Louise Goeke

Seeking information on Louise Goeke born 1861 Freeport, IL married Charlie Klipping in 1882.
Children - Lucy Katherine Klipping (my husbands grandmother/married Walter William Coldiron) and Stephen H. Klipping.
Does anyone know who Louise's parents are ? or if Louise and Charlie had any other children ?

In the first place you have Emelie's (Amelia) surname
wrong. It is GOHLKE, not Goeke. According to Resurrection
Cemetery records she was buried in Sect 15, Lot 33C by her husband James Patrick Sheeny on 15 Jul 1981, age 90 which matches her SSDI data of born 2 Aug 1890, died Jul 1981, SSN 500-26-6947. Siblings Charles, Margaret and Richard GOHLKE are buried in Calvery Cem, Section 24, Lot 1730. I
know of no GOEKE family that changed the spelling of their
surname to GOHLKE and none of the three GOEKE families in
St. Louis had children by these names by 1900.

I am looking for some information regarding William Henry Goeke (b: April 13, 1906 in Rosebud, TX; d: July 16, 1978) He was married twice, 1st: Louise Goeke (married ?, divorced Jan 7, 1924) (I don't have a maiden name). 2nd: Rosalie Anna Urban (no marriage date). I understand that William never left McLennan County, TX during his lifetime.

He probably changed it to Yakie because one proper pronunciation according to relatives in Brenaham is GAckie.

Dear Debra,
I did not realize that Wilhemina was a daughter of Hans Herman Obergoeke. I have been trying to research this line for my husband and trace them in the Census records. What birth date do you have for Wilhelmina and who did she marry.
Any information would greatly be appreciated.

Sorry for the incorrect spelling of the surname I was seeking. I only knew it by phonics but the correct spelling is Gohlke. The family was from Germany and settled in St. Louis, MO.

Amelia "Emily" Gohlke Sheehy was my great aunt by marriage to James Patrick Sheehy of McEwen, TN. They lived in St. Louis and I only visited them once when I was small. I met her siblings at that time but do not know much about them. James or Jim Sheehy was the brother of my grandmother, Mary Ann Sheehy who married Thomas M. Tarpy.

Thank you for the response. I later realized the surname spelling was wrong and changed it on a follow-up message. You have provided additional information on the cemetery that I did not have and it is most appreciated. Uncle Jim was my grandmother's brother and I only visited them a few times.
Do you have additional information on the Gohlke family? I have a picture of several Gohlke family members but do not know all the people.

Looking for information on Hans Herman Obergoeke/Goeke. Born in 1797 in Germany died 1852 in Centerville, Manitowoc Co., WI. He was married to Dorothea Anganette in 1825. She was born 1808 in Detmold, Germany died 1881 in Mishicott, WI. They had 8 children: Ludwig(Louis), Frederick, Dena, Wilhelmina, Louisa, Charles, Heinrich, Henriette Obergoeke/Goeke. Ludwig, Frederick, Dena, Wilhelmina, Charles ended up in Allamakee County, Iowa.

Might your Heinrich have married Henrietta Ann Dickruth? Yours is the only Heinrich that I can find and the dates seem to be about right. They had a daughter Henrietta Anna Goecke (5/30/1867-7/30/1914), md. Everett Austin Morrison.
Henrietta Goeke would be my wife's ggrandmother.

It's been some time since I have actively done any research, but I have some information you are looking for. I am descended from Ludwig Goeke - and yes, they changed the name to Goeke from Obergoeke (sometimes Obergoedecker). I have copies of church records from Germany. Hans Herman Obergoeke and family emigrated to Manitowoc County Wisconsin in 1848.
There are others in our family with this information as well -- please contact me at jgoeke@mchsi.com and I would love to share what I have and put you in contact with others who may well have dug even farther. d:^)

I found my Trenton relatives years ago, but lost them again - there was Jean Goeke McGarrity, and I believe her sister was Betty Goeke Egner. My husband's grandfather was George Fredrick Goeke, married in 1868 to Amelia Metzger. George's father was Frederick Goeke, (no dates available.) Frederick remarried, and had three children: Alvin, Pauline, and Maida.

I'm searching for information on the mother of August Goeke, Jr. I believe August changed the spelling of his last name to Yakie.

August was born in Halletsville, Lavaca County, Texas in 1896. His mother had four children from a previous marriage to a Mr. Herman(?) Pohl. Those children were Emma born 1885, Herman, Jr. born 1887, Julius Arnold born 1889 and Betha born 1891.

I believe the mother of August was named Rosa Gold. She was last living in Jefferson County when one of her granddaughters was a young child.

1850-55 in New York. After a falling out with the church and family he ran away from home and adopted the surname MORGAN after the family he stayed with as a young man.

My Mother-in-Law was a Goeke from the St. Louis area. I would like to find any info on the Goeke's. Her name was Virginia Goeke who married Richard Knoke. She had 2 brothers Carl & Eugene and several sisters. I am looking for their ancestors up the line. Any help would be appreciated.

Searching for information on Emily Goeke; her parents, siblings, etc. She was born in St. Louis, MO on July 4, 1885 and died in St. Louis in August 1968. She married James Patrick Sheehy, Jr. on September 23, 1924 in McEwen, TN at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He was born on March 19, 1883 and died on February 9, 1954. Both are buried in St. Louis.

I believed that Emily had a sister Mae who married a Conley and had several children; and a brother Charles "Chas" who had a daughter Margaret who married Mike Dresner, a St. Louis policeman.

Any information is most welcome.

Jan, did you ever find info on Hans Herman Goeke? He would be my wife's gg grandfather. His son Ludwig/Louis Goeke would be her g grandfather. We do not have any information on the parents of Hans or town in Lippe-Detmold they were from. Thanks for any help.

Hi, I just learned today that my gg grandfather, Carl Charles Goeke, had changed the name from "Obergoeke" and that Ludwig Obergoeke is my ggg grandfather. My great-uncle had done a family tree on geneology.com. He has Ludwig's father listed as "Hansen" but that may be wrong. I'm sorry but it doesn't say who "Hansen" Hans Herman's father is. But if you find out I would like to know and if I find out I'll let you know. I would love some info on Ludwig's decendents if anyone can help me. I'm just starting my family tree and if not for other people having done most of the work, I'd be stuck like crazy glue by now. Thanks for any help and if Ican help with anything let me know
