I have been doing quite a bit of searching on the Gobles from Ky, that is how my hubby is related, I have gotten quite a bit of info, but i am just hoping for a bit more.

I do not know anymore than this parents. My father is Bruce Gobie and my granmother is Ruth Stockwell.

I heard Victor was the rogue and scoundrel(sp)? Does this sound familiar?>>>>

Eugene Gobie was my great-grandfather's uncle, and Victor was his first cousin.

Hello! Victor Gobie and Jerry Gobie Sr. were first cousins to my great-grandfather, Neil Gobie. My father's name is also Jerry Gobie.

Hi I was browsing through geneology sites and saw your message. My grandfather was jerry a gobie born and raised in woodstock vermont area. My father's name is also jerry gobie jr also born and raised in vermont. My great grandfather's name was henry but he had all boys. What was your mother's first name? we are probably related,since most Gobie's are. >>>

Hi all! My dad is Jerry Gobie, from the Gobies of Brattleboro, Vermont (originally from Montreal, from France). My great-grandfather was Philip Henry Gobie of the P.H. Gobie Press in Vermont. My dad's father, Neil Gobie (and his brothers Henry and Philip), grew up in Miami Beach, Florida, where I was born. Anybody out there???

My Name is Bill Clark

My Great Grandfather was Maxie Gobie, Son of Eugene and Lillian Gobie. My grandmother Maxine was an only child and Max (Maxie)'s wife was Elizabeth. My mother (Diane) was Maxine's 2nd daughter and I am her first son.

He was born in SEP 1891and died inJuly of 1971. I know that his ties go back to Woodstock, VT (though he was born in NH and lived his adult life in NJ) and lineage to French Canada. I am told that my great grandfather was much the playboy. His SSN is 158-18-3908

Although I am 44 I have fond memories of my great grandfather.

Could we possibly have any data to share?

g.grandfather thomas was born in scotland .his parents came from norway father was sea captain so was thomas.he wed +settled in liverpool.had trouble tracing back as i think spelling's changed i think? would love any info'.they where definately norse

My great grandfather Thomas Gobie was born in Norway.He settled and married in Aberdeen. He was a sea captain,as was his father.His son Thomas moved to Liverpool.Found several Gobies in Toxteth area,between 1860-1909.Spelling was changed some point.

My mother's maiden name was Gobie
. She was born in Liverpool in 1896. Her father was Henry and grandfather James. I believe they originated from Holland and as it is an unusual name wonder if there could be a connection to your family.

Hi Sherry.
These are the details I have of Gobie family.
Grandfather Henry born 1867. His father was James Gobie born circa 1840. They were both born in Liverpool and my mother's name was Lily. Her father Henry had brothers John, Herbert, James, Thomas. My great grandfather James was supposed to have come to England from Holland but can't track back.
Would love to find a connection somehow as I guess James had siblings that might have emigrated elsewhere.Thanks for your interest and hope you have luck in your search.

Re your name Goby - it probably was of same origin as Gobie.
However, I have traced all my family back to 1850 and they all lived in the Liverpool area. Going further back than that I do not know. I am only aware that somewhere the family had come to England from Holland - Gobie being a Dutch name.

As you can see my name is prononced the same way and I suspect the origin is the same. My mother was Alberta Gobby born in June 1919 in Northampton. Her father was Albert Gobby and he died, I believe in the sameyear. Her mother was Lucretia Rose.

If you get any data on my family tree can you let me know please.

Could you send me the information you have? Is/was your father and and grandfather Jerry's or Gerald's? Plus DOB and such.

Yes Victor was a bit of a scoundrel. He really loved women. But his charm outweighed any scoundrelous ways. Whenever he came to woodstock to visit my grandfather I always couldn't wait to see uncle Victor. He always had such interesting stories and made me laugh. I have heard that Eugene his father,was not a very nice person. My father doesn't even want to get into the Gobie family history because of him. Do you know anything about him? I think he died at my grandparents house of harding of the arteries, he used to curse and scream at my grandmother when she was taking care of him.
I know Victor had other brothers other than my grandfather Jerry do you happen to know their names?

My father is Bruce Russell Gobie, his father was Victor Gobie and Victor's wife was Ruth Stockwell. They were married in Vermont and and had 6 children: Bruce (Sp:Gladys Oehlert,June) Douglas (Sp: Marion), Jacqueline (Sp:Lyle Davenport), Lyle (sp: Dorsey), Elise (sp:Robert Taylor), Gordon, and Wayne.

If anyone else is researching this line, I would like to share information.
