I am desperately trying to break through my Golliher brick wall. I have only been able to get back to 1880 where M.J. Golliher was found in Kemper Co. MS as a 36 year old widow with 2 children- William Arthur age 8 and Pulaski Lace age 6. M.J. was a Blair before her marriage and her family had lived in AL before settling in MS. The Golliher family was not in MS in 1870. Both children were I believe born in MS.
I am looking for a Golliher male born late 1830's to possibly 1842. I am thinking his name may be William or Arthur. The second son has the same name as an unlce of the mother Pulaski Blair (initials were P.L.- possibly also Pulaski Lace Blair)Census shows that the father of the children was born in ,what looks like LA. I can't find anything in LA and am wondering if that whould be AL. M.J. married a Nester in Kemper Co. as the two boys were found in the home of a J.N. (M) Nester in the 1890 list of Educable Children of that county. A descendant of the Nester gentleman verified that he married a Mary J.
I have a feeling that this unknown Golliher possibly came into MS from TN. CAN"T PROVE IT-JUST A HUNCH. I did find some Golliher families in Marshall Co., MS (some spelled with a rather than o etc) in 1850-1870, I wish I could make contact with descendants of any of these MS Gollihers t see if we can make any connections.
Anyone who hs anything we might consider together please contact me.
