George GOLDY - Kansas City, MO - 4 April 1900
"The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Wednesday, April 4, 1900
HIS CLOTHES WERE AFIRE.
George GOLDY, a cook in a restaurant at East Seventh street,
was cleaning his clothes with gasoline yesterday morning when
some one in the room struck a match. The gasoline exploded
and the flames were communicated to GOLDY's clothing. He
dashed out of the room into an alley to the side of the restaurant
and ran across Seventh street. He got as far as the alley leading
north from the street, when he fell, and a number of people rushed
to his assistance.
One man grabbed a laprobe from a buggy and wrapped it around
GOLDY, putting out the fire and saving his life for the time being.
His clothing had been burned nearly off of him and he was
insensible when the police ambulance and Dr. MANAHAN arrived.
He had breathed some of the fire into his lungs and Dr. MANAHAN
thinks it doubtful if he can recover. He was removed to the city
hospital.
GOLDY is about 23 years old and unmarried.
