph G. Gobert aged 77, of 921 Hovey SW passed away Monday eving at Grand Rapids Osteopatic Hospital. He is survived by his wife Jennie M. Two stepdaughters Mrs Herman Clyde creager of Ionia, Mis Herman Bos at Spring Lake. One granddaughter Mrs Harold McSoreley of Sedaur Shrings, 4 great-grandchildren,two half sisters Mrs Stella Sweetland,Mrs C.L. DeYoung of Grand Rapids.
Mr Gobert reposed at the Van Strien-Alman Mortuary, 1833 Plainfied Ave. NE where the service will be held at 1:30 pm Friday afternoon.
this is dated Nov 20,1962 in the Grand Rapids Press. in Grand Rapids,Michigan

As the story goes Gabert came over from Poland as I was told. Later I found John Gabert death record and found out he came from Germany. Actually him and his family came over from Prussia.
There was this big fight with the five brothers and they change a letter in there name and one of the brother kept the Gabert. Two brothers Anthony and Joseph change it to Gobert. That how my side of the family became Goberts. Anthony is my great grand pa.
I am still looking for Stanley who move to St. Louis,Mo. and Walter.

I am the daughter of Ernest Guillory and Marie (changed to Mary by the nuns in Lake Charles when my mother went to school) Camile Gobert Guillory. I am the grandaughter of Falone and Edolia Donatto Gobert fomerly of Acadia or St. Landry Parish, LA. I believe my grandfather had a brother named Jack Gobert. My parents were Ernest Guillory and Marie Camile (Mary-translated from Marie by the nuns) Gobert of Lake Charles, LA. I do not know very much about my grandfather's family. You are an angel. I did find out Renee Gobert's daughter my great grandma is Louise Montagne from Brussels. She married Charels Smith from North Dakota. If that helps any. The majority of my family that I know about all live in Vancouver Washington.

I have Gobert relatives in Brugge, Belgium and I'm going to ask them if they know how to research the name Renee Gobert of Brussels.

I suspect that he is francophone, as there is a large number of Gobert's in northern France.

It may be quite a while before I get an answer.

I have never found anything. Since all my family members have past at an early age that is the only name I have to go off of. My family is from Quebec, Washington state and North Dakota and Brussels.

I have no information on Stanley Gobert. My Grandfather was Ernest Gobert, born in 1884. I have no info on his family at all. I believe that he was born in either Canada or Upper Michigan. He died when my Mom was young so we don't have much info on him.

Your observations are correct. But in my ancestor's marriage certificate of 1809, the name was spelled "Gobert" in the margin and "Gaubert" in the body. It also mentions that he was a native of Nantes in France. He was Guillaume Joseph Gaubert, who married Marie Adelaide Rassicot. I believe all of the Gauberts in Lafourche Parish are descended from them.

Aruillo GAUBERT and Mathilda JACOB batized a child on 26 Dec. 1909 Chat. church Vol. 2, Page 56. Child name Ruby GAUBERT.
I also have one Joseph Orville GAUBERT born 19 July 1885 to Aruilien GAUBERT and Celestine DERBONNE in Opelousas, LA.

The spelling of you great grandfather's name was Phileas and you will find records under the last name of Gaubert and Gobert. The old spelling for our name was Gaubert and the Gaubert of Louisiana are related to us.
If you wold be so kind as to sent me you family tree up to your grandfather I will be able to provide you with the complete tree up to Guillaume Gaubert born on August 27, 1742, in Esparsac, France.

I just started searching on the ancestry.com message boards this
morning at about 6:00 and saw all of these messages about the Gobert/Gaubert
family. I just found out about my ancestors last year from a document
that a relative provided. It goes all the way back to Guillaume
Gaubert from Exparsac France!

I saw from one of your postings (25 July 2000) that your great
grandfather was Phileas Gobert. Your grandfather is the brother of my
grandfather, Eugene Gobert b. 23 September 1900. He married Ethel May on 27
February, 1923 in Elton, Louisiana. They had 4 children: Reatha, Andrew,
Leroy (my father) and A. J. I'm verifying the spelling of A.J.'s name.
It's something from the Bible.

My family lives in California and I would love to know more about the
family in Louisiana.

My family name is Gubert and has resided in Louisiana/Mississipppi since the early 1800's, originating in France. The name was alternately spelled Guibert, but sometimes misspelled Gobert. They were Gubert's living in New Orleans, about 1850, with the names of Alexander and Antoine. Could you supply more information. Sue

My uncle was Walter Donald Gobert, but he was born in 1919 according to a brief family history that I have. He died 4/28/1987. His parents were Ernest & Laura. I have some family pictures and the Gobert-Lucier Family History although it doesn't go back any farther than 1860. Let me know if there's anything you need.
