Hi
I found this website and your email which was sent in 1999. No doubt you have followed up the Goldsworthy family members since then. I have the South Australian Births, Deaths & Marriages CD's and have discovered John Thomas Goldsworthy and Catherine Arundell Cawrse had 14 children in South Australia when they moved here, Edwin Hann being one of them. I am happy to research further information if you wish.

Regards
Colleen Bennett

Goldsworthy family photo album from Bremerton, Washington

There is an old 1800's velvet photo album of the George Goldsworthy family at an antique store in Gorst, near Bremerton, Washington. Lots of cabinet photos in it, none with names. Inside the front page is inscribed, "George Goldsworthy". I've done a little research, and have found this family information: George Goldsworthy b1872 in Illinois, in 1899 he married Jessie McKenzie also born in Illinois in 1876. George's parents were born in England, and in 1900 Georges brother Samuel was living with them in Washington. George and Jessie had three children all born in Washington, Burton (1900 - 1903), Donald (1905-1987 d Las Vegas), and Mary Esther (later to marry an Eldin Winder) (b1911-1985 d Bremerton, Washington). Would pick the album up, but they want $50 for it. If you think this is your family and would like me to pick it up for you, or get you the name/contact info for the antique shop, let me know. Its out of the way and it looks like things have been in there for decades, so i imagine this will be there for years to come. jcharb8@msn.com

Seem nobody know exactly what happened to Martin Goldsworthy's last seen or heard or whatever happened to him. According to Diwrnod's researches attempted to contact Brazil Embassy, researchers, mining offices etc. without success. Few other descendants tried the same way finding out what happened to Martin.
I'm trying to find which ship/sand passenger lists to Australia from USA or Brazil or Argentina??? Could be working as a mariner?
I have his Will, marriage and death certificate that matched but his age doesn't makes sense.
Does anyone know where I can find the passenger lists and mariner record from USA or other foreign port maybe Panama?

Hi Cousin:

I am researching my husband's line. He is a gggrandson of Ralph Goldsworthy. His line goes like this:

Ralph Goldsworthy (1793-1871) m. Elizabeth ___*
|
(Catherine, Emily, and Jane)

Catherine Jane Goldsworthy (1820) m. Richard Michell (1818)
(I have a copy of the family bible page showing their chidren)

*I didn't know Elizabeth's maiden name, but the family "legend" tells me that the Michell family was related to Sir Humphrey Davy. But note the difference in spelling.

I have Death Certificate for Ralph and marriage certificate for Richard and Catharine. I have more information.

Hi Susan,
I'm afraid I still do not know much about my Goldsworthy family. What I do have is Ralph Goldsworthy (c.1790) married to Elizabeth Davey. They had 2 daughters that I know of, Elizabeth (1817 in Gwenap)and Catherine Jane (1820 in Gwenap). Catherine married Richard Michell of Kenwyn, Cornwall. There probably is a connection to our two families somewhere.
Regards,
Dawn

To my knowledge Gerisch is the correct spelling. I have been trying to pick Chester Gerisch's brain (son of Otto Gerisch) for information but his memory is fading fast and facts are mixed. Bits and pieces have put on the right track though for many things. I will ask him if the name changed. One of his grandchildren did go to Germany and visit the town they came from but I am still trying to find out which one, where they went, and if they discovered anything.

There also seems to be some history there no one wants to talk about and may be lost. Our GGGrandmother came to the US but there is nothing about GGGrandfather and it is that part of the story no one seems to know about.

Although a scary proposition, I have done quite a bit of exploring in the old neighborhood. Unfortunately I have not found the location of my GGrandfather's barber shop or your GGrandfather's bakery.

Do you mind if I respond to you directly? Feel free to do the same. If you live in the area we may also be able to meet. I have some information on Albert Gerisch branch but is stops with your mother's generation and even that is sparse based on my mom's memory. My dad is the connection but he denies any memory of anything.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Brian

We may have a connection. My GGrandmother was Clara (Gerisch) ENCK whose brother was Albert F. GERISCH. Albert F. had a son Albert P. who married Jean E., 1918~1978. However I show a Pat, Francis and Carol as children (I believe my mother gave me these names). Obviously my information is related to the Gerisch line. Ring any bells?

The youngest child Emily married Joseph Gibson Dodd on 16 March 1897 in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico. She eventually ended up living in California.

You are right, Capel Paran is full of GOLDSWORTHYs and they are all William
Henry's

Have you got any dates for John Goldsworthy, and do you know his ancestry?
William Henry was born about 1851 in Brazil and had 11 children that I know
of. None of the children were called John though there was a Simon John
(b.1876). William also had a brother John b. 1852 Brazil, though I think he
remained in Redruth after their return. If you let me know a little more
detail I can see if I can fit you in. It does seem quite unlikely that there
would be a totally unrelated GOLDSWORTHY in the area considering the name
originates in Cornwall - but you never know!!

Emma
Monmouth
also subscribed on goldsworthy@rootsweb.com

I have been following one thread of the tree, which has Marys in there, but not your dates, but am not sure if there were others from a different line of the tree. My connection, had, I believe, a mother called Mary, so maybe I have others that could have been related to your one.

Hi
Just a thought - have you tried the census? If marriage was in Jan to Mar 1871 they should be on 1871 census or if not try 1881. That should give you a place of birth and then you can try and find William on the 1851 census with his parents.
Good luck in your search (my William Goldsworthy is not yours)

Wondered if you heard of a Martha Goldsworthy of Anniston, Alabama? I have a letter dated 11/3/30 which she wrote to my G-Grandparents outling the history of the Bannister family. The letterhead's name & address are - W. Goldsworthy, 1520 Leighton Avenue, Anniston, Ala. Martha signed the letter 'Cousin'. My G-G-Grandmother Alice Bannister Whitehead lived in Anniston with her sister Mary Cornwall as per the 1930 Census at 1518 Moore? Ave. When Mary died in June 1930 her sister Alice went to Toronto, CAN. to live & died there in Oct. 1930. Have you come across any of these names in your search for the Goldsworthy's of Alabama?

I am led to believe my grandfather Reuben Alfred George Goldsworthy was the black sheep of the family. I do know that when they were alive neither of them spoke of family. You will find more info on Reuben under the goldsworthy tree. I am hoping to expand the tree a little more any help will be appreciated.

The name Richard Morcom Goldsworthy suggests his mother or grandmother's maiden name was Morcom. I'm sorry, but the Richard Goldsworthy in my research is not the "Morcom" one.

The Richard Goldsworthy I have was youngest son of Paul Goldsworthy & Mary Sennett. From Cornwall he went off to America early in 1870 with his eldest brother, but re-emigrated to Victoria, Australia. He married Mary Ann Rowe at Stawell about 1876 and had children Mary, Stan, Bill and Paul.
Regards
Selwyn

Hi Bill(wdob)
Paul Goldsworthy who went to Western Australia was also a son of Richard & Mary. This family is part of my Goldsworthy research. When Richard emigrated from Redruth, Cornwall he firstly went to America with his eldest brother, but the news of gold finds attracted him to Victoria where he joined another brother and sister Matilda.
A third brother died the day after her arrived in Melbourne.
A sister-in-law also came out with her son, following her other sons.
In all there was quite an exodus of the family from Redruth.
Regards
Selwyn Hawken

hi
JOHN HENRY GOLDSWORTHY WAS BORN IN 1874 IN CLAYHIDON IN NORTH DEVON WHICH IS WHERE I HAVE MANAGED TO TRACE THE LINE BACK TO EARLY 1800 HUNDREDS, AS FAR AS I CAN MAKE OUT WILLIAM GOLDSWORTHY (NO MIDDLE NAME) WAS BORN NR TAUNTON IN 1896 AND JOHN HENRY IS SHOWN AS A LABOURER IT SEEMS THAT JOHN HENRY MOVED TO WITH HIS FAMILY TO THE AVENUE IN PONTY CYMMER ABOUT 1901,ISH, JOHN HENRY IS SHOWN AS A PIT PROP HAULIER AND WILLIAM AS A COLLIERY ASSISTANT TIMBERMAN AT THE TIME WILLIAM MARRIED KATIE KING FROM BLANGARW IN 1922,HOPE THIS MAKE SENSE
