Obituary - Wautoma - William K. Gomoll, age 76, of Wautoma died suddenly Monday evening, May 15, 2000 at the Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack at his home.
He was born February 26, 1924 in the town of Springvale, Fond du Lac county, Wisconsin, the son of Ewald and Josephine Katarzynski Gomoll. He married Marian Bray Wedell on May 22, 1965 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wautoma.
Bill attended Colbrook School and graduated from Wautoma High School in 1943. He farmed the family homestead in the Town of Richford for sometime before operating his own farm in the Town of Oasis. He also trucked livestock to the Milwaukee stock yards for many years. After his marriage, he farmed in the town of Dakota. He was Assessor for the Town of Richford and served on the Dakota Town Board. He was a member of the Waushara County board of Supervisors and served on various committees. Bill had an ardent love for antique tractors, machinery and steam engines. He was a former member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Richford and currently was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Wautoma. He enjoyed singing and was a member of the choir, Sunday School teacher and served on the church council.
Survivors include his wife, Marian Gomoll, Wautoma; stepchildren, Betty (Donald) Bahn, Elaine (Gordon) Shruck, John (Elaine) Wedell, all of Wautoma; six grandchildren, Jeffrey (Ranee) Bahn, Scott (Kay) Bahn, Tamara (Dean) Simons, John J. (Gracie) Wedell, Christopher Wedell and Michael (Cicilia) Wedell; six great-grandchildren, Jarad and Logan Bahn, Joshua and Cody Simons, Elisha Wedell, Casimiro Valdez; one brother Harvey (Henevieve) Gomoll, Wautoma; one sister, Esther Mattice, Wild Rose; a special nephew, Kenneth Gomoll; foster son Fred Lang; two sisters-in-law, Marion J. Gomoll, Neshkoro, Marge Gomoll, Plainfield; nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Eric and John; a sister in infancy; and by a brother-in-law, Glen Mattice.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2000 at 11:00 a.m in Trinity Lutheran Church, Wautoma with the Rev. Frank G. Frye officiating. Burial will be in the Wautoma Union Cemetery.
