Regarding Mary Gochnaur, I'm not sure which Mary it may be, though I believe that it is either Mary Ann Brenizer (1823-1906), the wife of Andrew Gochnaur(1823-1908), or their daughter Mary Ellen Gochnaur (1870-1919). Another daughter,Catherine Alma Gochnaur (1859-1918) is also listed on the quilt as "Mrs. John Candy". She married John Andrew Candy (1850-1935), the son of Levi Candy (1813-1899) and Catherine Emerick (1819-1890).
I've not done a lot of research on the Gochnaur line since I'm not directly related (though I am to the Candy's and Emerick's). I have started a database/family "tree" of individual's listed on the quilt and ultimately plan to post it when it has some semblance of completion.
Hope this information is of some help to you. There are some 320 or so names on the quilt and nearly all of them list a residence which can be helpful considering that the 1890 US Census is largely unavailable.

Hi: Amarilla Doty was my gg grandmother and my line is through her marriage to William B. Van Sicklen; their son, William Doty Van Siclen. The IGI information that I have on her is b 1-19-1831 North Hector, Schuyler, NY. Another record shows b 5-19-1831. M. 1-1-1848 Hillsdale MI. William had married Mary Doty 1847. He also married Elizabeth Doty 11-12-1865 in Gratiot Co., MI. All three of his wives were sisters, daughters of Richard Huff Doty and Ester Barlow.

Rose Higgins has detailed information about the children, etc.

Amarilla Doty burial 4-28-1908, Oak Hill Cemetary, San Jose, CA. I was just filling out the request for CA Death record for her so your knowledge of her marriage to Gochnaur is very helpful. I will try to remember to send you the information after I receive it. (CA Vital Records estimates 4-6 MONTHS!!).
Her grandaughter, Rena McCain (my grandmother) was born in San Jose and she lived there until approx. 1913. I regret that I don't have any other information about Amarilla.

Let me know if you find out anything else, okay?

Thanks,

Sharlee H.
