Please bear with me this is all personal stories rendered by a very elderly uncle. I want to try and connect while he is still alive. I don't know many of these people except Minnie Ellen Goddard Tudor. She was my great grandmother.
Minnie Goddard Tudor, daughter of Charles Keith Goddard and Martha "Mammy" Goddard, she was born in Roane County, Tenn around 25 Sept 1883. Just west of a little community called Eaton's Crossroads, just a little west of Lenoir City. Supposedly one of her kinsman was Irish named O'Keith, but changed his name to Keith shortly after arriving because of poor treatment. That is why she named her child Keith.
Minnie had a sister Dena Goddard Amos, married to a Archie Amos from Alabama. Dena died in Childersburg, Alabama in the 1970's or 80's. Dena supposedly had a son named Dwight Amos, who was a deputy sheriff in Birmingham in the early 1970s. She also has one named James Amos in Atlanta.
Another sister was Nelle Flournoy of Houston, Texas. She was dying of cancer about 1940 and she had a son named W. D. or D. W. Flournoy. Dub was in the construction business. I was also told that D. W. 's last name might be Huffines. No explanation why.
She also had a sister Hester M. Goddard Guthrie born May 2, 1897 and died Feb 4, 1964. She is buried in East Lawn Cemetery, Searcy County, Arkansas with many other Goddards. I was told this was her sister but she was born 14 years after Minnie.
Sarah or Marth Johnson "Mammy" Goddard was born January 15, 1857 in Anderson County Tennessee in Clinton Tenn, near Oak Ridge. She died in the home of her daughter Minnie Goddard Tudor on Nov 17, 1938 in Marshall Arkansas. She is buried at East Lawn Cemetery, Searcy County, Arkansas.
Mammy had a brother who maintained a home in Clinton Tenn and he got the contract for building the railroad from Knoxville to either Bristol, Virginia or Kentucky. Charles K. Goddard, her husband, was a brakeman on the railroad and lost his arm at the elbow when he fell off the car and the wheel rolled over his arm. Mammy's brother and Charles K. had been friends or knew each other and introduced Minnie.
I have some family pictures with Charles K. with his brothers: Grant, Russell, and Hugh. Supposedly there is a brother Dave Goddard who had a child named Lee.Lee Goddard had a grandson Terry Goddard, but everyone has lost contact with him. There is no David listed as their brother from other sources. Charles Keith's father was David, so I don't know if they are just confusing something there.
Charles K.Goddard was born July 28, 1860 and died Jan 31, 1934. This comes from his tombstone.
I surely hope there is a connection somewhere. Please contact me at TGross1092@aol.com
