Dr. Samual W. Gootee (1821 - 1870) was the son of Thomas Nesbe Gootee, founder of Loogootee, IN, and a judge (and a delegate to the Indiana Constitutional Convention). There is a lot of information available. What do you need?

Looking for Della Gootee living in Sprigfield MO in 1973 whose grandfather was Donald Martin Brown. Seeking info about Donald M Brown. He was a baseball player for the NY Penn League in the 1920's and was married to a Muriel Lockwood and lived in Peoria IL until death in 1973.
Della sisters are Eva Roop and Mrs Lou Blanchard.
Donald M Brown Jr, his son was living in Creve-Coeur MO in 1973.

Just recently joined. I have also been told that Loogootee was part of my ancestry. I just haven't been able to trace back that far. All i know is that my grandmother was Velma Ailene Gootee and was born in Sulphur Springs Texas and her
parents were Ward or Warren and Melinda Searles Gootee. Warren left Indiana and met Melinda Searles in Texas and married. I also know that Warren's Dad was Dr. Samuel Gootee and mother was Margaret Allen from Indiana and that Dr Samuel Gootee's father was a judge in Indiana. That's all i know and i'm kinda stuck. any help anyone can give me would be appreciated

I think I'm the one who gave you the info on the 3 daughters. Mary (Gootee) Wagner was a good friend of my Mom, Dorothy (Raney) Sause.

Marion Gootee did marry Alice Tiernan on 3 Mar 1908 in Springfield, Il.
They had Three known daughters, Alice (m. ? Boots), Lila (m. Carl Staley) and Mary (m. Merle Wagner).

My Grandfather was Vernon Lawrence Gootee. He was your great-grandfather's brother. I, too, have been told that Loogootee was founded by ancestors. I was told there was a Frenchman involved, too. I was in Dayton, Ohio in 1975 for 1 night and met Uncle Tom at that time. Were you there?

Mary (GOOTEE) m. Merle WAGNER lived Staunton, VA. and Edgewater Beach, MD (Merle's sister, Ina, m. Harold HARRIGAN. My Mother, Dorothy (RANEY) SAUSE lived with Harold's mother Sedonia (Tootsie) HARRIGAN in Washington, DC. Ina worked with Dorothy RANEY SAUSE and Mary GOOTEE WAGNER in DC 1942-1945

Trying to find out if Mary's dad, Marion GOOTEE and Dorothy's dad, Homer RANEY may have been 1st cousins.

I have an album of pictures of my Mom, Dorothy (RANEY) SAUSE, Mary GOOOTEE WAGNER, Ina WAGNER HARRIGAN, Tootsie HARRIGAN and the others in DC, plus photos from their later reunions.

I saw your message about Washington County, Ky Gootees and Brambles. Leven Bramble was one of my (i'm not sure how many times great) grandfather. Also, one of my great-grandmothers was a Gootee. Ann Catherine and Elizabeth Gootee married Fields brothers. The Gootees were from Indiana. If you could, please write and let me know if you have any information on them and also, what type of ethnic background is the name Gootee? So far I haven't had any luck finding out. Hi Teresa, u have John Polins parents correct but please tell me how u decided on the Goatley/Toon connection.
Joseph Whelan(d) Gootee and Sarah Ann Bramble and George Gootee, Josephs brother and a brother of Sarahs, Levin Bramble, left Maryland for Kentucky about 1800. Joseph died a few years later and Sarah took her kids and went to Indiana. One of their sons founded Loogootee, In.

I am researching the family of John Polin Gootee (spouse Mary Loretta Hinton). I have family records that indicate John's parents were George Gootee and Mary Burns or Burris. His grandparents were William Goatley and Matilda Toon.

James GOOTEE - Daviess Co, Indiana - c 1885

I found a christening record for a Catherine Frances Gootee, chr 23 MAY 1886 at St. Peter's Church in Montgomery, Daviess Co., Indiana, USA. Her parents are listed as Catherine Daily and James Gootee! I cannot locate a marriage record, however, for those parents.

I have Katy Daily married a John S. Smith on 30 Apr 1889 in Daviess County. [Usually if a bride is widowed, the marriage record lists her married name.] In 1900, she states she had 5 children, only 4 living, and it is hard to see where the 5th child could have been born in her marriage.

Could Catherine have been married previously, and this is the unknown child who died by 1900? Does anyone have James Gootee in their family tree and can verify that a marriage occurred and what his death date is?

Sorry to inform you, but George Gootee's father was Joseph Gootee.George was my g.g.g.father,James,son of George my g.g.father,John,son of James,my g.father.The Family migrated to Kentucky around 1800-1810. Mr. Gootee while researching deeds to land in Caroline county, MD I found that Goodee Todd owned property there pryor to 1892 and maybe after this time. I could get more info if you would be interested. I realize his first name is the family name but this would suggest it is still a connection do'nt you think.

Plus I am looking for information about the Outten Family. My grandmother was a Martha Emily Outten born in Sussex Co. Delaware in 1881 to Robert Outten who died in same county in 1895.
