Thanks to those who replied to this query. I'd like to CORRECT some erroneous information I discovered today.

JOHN MARSHALL ANDERSON's WIFE was NOT a GOBLE. I have confirmed - through additional research, that her maiden name was WACKERLE.

Sorry if I've inconvenienced anyone by causing unnecessary digging through genealogical data bases.

I wish I could help you. I looked at the 1920 census for Goble/Gobel residents in Kansas City, Missouri. I found one possibility:

Name: Gertrude Goble
Home in 1920: Kansas City Ward 13, Jackson, Missouri
Age: 24 years
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1896
Birthplace: Kansas
Relation to Head of House: Daughter
Father's Birth Place: Missouri
Mother's Birth Place: Illinois
Parent's Name: Lizzie
Marital Status: Single
Race: White
Sex: Female
Able to read: Yes
Able to Write: Yes
Image: 223
Household Members: Name Age
Lizzie Goble 62
Gertrude Goble 24

Let me know if you want further information on this woman.
Evelyn (GobleNews@comcast.net)

I am looking for my grandmother (you fill in the blank?) Gobel. I have very little information but maybe as you read you can help me.

She had a child at The Willows Maternity Sanitorium in Kansas City, Missouri, May 18, 1920, 6:05pm. She named the little girl (my mother) Shirley. The name was kept by the adoptive parents. Mom was never told she was adopted, it was a family "secret".

My mother was an only child and didn't know until later in life, that she was adopted. She always wanted to know who she really was but just didn't have the resources to search. I recently found out where she was born by searching the internet for the attending physician on her ammended birth certificate and that her birth mother's surname was Gobel (correct spelling). The Willows only took women of "means" and was referred to as the "Waldorf" or "Ritz" of unwed mothers homes.

If anyone has any information about a member of the family who had a child out of wedlock in 1920, please contact me. Thank you so very much for your time in reading this post.

Missing half of me...

Hello,
Glad you are enjoying the website. It's been a labor of love since 1996 when the internet was new.

I checked the census record in 1850. If that is your Catherine her parents were both born in Preußen. I've tried finding them in 1860 and 1870, but no luck. I'll keep looking and let you know if I find anything.

Evelyn

Thanks for the information, I will add it to others I'm considering and see if it fits with those I'm looking for. I have extensively searched the records available through the GOBLE family website (wonderful site, BTW) and have a few more potentially relevant leads, but nothing fits exactly as it should, either. I've also got a box full of photographs inherited from this family's descendants that I hope someday to be able to identify. Of course, having their family tree information as the basis for identification is about the only method I believe to be effective. Without it, I don't have much chance of knowing who they are, nor how they fit within the family.

Your nickname of GOBLENEWS indicates you're most likely associated with the aforementioned GOBLE website, and I had planned to contact y'all in the near future, if I couldn't find the information myself.

I searched every record available for the state of Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Virginia & Texas and found several Catharine, Catherine, Kate, Katy - Goble/Ghoble/Gobble, etc ... yet none married to John Marshall Anderson.

I realize there may be no record of their marriage at all, therefore my focus will probably shift to searching for evidence of their presence in Missouri proir to the Texas migration in 1881.

I did find one reference to Catherine Ghoble being from Illinois, yet the location of "Will" isnt that close to the Missouri border. Perhaps her family moved .... or his family moved... close enough to Missouri in order for John and Kate to have met and married.

I may have found her in this census, and the estimated birthdate is pretty close.

Name: Catherine Goble
Residence: Will, Illinois
Age: 6 years
Estimated birth year: 1844
Birthplace: Illinois
Gender: Female
Film number: 442921
Image number: 00400
Reference number: 34
Dwelling: 136
Household id: 136
Collection: United States Census, 1850
(Original copy on file)

John Marshall and Kate (Ghoble) Anderson are my Gx2 Grandparents.

I certainly appreciate your taking the time to search records and respond. When I do figure this out, I'll post the results here.

Thanks Again!
I have a Joseph Goble born Jul 17, 1786 in either KY or PA. He married Dotia Fransia Jul 19, 1836 in Morgan Co., Illinois. I have no record of their children. Dotia died and Joseph remarried in 1846 to Mary Ann Irvin.

This is the only Morgan Co., Illinois Goble connection I have found. Goble, residence 4040 Shoshone St, Denver, Denver County, Colorado, married (written over single), Occupation: RR Fireman, died 5 July 1918 from empasemia and pneumonia. Born 25 May 1897Fater Eugene Goble, Birthplace Kansas; Mother Susie Harr (may be Hoar?), Birthplace: Kansas, Information provided by Chas E. Scott (his step-father)

The Goble Family Association shows his father, John E Goble marrying Susie A Harr, 22 July 1895 in Phillips County, Kansas.

Hope this helps

You may be right in your supposition. It's quite certain that Susie A. is not the daughter of George and Sarah. She is listed as a boarder in the 1900 census. Tillman Hoar's Susan is a good possibility. The 1900 census says and both of Susie's parents were born in Illinois. I'll search further and post what I find. Thanks for the clues!

Concerning Susie A. Hoar/Harr.

She may be Susan Hoar, daughter of Tilman Hoar (the 1880 census says she was born Jan 1880). If so, then she would be niece to George Hoar of the 1900 census, which has her born Dec 1879....it's a pretty close match.

I would be interested to know if this should prove true.

In the 1880 census (Ash Rock, Rooks Co, Kansas) Tilman Hoar is family #7, and George Hoar is family #11.

For Susan Hoar, daughter of Tilman Hoar see: http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d...

Kind regards, Roz Edson

Hi Ken,
No, I really don't have anything specific on Abigail Applegate Hendrickson, so am unable to connect her to my Hendricksons. I think she was Abigail Applegate, had a child,Joanna in about 1852 with sirname Applegate and perhaps married a Hendrickson for a short period before marrying Ephraim in 1854. Below are some notes I have in the Ephraim's file.

*GOBLE, Ephraim (Relationship Unknown) - about 1833 - 24 July 1862 - Enlisted as a Private at age 29 in New York City, NY. Enlisted M Co. 2nd HA Reg. NY. Mustered Out at Philadelphia, PA on 13 May 1865(MO at Mower Gnl Hospl). His wife, Abigail Goble filed for widow's pension March 17, 1870. - (src1)New York: Report of the Adjutant-General, 1894-1906. (src2) Civil War Pension Index.

*Notes from the Goble File folder at the Monmouty County Historical Society lists line of desc ent:
"Runah Goble m. Phila Tallman, son James T. Goble m. Jane Chadwick, their son, Ephraim Goble m. Abigali Applegate Hendrickson. Ephraim is buried in Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold, NJ"

*Will of James T. Goble, #237 O (letter o not zero), signed 20 Sep 1863, LDS Family History Library film #561,767:
"I James T. Goble of the Township of Dover, County of Ocean and State of New Jersey...wife, Sarah Goble...six children by my first wife: Ephraim Goble, Anna J. (?) Smock, Harrison Goble , Anna Maria Haywood, Brookfield Goble, and Charles C. Goble...and to my five children by her [Sarah Goble, second wife], viz, Leon Goble, Theodore Goble, Henrietta Goble, Lewis Goble and Henry Goble." Witnesses: Wm I. James and David J. Brewer

I'll let you know if I discover anything new on this one.
Best wishes,
Evelyn

Hello,
I have your grandfather in our "Unconnected Goble Tree" and have a small amount of information on the Hendrickson family. Modesty Viola Hendrickson was born July 1881 in Indiana to Thomas D. and Edith Hendrickson. In the 1900: Van Buren, Madison, Indiana census Thomas D. and Edith Hendrickson were living next door to Modesty and James. I found Thomas and Edith in the 1860: Harrison, Preble, Ohio
census, but of course this was before Modesty was born. I also located Thomas D. Hendrickson in the 1850: Harrison, Preble, Ohio census. His parents were Zachariah and Emily Hendrickson, both born in Ohio. Hope this helps!

Happy New Year,
Evelyn Goble Steen
GobleNews@aol.com
I have Glenn D. Goble listed in our Thomas Goble Tree, son of John Eugene (10) Goble and Susie A. Harr/Hoar. Much of the information I have on this family came from Carl Glenn Hodge, Jr. who is a descendant of John Eugene (10) Goble. Contact me and I will put you in touch.

My records show that Lillian M. Halberg may have been married 4 times, excluding the relationship with Glenn D. Goble. At one time I had her listed as a sibling of Glenn, but that information listed as suspect. The database online is out of date and still contains that data.

I would be happy to send you a genealogy report of Glenn's ancestry.

Evelyn Goble Steen
goblenews@comcast.net

I don't know if this is the right family, but I have a Louisa Goble who married Isaac Teale and they had a son, Martin Goble Teale born 1795 in New Jersey who was a sugar plantation owner on St. Croix in the Virgin Islands in the early 1800's. We have a Peter Teale, Peter Thomas Teale, John Thomas Teale, William Anderson Teale and it says there was a Goble in St. Croix at the same time who might be Martin's mom or sister. Does any of this fit your family? We also have Tuckers and Comptons, LaCrusade, Woods, Krause, Anderson, Chittick, Benners.
Our email is: guinnandjody@gmail.com That's a G not a Q
