Margaret L. Gomoll-Thompson


Margaret Louise Gomoll-Thompson, age 79, formerly of Plainfield, passed away Friday, June 18, 2004, at her home in Saxeville.

She was born Sept. 7, 1924, in West Allis, the daughter of Albert J. and Lillian Mae (Morgan) Dahnke. She married Raymond C. Thompson in 1941. They had four children. Later, she married John E. Gomoll in 1959 and they were the parents of three daughters. John preceded her in death in 1998. She remarried Raymond C. Thompson on April 13, 2002, at St. John Lutheran Church in Almond.

Margaret's family was the most important part of her life. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. She also belonged to the Almond Homemakers.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Raymond C. Thompson; her loving children, three sons, Raymond T. "Tom" (Deanna) Thompson, Oshkosh, Harold C. "Bud" (Patricia) Thompson, Redgranite, and Kenneth J. (Margaret) Thompson, Necedah; three daughters, Linda L. Gomoll-Russell (Gary), Plainfield, Joan J. Gomoll-Kenowski (Ronald), Stevens Point, and Margaret A. "Peggy" Gomoll-Harris (George) Montello; 23 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; three brothers, Henry (Ginny) Dahnke, Necedah, Charles Dahnke, Oak Creek, and Richard (Nancy) Dahnke, Palmdale, Calif.; one sister, Vera (Milo) Schubert, LaValle; one brother-in-law, Harvey (Genevieve) Gomoll, Wautoma; and three sisters-in-law, Esther Mattice, Wild Rose, Marion J. Gomoll, Neshkoro, and Marian R. Gomoll, Wautoma. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her second husband, John, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Geraldine Thompson; her parents; two brothers, Gilbert and Fred Dahnke; her sister, Evelyn Dahnke; and by three brothers-in-law, Erich Gomoll, Willliam Gomoll, and Glen Mattice.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2004, in St. John Lutheran Church in Almond, the Rev. Daniel Iwinski officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Big Creek Cemetery, LaValle, Wis.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the church in Almond with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Relatives and friends may also call on Tuesday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of services. Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home of Plainfield is assisting the family with arrangements.
