Melissa Emma Quinn Goddard, Mrs +Wm Henry France 1908 OH

I am trying to find more info on Wm Henry's 3rd wife who I believe had been previously married to a Goddard. On her marr lic it refers to her as Mrs. So thinking Quinn was her maiden name and she might have been a widow of an Unk Goddard. They md 1908 and she was in her 60s so doubt any children were born. A W and Maria J (Coulter) Goddard
signed off on the marr lic also so just not sure if they were her inlaws or parents. A bit confusing. Wm Henry's parents also signed on the lic. I would like to find when she died as have not found later census on them.
Any information would be helpful.
Has anyone researched the family of Valentin Goettert ? He was married to Catharina Fey in 1781 in Frederick Co. I am looking for a Goddard who was married to a Patsy Lee (Riley) around 1959-1963, in Enid, Oklahoma. They had one daughter a Betty Lorene, Jan 30, 1960. They were divorced in 1963, and I am sorry for so little information but my grand mother, Patsy Lee, will not say anything about him, other than he died of cancer a sometime after.
Elizabeth GODDARD nee HUGGINS

Seeking information of the whereabouts of Elizabeth GODDARD nee HUGGINS after 1881:

Elizabeth HUGGINS was born ca. 1850 on the island of St Helena, which lies about 1,500 miles northwest of Cape Town, South Africa. At the time of her birth, Elizabeth's father, John, was a Colour Sergeant with the St Helena Regiment. John was born in 1816 at Caledon, County Tyrone, Ireland. Elizabeth's mother was Margaret nee BURKE, born in County Kerry.
After Elizabeth's father was pensioned out, but retained as a drill instructor, the family lived for several years (ca.1855-ca.1862) at Barnet, Hertfordshire, before moving to Winchester, Hampshire.
On 28 May 1873, Elizabeth was married to Walter Ernest GODDARD, a carpenter from Aldershot, Surrey, whose father was George, a builder by trade. Walter died sometime during the 2nd quarter of 1877, his death having been registered with the Hayfield (Cheshire/Derbyshire border) registration district.
By 1880, Elizabeth's father had died, and several members of the family --including the mother, Margaret-- emigrated to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Our last known address for Elizabeth comes from the 1881 Canada census: she was 31-years-old, working as a charwoman, and living in St John's Ward (a district within Toronto) with her mother, Margaret, then 58-years-old; both were listed as Roman Catholic.
I think that Elizabeth & her mother may have moved from Ontario, perhaps to New York, Detroit, one of the prairie provinces of Canada, back to England, or ... ??

Goddard (6-7-1884)who married Nancy Ann Berry. Gus & Nancy had a daughter named Cleora Goddard (10-29-1899). Cleora was my great grandmother, who I personally knew.

I found John A. Goddard in the US Census. He was married to Ann Adkins. I have found another John A. Goddard in the same area (Sewell Mountain, Fayette, WV) but I don't see John A. Goddard as a household member, and I don't want to assume they are father & son. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

My info taken from Rootsweb. The similarity in the names suggest a possible connection. The dates suggest a missing generation.

West Virginia Goddards

I am from the New Martinsville or Proctor, WV area and am looking for older data on the Goddards. My grandfathers name was Lawrence Goddard and he died in 1978. His father was named ??Bernard Goddard?? I am not sure about this and I think his father was John Will Goddard. I always thought that Goddard was a German name but by reading this - I am guessing that it is English?? Please e-mail me at sbrill@bellsouth.net with any info. Thanks Burl Goddard, Jr.

Still searching for anyone who may be able to give me information on Robert Marshall Goddard, b. 1844 in GA and died 1911. At least 2 Goddard families came from SC to Dekalb Co., GA--William and Frances Goddard and Clement and Nancy Goddard. Although Robert and his wife lived near them, Robert is not listed as the child of either. So where did he come from??? Would be happy to share what I have if it brings me any closer to more information. Thanks!

I'm looking for information on Samuel Darling Goddard Mary Elizabeth (Helm) Goddard. Samuel Mary were married in 1882 Ravanna, Mercer Co., MO. Samuel moved to Holyoke, CO. in 1886 to homestead 160 acres. A year later, he moved his family from Hastings, NE to Phillips Co., CO. in a covered wagon. Samuel Mary had eight children: William Clifford, Roy Darling, Charlie Voil, Samuel Ray, Jared Claude, Edward Glenn, James Ace, and Mary May. As of March 2000, Mary was still living. Mary had just turned 100 years old.

If anyone is related to this family, please contact me. I'm related to the Goddard's from the Helm line. I would love to share and learn more info.
Wife of Henry Kellum Goddard II

Trying to track down some info on Henry Kellum GODDARD II's wife (wives). I have found instances where his wife is listed as Margaret RUSH, and other places where she is listed as Margaret PAUGH. (I found two instances where Margaret RUSH was listed as first wife, and Margaret PAUGH as second wife.) The one marriage source I've found for Henry lists Margaret PAUGH with a marriage date of 21 Mar 1841 in Tyler, VA.

This has thrown another twist into an enigma filled search for PAUGHs in Tyler, Wetzel, (W)VA. The only PAUGH families in Tyler county in 1841 were Elizabeth (Postlethwait) Paugh (remarried to John DICKEY) and Elizabeth's oldest son, Isaac.

Elizabeth had two daughters at that time; Mary Ann who married Thomas Hawkins and Phebe who married Harvey Howard. Isaac's oldest daughter wasn't born until 1841.

Any idea where Margaret PAUGH came from? I've looked into Greene Co. PA and Ohio, Tyler, & Harrison Co. VA but haven't been able to make a connection.

John Goddard and Elizabeth Yoho

Oh dear! Someone seems to have the facts mixed up about
John Goddard who married Elizabeth Yoho. This couple lived
in Wetzel Co, WV and were my gr-gr-grandparents. John Goddard (middle name NOT William; he had a brother named William), was born 1812 in Greene Co, PA, the son of William Goddard and Elizabeth, maiden name unknown, though possibly? Kellam/Kellum. John Goddard was married to Elizabeth Yoho, daughter of George Yoho and Jane Hartley. Elizabeth was born here in the Wetzel Co, WV area c1823 and died in 1892. This couple is buried in the older Goddard Cemetery in Proctor District, Wetzel Co, WV. The Goddards came to this area of West Virginia from Greene Co, PA in 1836. Henry Kellam Goddard was not the son of John Goddard and Elizabeth Yoho. Henry Kellam Goddard was born c1780, quite possibly in DE "on the ocean", a term old-timers in this area use, and was the son of William and Elizabeth (possibly? Kellam) Goddard. Henry Kellam Goddard also died here in the Wetzel Co, WV area in 1836. This information is all documented. If you have questions, please e-mail me at donstout@ovnet.com; will be glad to share info.

I have details of my GG Grandmother Eliza Goddard (Married name) don't know her maiden name or husbands name as he does not appear on the 1901 census and all the children are 1889 or later so can't find on the 1881 census. They lived in Erchfont/Urchfont in 1901 and most of the children were born in Conock and surrounding areas.

Any information or lead would be helpful

John Goddard of Fayette Co., West Virginia

Does anyone know the ancestry of John and Loena (also spelled Louvenia) GODDARD found in Fayette Co. (W)VA, 1850-1870? Was their daughter Elizabeth the same (Mary) Elizabeth who married Andrew Bennett and lived in the Richmond District of Raleigh County? Their first two children were named Luvenia and John, so I feel it is likely. Thanks.
I am seeking information regarding James and Eliza Goddard, the parents of Emma Goddard, who was baptised at Salisbury St Thomas on 30th May 1824. James is shown to be a coachman in the baptism record.

Census records show Eliza to have been born in Southampton around 1790, but I have been unable to find any record of James.

Any help would be gratefully received.
Rebel E. Goddard of Mercer Co, KY, and Comanche Co, KS

Rebel E. Goddard, familiarly known as Reb Goddard and usually referred to in published articles as R.E. Goddard, was a distinguished citizen of Harrodsburg, Kentucky.

He was known for being a good judge of horses, as a horse breeder, the Superintendent of the U.S. Army Remount Depot at Fort Knox, KY, during World War I, and many other things.

He was also elected the Clerk of the District Court in Comanche County, Kansas, in 1888. He was one of the earliest settlers of the city of Coldwater in that county.

His obituary, two letters he wrote to The Western Star in Comanche County, Ks, in 1921 and much more information about his life and times is online at Rootsweb here:

http://www.rootsweb.com/~kscomanc/goddard_re.html

His burial place is unknown to me but I strongly suspect that it is in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, Mercer County, Kentucky, which is where his wife's obituary states that she was buried. She died before him.

I would be very grateful for a photograph (or photographs) of their gravestone or gravestones for use on the aforecited web page. Credit, of course, would be given to the contributor of such photos on the contributor's page at my Rootsweb site:

Comanche County, Kansas: History & Genealogy

http://www.rootsweb.com/~kscomanc/

Thank you,

Jerry Ferrin

GODDARD...Maine, Cumberland County, 1700s

James Goddard and Sarah Parker were married in Falmouth, Cumberland County, Maine, on September 17, 1749. Looking for sources on Sarah's parents and ancestry.

Many researchers feel that she is the daughter of Capt. James PARKER and Sarah IRESON, but many other researchers feel that 'that' Sarah PARKER married William INGERSOLL and moved to Washington County, Maine.

My Sarah Parker Goddard spent the rest of her life in the Falmouth/Windham areas of Maine. She and her family were Quakers. Their Goddard children were (alphabetical, and all born in Falmouth, ME, or Windham, ME):
Goddard, Abel 23 Feb 1773
Goddard, Dorcas 7 June 1761
Goddard, Elisha 2 Feb 1767
Goddard, Hannah 2 Aug 1769
Goddard, Jerusha 2 Aug 1769
Goddard, Lydia 23 Apr 1765
Goddard, Mary 10 Sept 1755
Goddard, Mehitable 26 Apr 1763
Goddard, Peace 4 Mar 1759
Goddard, Prudence 1 Sept 1753
Goddard, Robert 19 Sept 1751
Goddard, Silas 15 June 1757

Goddard family in Kent, London, Plymouth

I am the son of William George Goddard and Hilda Gertrude Goddard [nee Minns] who married in 1918. I am trying to trace Goddard relatives both in the USA and also those lost in UK during WWII. My father [William George] was born in Ramsgate, Kent in 1888. He had at least one sister Lillian and one brother Samuel. There was possibly another brother who emigrated to Brooklyn with his uncle [my father's brother Frank?] around 1905. My father served in the Royal Navy from 1908 to 1918 and was killed in East Ham, London in 1941 during the WWII blitz. Uncle Sam, who was a fisherman, moved to Plymouth and my mother lost contact with him during WWII and we think he may have died in the bombing there. We believe he had children there but I have no further details. My aunt Lily's married name was Marshall. She lived in Hayes, Middlesex for many years and we have Marshall cousins and second cousins in the USA and Australia.

I have three sisters, Eileen Hilda [1919-2000] who married Thomas Arthur Strutt, Joan Kathleen [1923] who married [1]George Edward Smith & [2] James Cook, and Betty Ivy [1929] who married William Kenneth Cooper.

Perhaps this information may be of use to someone and I would appreciate any follow up.

regards

Peter Goddard

William Goddard - Wiltshire England to Manitoba and then Saskatchewan

My Grandfather, William Goddard, was born in Swindon, Wilts, England on August 21, 1873. He came to Canada (Manitoba) in 1893, and returned to Swindon in 1897. In 1900 (I do not have a more specific date) he married Edith Mary Duffin in St. Margaret's Church in Stratton, Wilts, England. One child was born in Swindon, and then they came to Canada, settling near Virden, Manitoba. In 1911 they homesteaded near Cabri, Saskatchewan where they remained until their deaths.

My father was the 8th of 14 children born to William and Edith. My father never learned the names of his grandparents, and so I have been unable to trace our family history any farther back than my grandparents.

If anyone has any further information on William Goddard, I would be most grateful to hear from you.

Vicki Goddard
vgoddard@sk.sympatico.ca
Box 575
Kindersley, SK S0L 1S0 CANADA

Goddard Sibling

I am looking for a possible sibling. A few years ago a relative let it slip that my father, Clarence William Goddard, fathered a child out of wedlock when he was quite young. I do not know the child's name or sex. I believe he/she was born between 1950 and 1956. Although I am not certain on that either. My father was born in New Jersey and lived in the New Brunswick area. He also served in the Navy. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
