Looking for other descendants or people with information on Johann Karl Friedrich "Charles" GOETHE (1812-1889) and Johanna Frederica Dorothea SCHABACHER (1815?-1883). They were both born in Germany and died in Stephenson Co IL. Their children were "Robert," "Roland," "Edward," "Rolla," "Rex," "John," Emma, and Minnie. Although some of the children stayed in IL others moved to Hamilton Co NE.

Thank you for the quick reply. I had no idea I would find anyone with connections. Can you tell me if you have found this family in any of the cenus's in Wisconsin? I think I have several family members in the Iron Mt, MI area. I am sorry that I don't have my files in front of me at the moment. I will get more info together.

It could be that your grandmother's sisters husband was my greatgrandmother's brother. How interesting that a reply to a high school girl almost a year ago could result in more contacts.

I saw your message to Kristen about Goethe's in your family. I have a William Gothe born in Wisconsin (someplace?) who's Father was William Gothe and Mother was Sophia Miller. He lived in Iron Mt., Michigan and was married to my grandmother's sister. Do you think yjis might be the same family? I would like to hear from you.

my great grandmother was a goethe. my mother said she was related to the poet/writer that you mentioned in you message. my great grandmother's name was johanna sophia wilamenia goethe. she was born in 1844 in meckenburg-schrine germany. she lived in huron and sanilac county michigan. she marred martin graunstadt and then his brother herman when martin died. i thin her mother's maiden name was glay. i know in one of the census there was a charles gath that lived with my great grandfather. the name was changed to gath later in my grandmother's life. if this is any help please let me know.

Edward b. 1860, d. 1936. Annie b. 1866, d. 1943; m. ~1886.
Children are William b. 1889, d. 1909; Franklin b. 1891, d. 1912; Susie b. 1898, d. 1904; there is also a 4th child but I don't have any data. Found in Fl. cemetery. Thanks in advance

Goethe married Puhiwahine and had two sons John and George. John married a woman called Riria and had a daughter named Te Kune Ema who had a daughter named Heeni and she in turn had a daughter named Waiparemo who had me.

Hi Kristen,
I just came across your message almost 3 years after you posted it. It does take a long time to do research when there are a lot of branches involved.
There are Goethes in my ancestry chart as my greatgrand mothers maiden name was Goethe or as it was sometimes spelled Gothe. She was born in Brown County, Wisconsin in the Pittsfield area about 1867. Her fathers name was William Goethe, mother was Sophia and they had approximately 7 children.
I would be happy to find out if you might be a relative from that branch or maybe one of the other Goethes that lived in the Pittsfield area of Brown County, Wisconsin. The other one that I know of was L. L. Goethe whose wife was Amelia and they had at least 5 children.
Coleman, Wi is very close to this area so we may have something in common. Maybe your parents can help you out in this regard also.

Rolla Goethe is buried with his wife in Richland Cemetery in Hamilton County NE. Their son Robert Goethe and wife Anna Larsen are buried in the Danish Lutheran Cemetery in Kronborg NE (also in Hamilton County.) Robert's daughters are still alive (my aunts by marriage). One is 87, the other 90, and each, mentally, as clear as a bell. What would you like to know? I'll be glad to ask them and reply.

that name does not ring a bell on my side of the simmont family, but, I will ask my mother and my aunt if they have heard of it. I also have a book, that was researched by another gentleman on another side of the simmont family, but, i have misplaced it. i will search for it and get back to you.

All we know is that they lived in the Baltimore, Maryland area. We have no dates. My Grandfather enlisted in the Army there. That is where I was told they first lived when they came to America in 1886.

What county and state did these people live in? You mentioned the FI Cemetery. What is the full name of the cemetery and where is it located? I have GOETHE relatives who live(d) in Grand Island NE (among numerous other places).

Hattie GOETHE's parents were Johann "John" GOETHE (1855-1922) and Anna PENTICOFF (1860-1925). John's parents were Johann Karl Friedrich "Charles" GÖTHE (1812-1889) and Johanna Frederica Dorothea "Frederica" SCHABACKER (1814-1883).

I descend from John's sister, Emma GOETHE (1857-1919), who m. Charles MIDEKE (1852-1930) in Hamilton Co NE. I'd love to hear from you. : )) -- Linda
