Hi,
I am searching for Ambrose Godbaut/Godbout/Godebout/ Goodbeau's line. He was born in about 1820 in Canada. He married Louisa Lessor born in either 1827 or 1833 in Canada. I am unsure of who his parents were but I believe they were from Quebec. Does this sound familier? I would appreciate any information you may have.
Thanks
Jackie

My Great-grandfather, Cyrille Mathon, married one of the daughters of Joseph and Eleonore Godbout. There is a little confusion with daughter's name and date of birth. I have the names of Anna and Annia for the daughter and that Annia died in 1889 at the age of 24.
According to Drouin records she died in Endover (Andover) Maine, but was buried in Saint-Georges-de-Windsor. I would like to hear from anyone who has researched this family and might be able to help me verify birth information.

I came across your ancestry information while doing some research for my ancestry. My Great grandfather was named Bernard Alfers from Holland. He married Margaret Kirwan Brentano. Would your Harold Banard Alfers be of the same relation? He was from the Bendena KS area.

Vivian, Onesime April was my great uncle. I am not actively researching this branch of the family but I do have a cousin close by who may be able to help - he is the grandson of Onesime. The Godbout also shows up on my grandmother's side but I do not know anything about her except that she married Eloi Cote.
Gerard, one of Onesime's son also married a Godbout. I may be able to talk to her this week but you would have to reply back to me by tomorrow. I don't know if I can help you much but I find the lineage interesting. I am also related to some Lalondes.

Here is what I have are we some place in the Godbout tree?

Joseph Odlion Godbout died May 11th,1946 in Haverhill,Ma it listed a daughter Mrs. Beatrice Gelinas and three sons, George, Joseph(my grandfather)and Adelbert and a step son Allfred. Some place along the way his first wifeEmily Marie Rancour passed away and he married Annie no last name.According to the 1910 census he came to the USA in 1885 with Joseph R. Godbout who was six years old at the time, the step son Allfred came in 1887.

From the Haverhill Directory I havae this Romeo Godbout living in the same house with Joseph O. and also with a Edward,Emma and Florence and a Joseph with no ID just "Joseph" but different from my two Josephs.

Now, with all this where does Joseph Odilon fit in with Romeo?

I am so confused with all this new information and no connections!!! HELP!

Dorothy

Godbout - Marin from Bemidji

Laurence - Just came across your posting re Cora Godbout and Al Godbout from Bemidji, MN. My grandmother was Cora Godbout's younger sister, Nellie Marin Jordan. I cannot help you with the Godbout line but have a lot of information on the Marin family if you are interested. I would be interested in knowing more about Cora's family. I know that she died in the early 1900s and just recently discovered that she had children, one of whom was Samuel Godbout. Please contact me if you are interested in more information. I live in Washington State and was surprised to find out that members of your Godbout family lived in Washington.

Jim Jordan

Delighted to see so many GODBOUT researchers. My greatgrandmother is Elizabeth GODBOUT who married Joseph BEAUBIEN 4 March 1889 at St. Camille, Quebec, Canada. Elizabeth's parents are Jacques GODBOUT and Philomene GOSSELIN. They were married 12 June 1854. From other researchers, I have Jean Baptiste GODBOUT and Henriette BOURGOIN listed as the parents of Jacques GODBOUT. Also, the parents of Philomene GOSSELIN are believed to be Jochim GOSSELIN and Marie VAILLANCOURT. From a family history received many years ago, the parents of Joseph BEAUBIEN are said to be Onesime BEAUBIEN and Marguerite LUSSIER. I can be reached at swharrell@mindspring.com. Any help with verification of information would be appreciated.

Marguerite Godbout & Nicolas Lefebvre

I am struggling with contradictory information about the parents of Pierre Laurent Lefebvre, who married Marie-Ursule Émery-Coderre August 22nd 1757 in St-Ours.

One possibility is that he might have been the son of Nicolas Lefebvre and Marguerite Godbout, married August 29th 1725, Île d'Orléans. I know that there were many people by the name of Marguerite Godbout at that time in that area; this one was born in 1701, daughter of Joseph Godbout and Marguerite Manseau.

Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Thanks,

Gilbert Benoît
Ottawa, Ontario
