Ann GOLDIE of Renfrewshire circa 1781

I am searching for any descendants or information about Ann GOLDIE who definitely lived in Renfrewshire (near Glasgow) in and around 1827. She had four girls (Mary Ann, Isabella, Margaret and Elizabeth) and PERHAPS a boy (Henry?). I am not sure about the boy but the girls are definite. She was living with a man named Bernard Hughes and claimed to be his wife but there is no official record I can find of a marriage and she uses both her names from time to time so it may have not been a "legal" marriage. Does this girl familiar to anyone? She was born around 1781 and Bernard around 1775. He claimed to have come from Armagh.

Kerri

Also, we have Galts on my father's mother's side as well, and I noticed you posting a lot on the Galt forum too. Perhaps we can help each other out & compare notes. Do email me if you get a moment... mark AT markgoldie.co.uk Cheers! Mark Goldie.

The above was my Great Grandfather. He was born in 1872 in Kilmarnock and was among other things a Professional footballer, playing for Celtic, Everton,Dundee(twice) and Hurlford(where he started his career. However I am unable to trace any info on his father and mother.
It is believed they were Hugh Goldie(f) and Annie Goldie(m). Only his mother is recorded on my great grandfathers marriage certificate to Grace McGinn. Both parents are mentioned on his death cert.

When my G grand father was very young both his parents left the UK and moved to the US. No further info available.

Young Hugh was then given to a relative known as "DoRay" Goldie (as in Doh, Ra y,Mee etc) as he was a choir master in a local church. Again no info available.

Can any one assist

William GOLDIE / Margaret SMITH

In the 1841 census, this couple with their younger children (first child born 1807, last child born 1824) are in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. Looking on the IGI, they originally came from Coltburn or Glenbuck in Muikirk, Ayrshire.

I'm particularly interested in their son, James, born 1814, who was a shoemaker in the 1841 census. If anyone has any information on this family, it would be much appreciated!

This is a long shot, I am hoping SKS could help me to confirm who Thomas's Mother is. I recently bought his Marriage Certificate that says he was a Private with the Cameron Highlanders based in Devonport, his father was also called Thomas. My grandfather say's that Thomas went back to Glasgow or Perth leaving his wife with 3 children. (1900's). I have Thomas with his family on the 1891 & 1901 but thats all. I bought the 1881 but because I dont know who his mother is i can't go anywhere.... Does anyone have any idea's that will help me get past this brick wall?
I have written to Blackwatch but heard nothing as yet!

Yours hopefully
Lorraine Woolfenden (lorraine.woolfenden@onetel.net)

I'm doing family research for an upcoming trip to Scotland and unfortunately, don't have much to go on. My great-grandparents were George and Margaret Goldie...they emigrated to Pennsylvania sometime around 1912. My grandmother was their daughter Agnes Goldie. Margaret's maiden name was either Bell or Robertson. I'm told they lived near Kilmarnock, County Ayr. Can anyone help?
