LOL!!! I was taught the same thing! In fact, when I suddenly got worse in the hospital, it almost became a mantra for us all, making my husband rather quizzical about the weird ways 'we' handle things!

Thanks for the good wishes. Mom was here for the surgery, and was anxious to hear about you. She's wishing us luck on the hunt for 'older' family members. I'm also curious about the current ones, since my chart stops rather abruptly with Mom's generation!

I will be, Stephanie. They had to take a tumor out of the space reserved for the pituitary gland. I'm on Day 11, and still feeling like they've filled my head up with molasses - but things are getting slowly better.

Hi, the image never made it. I just had "brain surgery" on the 19th, so am a little slow-moving. But I did just haul the Goedde stuff downstairs, and will sort through it as I can. I KNOW I have a descendant chart somewhere.....

I only have a few clues-

Jacob Goedde was issued a travel pass from Hanau in 1854. By 1858 he was living in Philadelphia and became a US Citizen in 1860.

His wife was Catherine Kirchner/Kerchner who was born in Germany in 1836. Her father was Christian. Her Death Certificate lists just Germany as the place of birth for her as well as for her father.

Jacob and Catherine's son William was born in 1864. William was my husband's great-grandfather.

Sadly, Jacob died in 1867 when William was only 2 years old.

I would be very interested to find out additional information about the families of Jacob and Catherine in Germany.

I found Maria and family in the 1880 Carroll County Iowa census and Meinolph and some of the family in Antelope County NE in the 1900 census. The youngest is 14 in 1900 and in a Goedde history, I have it listed that they had 10 kids. I think that means she died after 1886 and maybe much later if they had additional children.

I would guess she died in Antelope County but I really don't know that. I will do some more looking but it is not my prioity since she is not my direst relative.

Did you find anything on Mary Meis? I too have been trying to find out about her. The one I am looking for married Meinolph Meis 16 Sep 1865 and moved from Siddinghausen to Ne. or Ia.
Sure would like to find out what happened to her. Appreciate any info.

Ok. My grandfather, Wilhelm, came over in the 1920's from Hanau-am-Main. He had a Bunch (like 11) of siblings, some of whom also immigrated. Unless Goedde/Godde is a common name there, there has to be a tie-in.

I have no birth/death records from over there. just one Ahnenpasse from a cousin/stepkid.

I am waiting for a copy of Jacob's death certificate in hopes that it may list the names of his parents. I have his original 1854 travel pass but it is written in German and I do not think that his parent's names are listed.

He became a US citizen in 1861. Sadly, he died in 1867 when his son William (my husband's great-grandfather) was only two years old.

Marie Gödde married Meinolph Meis.
Marie was the daughter of Johannes Gödde and Elisabeth Köster. Sister Bernadina and brother Franz came to the US.
Franz was married to Regina Küke. I have marriage date and birth dates and places and parents names if you would like to e-mail directly.

Franz (birth name) and Regina Kuke were my greatgrand parents. They came from Meiste Germany in 1880s.
Mary Clute and Anton (Tony) Goedde were married in Sturgis, S.D. 26 Jan. 1910. Frank William was my Grandfather.
My line is the Goedde side. I have some I believe accurate that I got from hours of microfiche and newspaper viewing but have lots of missing pieces. What do you have and what do you need?

I think your Franz is a brother to my Bernadina Gödde from Siddinghausen, Germany. He listed as emigrates in a book from Siddinghausen. He also had a sister Maria Meis in the US. He married a Regina Küke from Meiste.

They are my grandmas parents.
Her name is Lucie Goedde, now Fortmueller.
Born 10/7/1934.
Her sisters name is Marianne Goedde, now Clement.
They both still live in Hanau Germany.
Their parents are Johannes "Jean" Goedde 11/25/1903 &
Elisabeth Kirchner 1902-1939

I know your request was some time ago and it does seem your request might have been answered. Susan would have been my great grand mothers step sister. Their father Johann was married twice. If interested, I have photo of Johann and first wife with three of the children. Also have photo of Johann's father (Josef) and mother (Elisabeth) from Germany with 5 of the 11 boys. Some short info on about half of them.

Looked up Susan because I was taking photos of my great grandmother's headstone and when I realized her maiden name was Goedde, I took pictures of the Goedde headstones and got curious about some of the dates.

I called my mother and she gave me a package with some of the info I'm relating to you.

Just wanted to know if you have gotten any more info on these Goedde's? Like names of Children. I am looking for Goedde's in St. Louis area too but am not being to sucsessful at it. You would think it would be easy since there are not that many Goedde's in the US.

If a Goedde is your grandma, then you and I must be cousins! My Opa was William (Wilhelm)Fredrich Goedde, born in Hanau-am-Main. He had, I think, eight brothers and sisters. If this is your family, please, please, get back in touch!!!

Looking for Goedde's with Lord in their tree

I've been doing some work on my family tree, and I have discovered that one of my Great Grandfather's sisters had a daughter who married someone named Bill Goedde. The daughter's name was May Williamson.

May and Bill had two children, Rick and Elaine. I have no clue where they are today, although I would think they would be in their late 50's/early 60's at this time.

Maybe some of you might be able to help me, I am trying to go as far back as I can but at the same time trying to go forward and find family that is still living. My great great great great great grandfather was Johann Henry Goedde born in Germany his wife was Gertrude Schneider. I know of one son who was my great great great great grandfather Mithias Anton Goedde he too was born and married (Antoinette Elizabeth Redeker) in Germany both passed away in St. Wendel Indiana. They had a daughter (my great great great grandmother) Sophia Goedde born in St. Wendel Indiana she married Anton Luigs. I am hoping to find direct and indirect decendents of this line. It would be nice to know of more family out there then what I'm being told. Thank's Liz
