Thanks Linda. I am aware that William had three wives. This is evident from British census records. Mary Jane Monteith was my great grandmother; Margaret Murray (my uncle is named Ross Murray Goodfellow after my grandfather's half brother, Ross Murray Goodffellow; and a Mary _______ who I don't have a record of maiden name. We always thought my cousin Ross Murray Goodfellow was a Jr. Little did he know until recently he's actually a III.

Tom Goodfellow

Hello,Bill,

Although I am not a Goodfellow, from researching a Scottish pioneer to our area of Ontario, I collected information on quite a few Goodfellow families in the 1800's in the Scottish Borders. Most of the them were in Roxburghshire, but a few in surrounding areas, and I have communicated with descendants of a number of those lines. It would interesting to know from which family you descend. Do you have the names of some of them of the 1800's, e.g., censuses of 1851 or 1881?

Sincerely, Diana Gendron mgendron@bconnex.net

I found a church marriage record for David Goodfellow and Jane Bothwell 10/20/1767 on the Irish Family History Foundation website. I believe this could be the David Goodfellow who emigrated to Centre Co, PA in the late 1700s. I wondered if anyone else has come across this record and has any more information to show this connection? My descent is through David Goodfellow's son William, his wife Jane Allison, and daughter Juliette Goodfellow. They later relocated to Ohio, Juliette married Rev. Luke Dorland. It would be wonderful if I could confirm the connection and have a new line to research via Jane Bothwell, this David Goodfellow's wife!

Elizabeth Baker Pierson Coane Goodfellow

I am looking for an Elizabeth Baker Pierson Coane Goodfellow (she was married at least three times). She was born in 1767 or 1768 possibly in MD and died in 1851 in Phila. I have found an obituary but no birth or marriage records, and none have been found previously that I know of. She was thought to be of a Quaker background and ran a pastry shop and cooking school in Phila in the early 1800s. She had two children, Sarah Anne Pierson (or Pearson) b. 1800 and Robert Coane b. 1804. She, her (2nd) husband Robert Coane and her son were all pastry chefs. After Robert Sr. passed, Elizabeth ran the shop and school with her son. Sarah married Michel Bouvier, a great-grandfather to Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. Her third husband William Goodfellow was a watchmaker. Any information about any of these folks would be much appreciated!!!

Stephen Jewitt bought and sold many properties in the area. As far as I know there was no connection to Willard what-so-ever.

Rachel is now believed to have lived until after 1840. There were letters left in the Honeoye Post Office in 1841 for Rachel and John Rouse, Richmond, Ontario Co. NY.

I would still like to receive information pertaining to Rachel and John. John Rouse married Lucinda Andrus before the 1850 Springwater, Livingston Co., NY Census. I have a lot of information from that point forward.

Hi Sean
I was reading the thread you were in about Charles Goodfellow in NE. He and Sarah were my ggg grandparents. (their son John was my gg grandfather.) Did you ever hear back from the person who posted the 1880 census listing Charles? I was really curious to hear if they thought Moses was the father of Charles. I have been researching Charles and Sarah for years and have had NO luck finding anything out about them before they came to the U.S. but have a fair amount of info after they arrived. I even have a photo of John Goodfellow (their son) from about 1902 or so. I'm willing to share everything I have!

Thanks a lot
Elisabeth

Muriel

Sorry for the delay in response. I don't think this site alerts you when someone has responded to a post. As I said before John Goodfellow was born around 1829 in Ireland (I don't know the county at this stage) and died aged 50 of TB in Paisley, Scotland in 1882.

I would be thrilled if he appeared on your tree and grateful if you could send any details.

Thanks in advance

Kevin.

John Goodfellow born circa 1830 in Ireland

I have just started looking into my g-g-g grandfather John Goodfellow who emigrated from Ireland to Scotland circa 1857. He appears in the 1861, 1871 and 1881 Scottish census and presumably dies before the 1891 census. He was married to Ann who was also born in Ireland. It seems they had 10 children from Anna M Goodfellow (born Ireland circa 1855) to Elizabeth Goodfellow (born Paisley circa 1876).

I think the family had moved first to Helensburgh, Dumbartonshire before settling in Paisley, Renfrewshire around 1865 living in 2 Orr Square.

If anyone has any other info on John and his offspring please drop me a line on kevingoodfellow@yahoo.co.uk

Thanks.

'Lo there
Charles is a g-g-grandfather of mine as well. Our family history shows him being born in 1817, wed to Sarah M. Doyle, and I wasn't aware of the two children born in County Down. My great grandmother was Margaret Goodfellow, who was born in Aug 1863.
I've also been trying vainly to track them back across time, but to no avail. It would appear that they immigrated in 1851 on the ship 'Nelson Village'. After that I loose them.
Have you been able to locate anything else about them?

I've been able to find other siblings; Mary, Charles, James, Francis and Eliza. Does that match with what you have? John is there too, of course.
I'd be more than happy to share info with you, but if you don't mind I'd really like to give it a week or so. Hurricane Dolly just rolled though here and things are a wee bit busy.

Sean

Hello, Tory,

I am happy to supply any info you want. I know that Katy was a bit of an enigma to the Goodfellow family. She was there, then she wasn't.

If you would like to contact me by email I will give you lots of details. My mother, Kate's half sister, is still alive and can fill me in on anything you need to know. My email address is C6L1V@shaw.ca.

Just to start, FT Graves was 27 years old when Catherine Goodfellow died in 1897. I think he returned to England soon afterwards because he is included in the 1901 British census.

Just last night Mom was saying she wondered why those little girls had died. One died at birth, the others lived less than 2 years. Mom used to visit Kate and wheel the babies about in the pram. She never learned why they died, but I suppose a death certificate would shed some light on the reason.

Kate's son Jim is interested in his family history, and so is his daughter. Jim isn't much of a correspondent, though.

Lynne

I don't know if anyone is still monitoring this thread but I will post anyway.

I am a granddaughter of Francis Tom Graves. If you would like information about his life and family, I would be happy to supply it.

Katie Graves went to live with her father and his wife, Ellen, when she was about 10. I know she had surgery to correct her lazy eye (BTW, I was born with the same thing, except it didn't turn in, just didn't work).

Francis Tom or F T Graves had a general store and farm in Davis Saskatchewan. He retired in 1945 and moved to Burnaby, a suburb of Vancouver BC, to be near all three of his children and his 4 grandchildren.

Katie, known as Kate or Kay as an adult, trained as a nurse in Saskatoon. She married and had 4 children, 3 of whom died in infancy. Her surviving son is living near Vancouver, has 2 children and 3 grandchildren.

Kate Graves died of breast cancer 13 Jan 1973. Her father Francis Tom Graves died 30 Jul 1957. As Lee said, he died in Wales and was buried in Burnaby BC.
Up to my ggg John Goodfellow who lived in Glasgow with his daughter Mary (McClean and then Edgar) in the 1861 and 1881 census. William, born in 1842 to John and Sarah (Wright), is my gg grandfather. I'm having no luck on the net getting any info about John. Your 1831 marriage date is big news. Do you have any additional info?

Thomas Goodfellow
Thanks. Will order his birth certificate soon.

The problem I have now is finding out when he died in Australia and how a I go about finding info on that area of the family to put with the family tree. I'm not even sure if his wifes name was actually Nellie or just a nickname for her real name.

If anyone knows of anything that relates to this person/his bit of family while in Australia would be great.

Thank you.

Hi I was wondering if anyone could help, or had any info on one of my relations in my tree.

I think I remember I can find my grandads birth, but I can't seem to find his son (my dads uncle) who also carries the same name as his father.

I am looking for info on a Sidney (or Sydney) Goodfellow born somewhere around 1916? (not sure of date). His father is Sidney Goodfellow and his mother is Sarah Ann (nee) Edwards. The son Sidney moved to Australia between 1955-1960 and I just can't seem to find anything on him.

Any help would be welcomed.

Thanks
