James Elmer Golladay was b. 12 Nov 1873 in KY (possibly Jefferson Co.). His mother was Mary (Mollie) O’Hara; his father’s name is unknown. The 1880 census finds James living in Hot Springs, Garland Co., AR with his mother, Mollie Golladay, listed as a widow. Mollie and James are living with Mollie’s sister, Leo V. Sage, her husband Elmer A. Sage, and two of Elmer’s brothers in Hot Springs; they seem to have been engaged in running a hotel there. In the 1900 census James is a private with the 17th Infantry in San Carlos, Philippines. By 1910 James is farming and living in Richland Twp., Tillman Co., OK with Elmer A. and Leo V. Sage. Oddly enough, James is also the 1910 census enumerator. By the 1920 census both Elmer and Leo Sage seem to have passed away, but James is still farming in Richland Twp., Tillman Co., OK. He married Florence A. (maiden name unknown) Armstrong Golladay (b. 30 Mar 1879) sometime between 1910 and 1920; she had a son named John R. Armstrong, born about 1908 in TX (probably in Parmer Co.). By 1930, Florence is a widow, living with her son in Parmer Co., TX. Florence died in Aug 1969 in Parmer Co.
I am looking for any information in regards to James’ parents, his marriage to Florence, his death and burial, and any other facts and details that would flesh out his life.
Thanks in advance for any information provided.
