I am looking for information on the Kuntz family that were the children of David and Sarah Kuntz. David and his brothers changed their name from Kuntzevitsky in the 1890s in NYC. David's children included Lillian, Otto, William, Julius, and Celia. The family lived on Marcy Avenue in Brooklyn and were Jewish. My interest is as the webmaster of the Lyakhovichi shtetl site, the town which David and his brothers listed as their birthplace. David and his wife and some of his siblings and their spouses were buried in the Lyakhovichi society plots in NYC. All information welcome

Bit of a long shot as this is an old post, but I think I've found a link. Recently discovered my GGrandfather was Solomon Goldberg, Shoe maker from Russia. Had several children, including my Grandad Joseph. His brother (my uncle)Lou was a Hackney councillor who rose up the ranks and took his job very seriously. I remember him well - through family gatherings and he had dinner at mine a few times. Joe and Lou were very close.

Where do you find such detailed information? Here on ancestry.com? All I can find are records of names that match whom I'm looking for, but never anything that detailed, so I can't for sure match them up to be the correct "John Goldberg."

I am trying to find parents of John Goldberg who was born in 1829 in Holland, Netherlands. His wife was Clara, and they had children named John Dee Goldberg (direct descendant), Derrick & Mary Goldberg. I think his wife Clara might have died giving birth to Mary based on the dates of death.

Aleck Goldberg was the son of Louis and Minnie (Rubinsky) Goldberg. He was born Feb 21, 1885 in NY, NY. His family moved to Bay City, Michigan (and eventually Detroit). About 1905 he married Ella Cohen, who was born about 1889 in Russia. They had three children, Archie, Milton and Ruth. Archie and Milton subsequently changed their last name to Gaylord.

I am trying to find any information on Louis and Minnie (Rubinsky) Goldberg and their family. I am also trying to track down what happened to Ella Cohen Goldberg, who left her family sometime after 1920.

Louis and Minnie had 7 kids altogether: Aleck, Celia, Jack, Harry (died around age 9), David, Archie and Marian.

Any information that anyone can help with on any of the people mentioned above would be greatly appreciated

GOLDBERG conversion to Evangelische Church

While collecting information for my Lesum-Area DNA Project, I came across a family named GOLDBERG, in the Sankt Martini Evangelische Kirche parish records. Eduard Goldberg was born on 07 Apr 1841, in Burgdamm, which is near Lesum (which is near Bremen, Germany). Eduard was the son of Jewish parents, Simon Goldberg and Friederike Rosenberg (who had at least 11 children). On 23 September 1866, Eduard was baptized in St. Martini Church. On the 14 Oct 1866, Eduard was married in St. Martini Church, to Anna Oberdieck genannt Thielhelm. I asssume Eduard's conversion was to enable him to marry Anna. Their 5 children were all baptized in St. Martini Church. During the same time period, there was a family of Herz Goldberg living in Lesum. He had 5 children. I have a little more information for anyone interested in these families.

Isaac Goldberg - Lyakhovichi Poland/Belarus

I am trying to find information on Isaac Goldberg (his father Harris.) He was born in Lyakhovichi, Poland about 1871-1873 (as shown on ship manifest England to US in 1928) He immigrated to England before 1895 and married Fanny Heavenstone/Evenstone in the Great Synagogue on Belgrave Street in Leeds.
Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to try to obtain information from Lyakhovichi, Poland/Belarus or records that may have been kept about his family from the Synagogue in Leeds. (That synagogue no longer open.) Im at a complete loss here.
Thank you,
Rachel
rachelturner3@comcast.net
Hi,

My name is Louis Loccisano.

It seems like your family might be part of my missing Goldberg family from Connecticut! Would you happen to know your great-grandmother Fanny's maiden name, or any of your grandfather's siblings spouses names?

I know my Goldberg relatives also came from White Russia, and actually from a village called Lyubcha. If we could find some records on your grandfather's family, it might give the village they originated from, which would help me figure out if we are related.

What I can tell you about my Goldberg family: Harry Cohen and wife Ester Goldberg Cohen, lived in Troy NY and later the Bronx. They would talk about Goldberg relatives having a farm in Connecticut. Harry and Ester had the following daughters: Selma Cohen Leslie, Bertha Cohen Hamburg, Rose Cohen Bobis, Hilda Cohen Lefkowitz, and Dorthy Cohen Shrager (all born in the early 1900s). Ester Goldberg (Cohen) also had 3 nieces/nephews in HOUSTON, TEXAS: Sarah Goldberg (my grandmother), brother Abe Goldberg, and sister Jenny Goldberg Radoff.

If you would like me to look up some records on your family, I would be happy to do that! I am eager to see if we might be related, and would definately like to talk to you about this some more. Please contact me by email: LouLocc@pacbell.net

This is an update on the Goldberg family info that I've learned within the past 3 or 4 years.
My grandfather was Samuel Ivnitski (in Yiddish probably Shmuel or Sucher). He and his younger brother Louis (known as Louis, in Yiddish Leib) came to the U.S. directly to Philadelphia port of entry in 1905. I've found the ship's manifest and located their names and ages and the name of the town in Ukraine which was called Shipitovka (now Sipitivka). They actually changed their last names from Ivnitski (or Ivinitski) to Goldberg in order to get a got at a shirt factory. There was another employee willing to say Sam and Louie were his "cousins" but had to changed their name to appear to be related. They changed it to Goldberg and kept that name for decades. Sam brought over the rest of his siblings and possibly his mother to either Philadelphia or Chester, PA. In 1937 my father, J. Leonard changed his last name from Goldberg back to an "Americanized" version of Ivnitski.... to IVINS. Most of the family changed their names to Ivins, with one or two spelling it Ivens and a few keeping the Goldberg name.

My great-grandfather, Victor Goldberg, his wife Fanny, and their children -- Max, Morris, Rose, Frank (my grandfather), Louis, Isaac (also called Isadore) and Aleck (also called Alexander) settled in Ansonia, Conn., somewhere between 1910 and 1920. They first lived in NY when they arrived in the U.S. They came from somewhere in Russia (my grandfather said he was from "White Russia.") I believe Victor came over first, in about 1902; the rest of the family followed in 1907. Does any of this sound like your family?
