Catherine A. "Katie" Goeble, 96, of Meadville,PA, passed away on July 14, 2012, at Crawford County Care Center.
She was born on July 8, 1916 in Pittsburgh, Pa.,
the daughter of Mathew and Catherine Myers Bach. Katie married Harold E. Goeble on March 4, 1939. He preceded her in death on September 13, 1991. Katie went to grade school and graduated in 1937 from Meadville Commercial College. She was a homemaker, worked at Viscose, Belle Telephone, Rogers Brothers Corp., PA Employment Office, bookkeeper at REA Electric, and volunteered for several years at St. Vincent Hospital Day Care Center. She was a member of St. Agatha Catholic Church, Fortnightly Women's Club, and being in several card clubs. Katie loved to read the Bible. She also enjoyed writing short stories, traveling, and nature. She is survived by a son, Harold E. Goeble, Jr., of San Angelo, Texas; two granddaughters, Cheryl Thomas and her husband, Sean, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Deborah Heflin and her husband, Eric, of Austin, Texas; great-grandchildren, Ben, Kevin, Claire, Corbin, Spencer, Royce, Kyra, and Taylor; great-great-grandchild, Maryssa; and several nieces and nephews. In addition of her loving husband, Harold, of 52 years, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; three brothers, John, Ed, and Mathew Bach; and a grandson, S.A.P.D. Officer, Douglas Goeble. Friends and family are welcome to attend the funeral service on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville, with Father Matthew Kujawinski officiating. In lieu of flowers, Katie desired memorial contributions to be made to the Cranesville Fire Department, 9920 Meadville Street, Cranesville, PA 16410. (Erie Times-News on July 15, 2012)
