My grandpa's name was James Henry Gore married Vada Nell Jones. He had several brothers and one was named "Uncle Washie". I believe his name was Washington Gore. He also had 5 more brothers. I know Gib lived in Terrell, Texas, when I was a little girl. I don't remember the other ones. I know they were prosperous pig farmers in Texas until the depression. The government came in and took their hogs for the war effort, leaving them wiped out for a while. They all went their separate ways after that. My mother, Melba Laverne Shuler nee Gore had a cousin in Texas, Marie nee Gore, deceased, who was our genealogist. She did a complete history back to Europe. Mama has a brother, Kenneth, who lives in Alaska. We are also cousins of Al Gore. Yes, the ex-V.P. (he doesn't know this branch, I'm sure). He is my sixth cousin through "Washie". I believe they were ALL from Tennessee way back. And we are kin to Jimmy Carter through marriage. The Gores were very prolific. I believe Marie had a Gore family web page but this is, sadly, the first time I have felt an interest enough to look up our ancestors. Mama has some paperwork in her desk on the Gores, but since she passed away last year, I haven't been able to go through her things. I will make an effort to do so, and can tell you more. Also, we have a cousin through Uncle Washie named Vernon Gore who lives in Missouri
